00:03:34Oh, my God.
00:03:49The Collected Epistle and Gospel
00:03:52For today, the Monday after Whit Sunday
00:03:57O God, who, as at this time, taught the hearts of your faithful people
00:04:01By the sending to them of the light of your Holy Spirit
00:04:06Grant us by the same Spirit
00:04:08To have a right judgment in all things
00:04:11And evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort
00:04:17Through the merits of Christ Jesus, our Saviour
00:04:20Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the same Spirit
00:04:24One God, world without end
00:04:27Amen
00:04:31The Act of the Apostles, Chapter 10
00:04:37Peter opened his mouth and said
00:04:40Truly, I perceive that God doesn't show favoritism
00:04:45But in every nation he who fears him
00:04:47And works righteousness is acceptable to him
00:04:52The word which he sent to the children of Israel
00:04:55Preaching the good news of peace by Jesus Christ
00:04:59He is Lord of all
00:05:01You yourselves know what happened
00:05:03Which was proclaimed throughout all Judea
00:05:07Beginning from Galilee
00:05:09After the baptism which John preached
00:05:11Even Jesus of Nazareth
00:05:14How God anointed him with the Holy Spirit
00:05:17And with power
00:05:19Who went about doing good and healing all
00:05:21Who were oppressed by the devil
00:05:23For God was with him
00:05:26We are witnesses of everything he did
00:05:29Both in the country of the Jews
00:05:32And in Jerusalem
00:05:34Whom they also killed
00:05:36Hanging him from a tree
00:05:39God raised him up on the third day
00:05:41Giving him to be revealed
00:05:43Not to all the people
00:05:44But to witnesses who were chosen
00:05:46Before by God to us
00:05:50Who ate and drank with him
00:05:52After he rose from the dead
00:05:56He commanded us to preach to the people
00:05:58And to testify that this is he
00:06:01Who is appointed by God
00:06:03As the judge of the living and the dead
00:06:07All the prophets testify about him
00:06:09That through his name
00:06:11Everyone who believes in him
00:06:12Will receive forgiveness of sins
00:06:18While Peter was still speaking these words
00:06:21The Holy Spirit fell on all those
00:06:24Who heard the word
00:06:26They of the circumcision who believed
00:06:29Were amazed
00:06:29As many as came with Peter
00:06:32Because the gift of the Holy Spirit
00:06:34Was poured also onto the Gentiles
00:06:37For they heard them speaking in other languages
00:06:40And magnifying God
00:06:44Then Peter said
00:06:45Can anyone forbid these people
00:06:47From being baptised with water
00:06:49For they have received the Holy Spirit
00:06:52Just like us
00:06:55Then he commanded them
00:06:57To be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ
00:07:00And they asked him to stay some days
00:07:05This is the word of the Lord
00:07:08Thanks be to God
00:07:10The Holy Spirit
00:07:11Use the Word of the Holy Spirit
00:07:14To be raised as if he had received the Holy Spirit
00:07:16And he chances would
00:07:22Let him provide you

00:11:54and does not come to the light lest his works be exposed but he who does the truth comes into
00:12:03the
00:12:03light that his works may be revealed that they have been done in God this is the word of the
00:12:12Lord
00:12:14thanks be to God we call the narrative of Jesus told so differently to get so consistently by four
00:12:31tellers the gospel so what makes this narrative in four parts the good news is everything in the
00:12:41story of Christ's life on earth good news is it good news that the one and only good man was
00:12:51served
00:12:51by his fellow men as Jesus was served cast out of the world in torture and shame is it good
00:12:59news that
00:13:00he came to his own and yet his own received him not what makes it fit I ask again to
00:13:08call this
00:13:09account the good news if we were to ask one or other theologian we should insofar as he was a
00:13:17true
00:13:17man and answered from his heart and not from the tradition of the elders understood what he saw in
00:13:26it that made it good news to him though it might involve what would be anything but good news to
00:13:32some of us the deliverance it might seem to this or that man to bring might be founded on such
00:13:41notions
00:13:41of God as to not a few of us contain as little of good as need of news to share
00:13:49in the deliverance
00:13:50which some men find in what they call the gospel for all do not apply the word to the account
00:13:56itself
00:13:56but to certain deductions made from the epistles and their own consciousness of evil we should have
00:14:04to believe such things of God as would be the opposite of a message to us indeed a message from
00:14:13hell
00:14:13itself perhaps we should have to imagine that whose possibility could be worse than any ill from which
00:14:21their good news might offer us deliverance we must first believe in an unjust God from whom we have to
