00:23Janet it's a wrap
00:25thank you so much
00:27thank you everyone
00:37as males get older we become more distinguished for lack of a better word
00:42and for females it's more like y'all get names like cougar and auntie and things of that nature
00:47they count y'all out way too early man because if Angela Bassett is a testament to what an older woman
00:54more mature woman can be man then I want to go that route
00:59what's good y'all this is Method Man right here and this is my essence uncovered
01:05my essence stays covered though but this is my essence uncovered
01:09y'all be good
01:11having an essence cover mean to me
01:15when I get one I'll let your ass know this the digital cover the physical copy magazine that I grew up on that would mean the world even this is this is great
01:25I love the fact that you guys even thought of me for this and I am truly honored
01:28I've won a Grammy and I recently got my first acting award and that was from the NAACP image award
01:36I covet that award more than the Grammy any day because that came from my audience my people and they love me
01:43and I'll take that over anything so for essence
01:47after all these years of me being in the business
01:50to be here right now speaks volumes volumes to my journey as well as you know the classiness of this magazine
02:00it just got a little bit more classy
02:03yes
02:12you can't do both I tried it and it didn't work out for me that's why I took a long hiatus from acting
02:18or acting took a long hiatus from my ass let's put it that way
02:22there were shows being missed of course studio albums not being made because I was way more into my acting
02:29than music I haven't met one person that's acting and singing and they're doing both and it's working for them
02:36with the exception of JLo because JLo does every thing she's the best at it don't at me
02:43I was in a group that meant a lot to its audience we never compromised ourselves and they respected that
02:50so why not 25 26 years from there still have a career because you know you can't pay the buck
02:58I mean I've always been myself so and nothing's changed so the audience should still be there
03:03and we're blessed to still have the audience there that's all I can say
03:08how important has physical fitness been to my overall well-being
03:11when I started um big depressed insomnia a bunch of things going on
03:15for me it was if I'm going to get my mind right my body might as well be right
03:19why you know exercise the mind and not exercise the body it doesn't make sense
03:23it was just a transition for me I feel like if I can do it anybody could do it
03:26Hey this is Summer Walker and we're on set for my Essence magazine cover sheet
03:43up
03:56and
03:58the
04:01and
04:05and
06:07And being on this cover is bigger than just seeing Pinky Cole.
06:12Being on the cover is every single entrepreneur who has big dreams to make it, to make their
06:18business go viral and make multi-million dollars and just really realizing their dream.
06:23And people get to see it through me, a girl from East Baltimore who had big dreams and
06:28big visions and was able to manifest them.
06:30That landed me to this opportunity here.
06:33And that's what we're going to ask.
06:34And so I'm excited.
06:35I feel good.
06:36How do I feel?
06:37I'm still living in the moment.
06:39You know, it's funny because as entrepreneurs, we always talk about being on big platforms
06:44and letting the world know about our organizations.
06:47And now they're about to see, you know, that two entrepreneurs that have restaurants, but
06:51we stand for the mission that we own.
06:53And it's so, you know, we're so grateful for that.
