00:01hello welcome to the cvs flight channel
00:11and that is sasha kunan i just spoke to his big brother um well bigger brother i should say in
00:17stature lucas kunan because he came in second there overall in the 450s i said look what did
00:22you sort out today that you can taste say to sasha this is what you need to do to get
00:28a good motor
00:28to result and he said i'm just going to tell him to calm down and enjoy it remember why we're
00:33here
00:33we've been wanting to be here for a really long time go and enjoy it he said this track is
00:39gonna
00:39bite you and in those moments don't make it worse go out there just ride give it give it what
00:44it's
00:45got just essentially calm down a little bit so that's what he said to his brother let's see what
00:50sasha's got let's remember he was second in the qualifying here this morning we know that he has
00:55a measure of his track we know he has the pace but mistake stopped him so he's just got to
00:59piece
01:00that together guys well thanks will and most importantly he has a point lead to protect
01:04back at mxgp so doesn't want to get injured today see if he can calm down what else do they
01:09need to do
01:09ktm key to the moto well kind of that calm down is his managed altitude and i'm not talking about
01:14conditioning i'm talking about just with these bikes these 250f they're lower on power so any
01:19mistake that you make in a corner it's really exacerbated here at this racetrack and you can
01:25kind of see it so a start is going to be important but also as lucas was telling his brother
01:30you got
01:31to calm down make sure you keep that momentum up keys to the race okay so almost ready to go
01:37here
01:37let's head back down to jt this guy may be a little under the radar for how fast he's going
01:41jt he is and i
01:43have to be honest with you jason i did not know if cole davies was going to be a championship
01:47contender in
01:48this series there are a lot of unanswered questions and a lot of ups and downs in his very limited
01:52pro motocross history but i think he is slowly starting to prove that he is worthy of being in that
01:58conversation the one thing i think he still has to work on is his starting consistency if he puts
02:04himself in good position he can finish there he can win motos like he proved last weekend but if
02:09he starts 15th it's going to be a much tougher battle to chase down those monster pro circuit
02:14kawasaki's yeah thanks jt that's it hamacre has been lightning off of every start this year in the
02:2010. kitchen not quite as good off the gate but has delivered multiple moto wins and that might have
02:27been his best start of the year in that first moto so he's moving further forward yeah he's moving
02:31forward and i also think he just shout out to joe shimoto i think joe wrote great that first moto
02:36he
02:36obviously went down but you heard him on the podium made quite a bit of passes more aggressive
02:40if he gets a start i think he'll be here to compete same thing with cole davies and lucas
02:47i mean sasha kunin yeah sasha but the early crash really wasn't in it in the first moto could be
02:53different this time although he won't have a very good gate pick but he is a great starter might be
02:58able to overcome back this is it 30 minutes and two laps 40 riders on the gate first moto winner
03:05is
03:05kitchen over hamacre and shimoda will they be the ones battling for the overall or can someone else
03:10like davies get in the mix here it is roves are up gates down
03:21and it is sasha kunin oh and hammock was down in a first turn crash again was that his teammate
03:28i
03:28believe levi kitchen was down as with him as well it was so first and second in the first photo
03:34are
03:34here nearly last and next to last here in the second moto answers in second place nick romano
03:42are you kidding me nick romano who is fourth and moto one could he win today's overall he's running
03:51second but sasha kunin showing his start powers in the lead yeah this track is going to be a lot
03:57different than what it was earlier they put some water down so you saw that 450 class how slippery it
04:01was got to be careful this opening lap but great to see him up here jt as he makes a
04:06mistake and gets
04:07passed by nick on the inside unbelievable well moderately oh almost throws it away sasha gets it
04:13back all right jt what do you got i was just going to say buckle up because this is what
04:18sasha does he is
04:19one of the best starters i've i've seen and let's just give him a mulligan on that first moto start
04:24but
04:24this is what he does well but no one likes to push the envelope like sasha kunin so let's see
04:30what
04:30he's got because you know after watching his brother get second overall right there he wants to leave
04:34here with a win yeah absolutely and the one thing i was thinking about before the gate drop you know
04:39how many times has sasha probably started in first year over and over europe so maybe that first start
04:44was just him really getting used to that second one was definitely better now he's out front you can see
04:50in that box there you got the two kawasaki's in green that's half acre and kitchen trying to make
04:55their way forward trying to figure out where they are looking at timing and scoring it is 27 and 28
05:02at least for the moment yeah they're they're way way way way way way way in the back of the
05:07pack but
05:07yeah i mean you can see all the chaos in the small box not only got to deal with the
05:11rugs they got the