00:14:30seek refuge true they call him just but say he does that which seems to be the best in me
00:14:38the essence of
00:14:39injustice they will tell me I judge after the flesh I answer then is it then to the flesh the
00:14:48Lord appeals when he says
00:14:51yes indeed and why even of yourselves do you judge not what is right is he not the light that
00:15:00shines and
00:15:01lights upon every man that comes into the world they tell me I was born in sin and I know
00:15:09it to be true
00:15:10they tell me also that I am judged with the same severity as if I had been born in righteousness
00:15:16and that I know to be false they made it the consequence of the purity and justice of God that
00:15:26he will judge us born in evil for which birth we were not accountable by our sinfulness instead of by
00:15:34our guilt
00:15:37they tell me or at least let me understand that every wrong thing I have done makes me subject to
00:15:43be treated as if I had done that thing with the free will of one who had in him no
00:15:49taint of evil
00:15:51but perhaps at the time I did not recognize the thing as being evil or saw it only in some
00:15:58vague and abstract fashion
00:16:02is there any gospel telling me that God is unjust but that there is a way of deliverance from him
00:16:10show me my God is unjust and you awaken me a damnation from which no power could deliver me least
00:16:17of all God himself
00:16:21it may be good news to such as are content to have a God capable of unrighteousness if only he
00:16:28be on their side
00:16:33who would not rejoice to hear from Matthew Mark or Luke what in a few words he meant by the
00:16:40word gospel
00:16:40or rather what in the story of Jesus made him call it good news
00:16:47each again probably would have given a different answer to the question but all the answers would have been consistent
00:16:54and each a germ from which the others might be reasoned
00:17:00but in the case of John we have his answer to the question
00:17:05he gives us in one sentence two members not indeed the gospel according to st john but the gospel according
00:17:14to jesus christ himself
00:17:17he is often told the story of jesus the good news of what he was and did and said
00:17:25that what in it all did john look upon as the essence of the goodness of its news
00:17:34in his gospel he gives us all about him the message concerning him now he tells us what in it
00:17:42makes it
00:17:43to himself and to us good news he tells us the very essence the very goodness of the good news
00:17:52it is not his own message of jesus but the soul of that message that which makes it the gospel
00:17:59the news which jesus brought concerning the father and gave to the disciples as his message for them to deliver
00:18:08to their fellow men
00:18:11throughout the narrative jesus in all he does in all he is and all he says is telling the news
00:18:18concerning his father
00:18:20which he was sent to give to john and his companions that they might hand it on to their brothers
00:18:28but here in so many words john tells us what he himself has heard from the word
00:18:35what in sum he has gathered from jesus as the message he has to declare
00:18:41he has received it in no systematic form
00:18:46it is what a life the life what a man the man has taught him the word is the lord
00:18:52the lord is the gospel
00:18:55the good news is no faggot of sticks of a man's gathering on the sabbath
00:19:03every man must read for himself of the word one may read it in one trip and another in another
00:19:11all will be right if indeed the word they read and they read it by the lamp of obedience
00:19:19he who is willing to do the will of the father shall know the truth of the teaching of jesus
00:19:25the spirit is given to those who obey him
00:19:31but let us hear how john reads the word near what is john's version of the gospel
00:19:40this then is the message he says which we have heard of him and declare to you
00:19:46that god is light and in him is no darkness at all
00:19:52ah my heart this is indeed the good news for you this is the gospel
00:19:58if god is light what more else can i seek than god than god himself throw away all your doctrine
00:20:07away with your salvation from the justice of a god whom it is a horror to imagine away with your
00:20:14iron
00:20:15cages of false metaphysics i am saved for god is light
00:20:23my god i come to you that you should yourself be is enough for time and eternity for my soul
00:20:33and all
00:20:34its endless need whatever seems to me to be darkness that i will not believe my god
00:20:42if i should make a mistake and call that darkness which is light will he not reveal this to me
00:20:49sitting in the light that lights every man showing me that i saw but the husk of the thing and
00:20:57not
00:20:57the kernel will he not break open the shell for me and let the truth out of it his thought
00:21:03stream out upon me
00:21:07he will not let it hurt me to mistake the light for darkness for while i take not the darkness
00:21:13for light
00:21:16the one who comes from blindness of intellect the other from blindness of heart and will
00:21:24i love the light and will not believe the word of any man or upon the conviction of any man
00:21:30that which seems to be darkness is in god
00:21:36where would the good news be if john said god is light but you cannot see the light you cannot
00:21:43tell
00:21:43you can have no notion what light is what god means by light is not what you mean by light
00:21:51what god calls light me for you be horrible darkness for you are another form of nature from him
00:22:00where i might ask would be the good news of that
00:22:05it is true the light of god may indeed be so bright that we see nothing but that is not
00:22:11darkness it is infinite hope of light it is true also that to the wicked the day of the lord
00:22:21is darkness and not light
00:22:24but is that because the conscience of the wicked man judges of good and evil oppositely to the conscience of
00:22:31the good man
00:22:33when he says evil you are my good he means by evil what god means by evil and by good
00:22:42he means pleasure
00:22:45he cannot make the meanings change places
00:22:49to say that that our dark deepest conscience calls darkness may be light to god is blasphemy
00:22:57to say light in god and light in man are of different kinds is to speak against the spirit of
00:23:04light
00:23:05for light is light god is light far beyond what we can see but it is what we mean by
00:23:13light god means by light
00:23:16and what is light to god is light to us or would be light to us if we opened our
00:23:23eyes and saw it
00:23:24and will be light to us when we do see it
00:23:30god wants us to be jubilant in the fact that he is light
00:23:34that he is what his children made in his image mean when they say light
00:23:41that what in him is dark to them is dark by excellent glory by too much cause of jubilation
00:23:48that however dark it may be to their eyes it is light even as they mean it light for their
00:23:54eyes and
00:23:55souls and hearts to take in the moment they are enough of eyes enough of souls
00:24:00hearts to receive it in its very being itself living light you will not have me believe anything dark of
00:24:12you
00:24:13you will have me so sure of you as to dare to say that it is not of god which
00:24:18i see dark see unlike the master
00:24:24if i am not honest enough if the eye in me be not single enough to see your light you
00:24:30will punish me i
00:24:31thank you and purge my eyes from their darkness that they may let in the light and so i become
00:24:38an
00:24:38inheritor with your other children of the light which is your godhead
00:24:44which makes your creatures need to worship you in your light we shall see light
00:24:53a man will not in our present imperfection see the same light but after all light is light even so
00:25:03and what each does see is his safety if he obeys it in proportion as we have the image of
00:25:11christ
00:25:11mirrored in us we shall know what is and what is not light but never will anything prove to be
00:25:20light
00:25:20that is not of the same kind with that which we mean by light and that in such a thing
00:25:27which makes us
00:25:28call it light the darkness still remaining within us makes us sometimes doubt of a thing whether it be
00:25:38light or darkness but when the eye is single the whole body will be full of light
00:25:47to fear the light is to be untrue or at least it comes of untruth no being for himself or
00:25:55for another
00:25:56need fear the light of god nothing can be in light inimical to our nature which is of god or
00:26:06to do
00:26:06anything in us that is worthy all fear of the light all dread lest there should be something dangerous
00:26:14in it comes from the darkness still in us who do not love the truth with all our hearts
00:26:23it will vanish like the morning mist as we are more and more interpenetrated with light
00:26:29in a word there is no way of thought or action which we count admirable in man in which god
00:26:37is not altogether adorable there is no loveliness nothing that makes man dear to his brother man
00:26:45that is not in god only it is infinitely better in god he is god our savior jesus is our
00:26:54savior because god
00:26:57he is the god of comfort and consolation he will soothe and satisfy his children better than any mother her
00:27:06infant
00:27:08the only thing that he will not give them is leave to stay in the dark
00:27:14if a child might cry i want to stay in the darkness and complain that he will not give it
00:27:22yes he will not give it he asks what his child needs often by refusing what he asks