05:12riders getting cross-rutted so got to be careful to make your way up and if you're levi just stick
05:17with
05:18that number 10 in front of him as he's making a bunch of passes so sasha kunin 14th in moto
05:25one
05:25and quickly getting away in moto two what an impression a first impression that the kunin twins
05:32are leaving a pro motocross today romano di francesco gordon shimota is fifth this could be an
05:40opportunity for shimota to get that much needed first overall win of the season because
05:47he's gonna have to do it romano who's the overall leader right now and kitchen and have anchor our
05:51way back yeah i need to make a mistake so levi's actually ahead of sim so he's made the pass
05:56on him
05:57and a few other positions but i mean you got to think sasha's out front just smiling his brother's
06:03smiling out here long ways to go but i would say so far they're uh the dissertation to america's been
06:11successful really no doubt about it even if he doesn't finish off for the moto win they have
06:15shown how well they can ride and what talents that they are will yeah i just want to let you
06:21guys
06:21know i'm actually with uh sasha's brother lucas right now he's just watching the monitor that we
06:27watch the racing on he's like i'm loving this i'm loving the fact that i can watch him out there
06:30um i don't think any surprise right now seeing what his brother is doing but he's watching uh
06:35very close he hasn't gone anyway he's moved about 10 feet from the podium uh yes very interested
06:41spectator there expect to see them back at southwick and iron man get to a sand track
06:49southwick they could do some serious damage there you know but at the same time i know this is hard
06:54packed but this track kind of reminds me of a sand track meaning you've got to carry your momentum up
06:59and with the uh the bike being down on power probably allowing lucas and being on this hard
07:04pack to kind of rod it i mean sasha that is to ride it like he would say and keeping
07:08that momentum up
07:09i mean look at this gap he almost got five seconds within a lap and a half and he's got
07:14his head down
07:15just moving forward and at one point he'll realize man i got these guys pretty far pretty far out front
07:21see romano in the distance back there gonna go back to the start gotta show you what happened to hamacre
07:26who i thought might have the whole shot and then just like last week ends up getting tangled in
07:32term one the kitchen was down with him there's romano in second and already the gap like you said
07:39nearly five seconds good start for rider d francesco in the rockstar house corner there's kitchen
07:46he is into the top 20 now 18 and now we'll show you the replay of the start as he
07:52tries to get around
07:53his teammate drew adams back here yeah drew probably didn't recognize that it was levi behind him but
07:59here we go we got it levi highlighted now it looked like kind of got clipped somebody gets clipped they
08:05started leaning towards the other way so i believe the um it was a kawasaki rider that got hooked on
08:12seth i don't know was that levi and pull seth down i think it was levi that pulled him down
08:16but the question is what happened to levi something must have hit him
08:21yeah when the when the corner is going right these guys start going left it never ends well
08:26that kitchen is making an immense meat of this field he's already passed about half of the riders
08:3317th now for kitchen in six minutes yeah that's good seems like with the track it's gotten to a point
08:41to where the ruts are going to be to run so wherever it's flat it's pretty much going to stay
08:45that way so i
08:46think it's opened up the passing opportunities for these guys they look like they made some
08:50uh smoothments on the racetrack so they're able to hit some of the outsides but nonetheless levi's
08:54doing good jt yeah it is and we i love what you did there with the kitchen mints me thing
08:59but it is a
09:00little i think reassuring for kitchen when he sees handmaker down with him in the first corner now that
09:06doesn't help his points or his scoring position in this moto but at least he knows that his championship
09:10rival up to this point is in the same dire situation that he is so it's not going to be
09:15as much panic
09:16he's going to work forward get every single point he can but there's just that tinge of like oh okay
09:21well it's not as bad as it could be i think it moves in a hurry gage linville here on
09:25the 5 11 try
09:27out the 74 catch back up to the lead group you got davies who has now moved from sixth to
09:32fourth
09:32shimota shimota has the overall win right in front of him but he's actually drifted back a bit and it's
09:39going to help romano's cause this would be an unbelievable story if nick romano the fill-in
09:45rider for pro circuit could get the win there he is on the 141 but he's under fire from deep
09:52francesco yeah i'm assuming joe must have went down because he was up there or maybe my mistake but
09:57yeah the the one you got to watch for is the guy in fourth right now cole davies i do
10:02believe like he
10:03showed a lot of pace he was uh second fastest actually was your fastest on the racetrack but almost
10:08uh second over uh router d in front of him so he has the pace and he just came through
10:14the pack so
10:15joe better catch a toe okay joe is back going behind davies shimota's going to need a couple of passes
10:23got to get to romano and beat him in this moto because he only beat romano by one spot in
10:28the