00:27:32if the child might say i will not be good i prefer to die let me die he's dealing with
00:27:40that child
00:27:41might be as if he said no i have the right to content you not giving your own will but
00:27:48mine which is your one
00:27:50good one you shall not die you shall live to thank me that i would not hear your prayer
00:27:58you know what you ask but not what you refuse
00:28:03there are good things god must delay giving his child until he has a pocket to hold them in
00:28:11till he gets his child to make that pocket
00:28:14he must first make him fit to receive and to have there is no part of our nature that shall
00:28:21not be
00:28:21satisfied and that's not by lessening it but by enlarging it to embrace and ever enlarging enough
00:28:31come to god then brothers and sisters this morning with all your desires and instincts with all your lofty
00:28:39ideals all your longing for purity and unselfishness all your learning to love and be true all your
00:28:47aspiration or after self forgetfulness and child life in the breath of the father come to him with all
00:28:56your weaknesses with all your shame with all your futility with all your helplessness over your own
00:29:04thoughts with all your failures yes even with the sixth sense of having missed the tide of true
00:29:10affairs come to him with all your fears doubts dishonesties meannesses paltrinesses misjudgments
00:29:20wearinesses disappointnesses disappointments and staleness
00:29:26be sure he will take you and all your miserable brood whether of draggled winged angels or covert
00:29:34seeking snakes into his care the angels of life the snakes for death and be for liberty in his limitless
00:29:43heart for he is life and in him is no darkness at all if he were a king a governor
00:29:51if the name that
00:29:52described him were the almighty you might as well doubt whether there could be light enough in him for
00:30:00you and for your darkness but he is your father and more than your father than the word can mean
00:30:07in any
00:30:08lips but his who said my father and your father my god and your god and such a father is
00:30:17light infinite
00:30:18perfect perfect light if he were any less or any other than he is
00:30:26and you could yet go on growing you would at length come to the point where you would be dissatisfied
00:30:32with him
00:30:34but he is light and in him is no darkness at all
00:30:39if anything seemed to be in him that you cannot be content with be sure that the ripening of your
00:30:46love to your fellows and to him the source of your being will make you at length know that anything
00:30:53else
00:30:53than just what he is would have been to you an endless loss
00:31:01do not be afraid to build upon the rock christ as if your holy imagination might build up too high
00:31:10and heavy for that rock and it would give way and crumble beneath the weight of your divine ideas
00:31:18let no one persuade you that in him there is little just a little darkness because of something he has
00:31:26said
00:31:26which his creature interprets into darkness this interpretation is the work of the enemy
00:31:34a handful of tears of darkness sown in the light neither let your cowardly conscience receive any word as light
00:31:45because another calls it light while it looks like dark to you say either the thing is not what it
00:31:53seems
00:31:53or god never said or did it but of all evils to misinterpret what god does and then say the
00:32:01thing is interpreted
00:32:03must be right because god does it is of the devil do not try to believe anything that affects you
00:32:11like darkness
00:32:13even if you mistake and refuse something true because of this you will do less wrong to christ
00:32:20by such a refusal than you would by accepting as his what you can only see as darkness
00:32:28it is impossible that you are seeing a true a real thing seeing it as it is i mean if
00:32:35it looks to you
00:32:36like darkness but let your words be few lest you say with your tongue what you might otherwise repent of
00:32:45in your heart above all things believe in the light that it is what you call light though the darkness
00:32:54in you may give you cause at a time to doubt whether you are truly seeing light
00:33:01but there is another side to the matter god is light indeed but there is darkness darkness is death and
00:33:11men are in it
00:33:15yes darkness is death but not death to the one that comes out from it
00:33:24this may sound a little paradoxical but no man is condemned for anything he has done
00:33:32he is condemned for continuing to do wrong he is condemned for not coming out of the darkness
00:33:40for not coming into the light the living god who sent the light his son into the world to guide
00:33:47him home
00:33:51so let us hear what john says about the darkness for here also we have i think the word of
00:33:57the apostle
00:33:57himself for in verse 13 he begins i think to speak in his own person and in the 19th verse
00:34:06he says and
00:34:07this is the condemnation not that men are sinners not that they have done that which even at this moment
00:34:13they were ashamed of not that they have committed murder not that they have betrayed man or woman
00:34:19not that they have ground the faces of the poor making money by the groans of their fellows not for
00:34:26any hideous thing are they condemned but that they will not leave doing such things behind and do them no
00:34:35more
00:34:36this is the condemnation that light is come into the world and men would not come out of the darkness
00:34:43into the light
00:34:44but preferred darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil choosing evil clinging to evil
00:34:54loving the darkness because it suits their deeds they are turning their backs on the inbreaking light
00:35:02how can they be but condemned if god be true if he be light and darkness be alien to him
00:35:12whatever of honesty is in man whatever of judgment is left in the world should surely allow that their
00:35:18condemnation is in the very nature of things that it must rest on them and abide
00:35:28what if one happens to utter some individual truth which another man has made into one of the cogs of
00:35:34his
00:35:34system he is in danger of being supposed to accept all the toothed wheels and their relations in that system
00:35:46i therefore go on to say that it does not follow because light has come into the world
00:35:52that it has automatically fallen upon this or that man he has his portion of the light that lights every
00:36:00man but the revelation of god in christ may not yet have reached him
00:36:07a man might see and pass the lord in a crowd nor be to blame like the jews of jerusalem
00:36:14for not knowing him
00:36:18a man like nathaniel might have started and stopped at the merest glimpse of him
00:36:24but all growing men are not yet like him without guile
00:36:29everyone who has not yet come to the light is not necessarily keeping his face turned from it
00:36:37we do not say that this or that man would not have come to the light had he seen it
00:36:43we do not know that
00:36:45he will not come to the light the moment he does see it god gives every man time there is
00:36:53a light that
00:36:53lightens sage and savage but the glory of god in the face of jesus may not have shone on this
00:37:00sage or that savage
00:37:04the condemnation is of those who having seen jesus refuse to come to him or pretend to come to him
00:37:12but do not
00:37:13do the things he says they have all sorts of excuses at hand but as soon as a man begins
00:37:21to make an excuse
00:37:23the time has come when he might be doing that from which he excuses himself
00:37:31how many other not who believing there is something somewhere in the claim with the claim of light upon
00:37:37them go on and get more and more out of the darkness this consciousness all neglected by them gives broad
00:37:46ground for the expostulation of the lord
00:37:51you will not come to me that you might have life
00:37:57all manner of sin and blasphemy the lord tells us shall be forgiven to men
00:38:03but blasphemy against the spirit cannot be forgiven god speaks as it were in this manner
00:38:13i can forgive you everything not a word more shall be said about your sins but leave them behind
00:38:20come out of the darkness of your exile come into the light of your home of your birthright
00:38:26do no more evil do no more cheating no more lying oppressed no more slander no more envy no more
00:38:36be neither greedy nor vain love your neighbor as i love you be my good child trust in your father
00:38:45i am light come to me and you will see things as i see them and hate the evil
00:38:52i will make you love the thing which now you call good and love not i will forgive everything
00:39:01i thank you lord for offering to forgive me but i would prefer to stay in the darkness
00:39:09forgive me that too i pray
00:39:13no that cannot be the one thing that cannot be forgiven is the sin of choosing to be evil
00:39:21of refusing deliverance it is impossible to forgive that sin
00:39:27it would be to take part in it to side with wrong against right with murder against life how can
00:39:34that
00:39:34be forgiven the thing that is past i pass but he goes on doing the same thing annihilates
00:39:43violating my forgiveness making it of no effect
00:39:49a man can can have committed any sin whatever that i will forgive him but to choose to go on
00:39:57sinning how can i ever forgive that it would be to nourish and cherish evil it would be to let
00:40:04my
00:40:04creation go to ruin shall i keep you alive to do things that are hateful in the sight of all
00:40:11true and
00:40:11honest men if a man refused to come out of his sin he must suffer the vengeance of a love
00:40:18there would
00:40:19be no love if it left him there shall i allow my creature to be the thing my soul hates
00:40:30truly there is no excuse for this refusal if we were punished for every fault
00:40:36then there would be no end no respite we should have no quiet wherein to repent
00:40:44but god allows to pass over all that he can
00:40:48he passes by and forgets thousand sins yes even ten thousands forgiving them all
00:41:00only we must come into the light we must try to do evil no more he who refuses
00:41:07will be punished and punished through all the ages punished until he gives way yields and comes to the
00:41:14light that his deeds may be seen by himself to be what they are and by himself to be reproved
00:41:22and the
00:41:23father at last to have his child back for the man who in this world resists to the full there
00:41:31may be
00:41:31perhaps a whole age or era in the history of the universe during which his sin shall not be forgiven
00:41:41but never can it be forgiven until he repents how can they who will not repent be forgiven
00:41:48except in the sense that god does and will do all that he can to make them repent
00:41:57who knows but such a sin may need for its cure the continuous punishment of a millennium
00:42:07there are three conceivable kinds of punishment first that of mere retribution which i take to be entirely and only
00:42:15human
00:42:17therefore indeed more properly inhuman for that which is not divine is not essential to humanity and is of the
00:42:26devil
00:42:27and intrusion upon the human second that which creates repentance and third that which refines and purifies creating holiness
00:42:44even so the punishment that falls on the one that the lord loves because they have repented
00:42:50it's a very different thing from the punishment that falls on those whom he loves indeed but cannot forgive
00:42:57because they are still clinging to their sin
00:43:04there are also various ways in which the word forgive can be used for a man might say to his
00:43:12son
00:43:13my child i forgive you you did not know what you were doing i will say no more of it
00:43:17or he might say
00:43:21i forgive you but i must punish you for you have now done the same thing several times but i
00:43:27need to make you remember
00:43:31or again indeed he might say i am seriously angry with you i cannot forgive you i must punish you
00:43:40severely this thing was too shameful i cannot pass by
00:43:46or again he might say unless you alter your ways i will have nothing more to do with you
00:43:53you need not come home to me i will not take the responsibility of anything you do
00:44:02so far from answering for you i shall feel burned in honesty to warn my friends never to put trust
00:44:08in
00:44:08you never never until i see a difference in you do i dare to forgive you i can no more
00:44:18see you as a
00:44:19member of my family i would die to save you but i can never forgive you there is nothing in
00:44:28you now on
00:44:28which to face any forgiveness to say i forgive you would be to say go do anything you like i
00:44:37don't care what
00:44:38you do so god may forgive and punish he may punish and not forgive that he might rescue to forgive
00:44:48the
00:44:48sin against the holy spirit would be to condemn the universe to the pit of lies to render it impossible
00:44:55for
00:44:55the man so forgiven ever to be saved he cannot forgive the man who will not come to the light
00:45:03because his deeds
00:45:04are evil against that man his fatherly heart is moved with righteous indignation glory be to the father
00:45:15and to the son and to the holy spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall
00:45:20be world without end amen

00:50:28this is a true saying and worthy of all men to be received
00:50:33that christ jesus came into the world to save sinners
00:50:40hear also what saint john says
00:50:43if any man sin we have an advocate with the father
00:50:47jesus christ the righteous and he is the propitiation for our sins
00:50:58we do not presume to come to this thy table o merciful lord
00:51:03trusting in our own righteousness but in thy manifold and great mercies
00:51:09we are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy table
00:51:15but thou art the same lord whose nature it is always to have mercy
00:51:20grant us therefore gracious lord so to eat the flesh of thy dear son jesus christ
00:51:27and to drink his blood that me we may evermore dwell in him

00:52:27It is very meet, right and our bounden duty
00:52:30That we should at all times and in all places
00:52:33Give thanks unto thee, O Lord
00:52:36Holy Father, almighty, everlasting God
00:52:39Through Jesus Christ, thine only Son, our Lord
00:52:44Because through him thou hast created all things from the beginning
00:52:48And fashioned us men in thine own image
00:52:53Through him thou didst redeem us from the slavery of sin
00:52:57Giving him to be born as man
00:53:00To die upon the cross and to rise again for us
00:53:08Through him therefore with angels and archangels
00:53:11And with all the company of heaven
00:53:13We lord and magnify thy glorious name

00:54:39Through him accept our sacrifice of praise
00:54:42And grant that these gifts of bread and wine
00:54:45May be unto us his body and blood
00:54:49Who in the same night that he was betrayed
00:54:53Took bread
00:54:56And when he had given thanks to thee
00:54:59He broke it and gave it to his disciples
00:55:01Saying, Take, eat
00:55:05This is my body which is given for you
00:55:08Do this in remembrance of me
00:55:14Likewise after supper
00:55:15He took the cup
00:55:18And when he had given thanks to thee
00:55:21He gave it to them saying
00:55:23Drink ye all of this
00:55:25For this is my blood of the new covenant
00:55:27Which is shed for you and for many
00:55:30For the remission of sins
00:55:32Do this as oft as ye shall drink it
00:55:35In remembrance of me
00:55:41Wherefore, O Lord, with this bread and this cup
00:55:43We make the memorial of his saving passion
00:55:47His resurrection from the dead
00:55:49And his glorious ascension into heaven
00:55:52And we look for the coming of his kingdom
00:55:55We pray thee to accept this our duty and service
00:55:59And grant that we may so eat and drink
00:56:03These holy things
00:56:04In the presence of thy divine majesty
00:56:08That we may be filled with thy grace
00:56:10And heavenly blessing
00:56:13Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord
00:56:16By whom and with whom and in whom
00:56:19In the unity of the Holy Spirit
00:56:21All honour and glory be unto thee
00:56:24O Father Almighty
00:56:26From the whole company of earth and heaven
00:56:29Throughout all ages
00:56:32World without end

00:57:16Amen
00:57:17Amen
00:57:19Amen
00:57:19Amen
00:57:20Amen
00:57:21Amen
00:57:23Amen
00:57:23God makes evil in my sight,
00:57:27that thou mightest be justified in thy strength,
00:57:32and fear, and love, and love.
00:57:36In old I was shaken in the raveness,
00:57:42and in spirit my mother was sleeping.
00:57:47But, Lord, thou requireth prudently in one heart,
00:57:54and shalt break me to understand reason secretly.
00:58:01Thou shalt hurt me with his work, and I shall be clean.
00:58:07Thou shalt wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
00:58:12Thou shalt make me here, O joy and glad,
00:58:19that the hope which love and love hath made it dry.
00:58:25Thou shalt make me here, O joy and glad,
00:58:35that the hope which love and love hath made it dry.
00:58:39Thou shalt make me here, O joy and glad,
00:58:55that the hope which love hath made it dry.
00:59:01Thou shalt make me here, O joy and glad,
00:59:09I raise up all the women, and seal and shall be conferred here on the way.
00:59:18Deliver me from blood, guiltiness, O God, thou that art the God of my head,
00:59:27and my tongue shall see of thy righteousness.
00:59:31Thou shalt open my lips, O God, and my tongue shall show thy praise.
00:59:41For thou desirest no sacrifice, hence would I be with thee,
00:59:49but thou delightest not in thy heart.
00:59:54The sacrifice of God is as love of spirit,
00:59:59the broken and outright heart, O God, shall thou love this time.
01:00:07To be free, the humble and gracious of the child,
01:00:14build the home of Jerusalem.
01:00:18Then shall God be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness,
01:00:23with the burnt offerings and the relations.
01:00:29Then shall they offer young good, and shall come thy brother.
01:00:37Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
01:00:47As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
01:00:55and without end. Amen.
01:01:12The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a sharing of the blood of Christ?
01:01:20The bread which we break, is it not a sharing of the body of Christ?
01:01:26For we, being many, are one bread, one body, we all partake of the one bread.
01:01:37O Lamb of God that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us.
01:01:44O Lamb of God that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
01:01:52O Lamb of God that takest away the sins of the world, grant us thy peace.
01:02:02Let us pray.
01:02:05As our Saviour Christ has commanded and taught us, we are bold to say.
01:02:11Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
01:02:17Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
01:02:24Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
01:02:30as we forgive those who trespass against us.
01:02:34Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
01:02:40Amen.
01:02:45Draw near with faith, receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ,
01:02:51which was given for you, and his blood, which was shed for you.
01:02:56And feed on him in your hearts, by faith, with thanksgiving.
01:03:06Amen.