10:29first moto so romano would have tiebreaker in position if he finishes ahead of shimota so at least right now
10:36the overall win today is a battle between the green 141 of romano and the red 30 of shimota and
10:43there's a pass by de francisco yeah nick got caught on that outside and and can't go the long ways
10:49around that make that mistake roderd was able to slide up the inside great pass and good to see him
10:54up
10:54here promising supercross season a couple crashes this outdoor season but make no mistake this kid has a
11:00lot of speed he just needs to be up front and he can show it do you think romano has
11:05any idea he's
11:06leading this thing overall yeah probably you think so knows his teammates down oh there goes easy pass
11:11easy work there for the 37 davies yeah i don't know if he's pumped up oh no davies
11:18goes down i know that's going to be tough in the shower later on a little road rash up there
11:24but that
11:25just shows you the traction or the lack thereof on this racetrack he was pushing it both tires
11:30starts pushing um and he goes down uh bummer for cole so we think shimota might have gone down at
11:37one
11:37point now same pink for davies it is all sorts of mixed up and davies now back to seven of
11:45the young
11:45australian kate meneer who got in front of him then there's been here at the 99. deacon denno another
11:55rookie had a good start last week on the 5 11 triumph looking good on the 199 then it's davies
12:04carson mumford was quick last week yeah looking at the points uh nick and joe tied on points
12:11the uh rider d's and third the two pf class is making it difficult on my map problems right now
12:16i can't deal with it like the single digits levi kitchen is going to be in a position here a
12:22little
12:22bit for an overall victory still how many people struggle with that five out of four baby
12:28we're going to give you the update here on the fly racing riders in this field as davies goes to
12:33work
12:34on denno just a moment we'll give you that update been a struggle today for hymus again
12:40who was the race winner here last year he's in 13th there's the pass yeah good recovery by cole
12:47probably take some a few corners to settle back up hopefully he got his mechanic probably told him
12:52hey we're still in this thing we need to fight levi's in the back he understands that still got 20
12:57minutes left plus two laps in this race kitchens the 14th let's hear about that rookie deacon denno jt
13:03yeah and jason it's not so much just about denno it's really about the youth in this top 10. look
13:08you've got sasha kunin making his first ever pro motocross race winning here you've got landon
13:13gordon in what his maybe fourth or fifth ever pro motocross race kade muneer with a similar number in
13:18six deacon denno his third ever pro motocross race so the youth is really showing up and carson wood
13:23was 10th now 11th in his first ever pro motocross race so the youngster's really showing up in moto 2.
13:29yeah wood is just 16 years old the plan for now is to wood for wood to race a couple
13:34of these
13:35but not so many that he loses his amateur eligibility and then go to the monster energy
13:39championship at loretta lynn's for amateurs but if he does really well the team might just keep wood
13:45on full time running 11 right now yeah how good these amateurs are these days it's probably not much
13:52easier racing amateur we've seen these kids come out and uh especially the next program and compete
13:58next weekend how about this sasha kunin wheeling away and looking for the moto win
14:08now he not his first race in america because he was part of the belgium team
14:12for the motocross of nations was fast that day made some mistakes
14:16he's fast in the first moto made some mistakes but so far he's got it right now yeah but i
14:22would say
14:22this is his first race only because the the destinations you end up racing against 450s and
14:27stuff so like i said with his brother there's 10 reasons why this shouldn't be possible but these
14:33kids got a lot of heart a lot of determination it is wow making that roger de costa fly racing
14:40gear look good kunin's first you look at the fly racing riders heinus we mentioned before 13th
14:46boland 17th turner ross timbo and schwartz on the bar axe toyota redlands yamaha's out there as well
14:52so yeah the gear here that fly racing came up with is designed to look like the man roger de
14:57costa
14:58the superstar of the sport in the 1970s a belgium native as well and he manages k-10's racing operations
15:05so it's great to be able to work with these riders roger is 82 years old they are 19. so
15:11i cannot say
15:12they grew up as roger fans necessarily i mean luckily you're still in it luckily they still
15:17watched you growing up so you're 19. yeah you still respect it i'm glad you threw out roger's
15:23age because that saves me i feel way young but um you're watching a little grown man not here and
15:29whatnot no putting it down these kids are teams coming over here doing work it looks like shimota has
15:35the gap to romano down to one second that would be the battle for the overall win today you see
15:42the event points on the left side and here is that battle they're currently tied romano would have
15:47it second moto is a tiebreaker but for how long yeah when you ask me that question does nick know
15:54um you're about to find out yeah depends on how he fights joe if joe gets around and does he
16:00run a wheel back in on him but overall i'm do a lot of things and i'm sure nick to
16:05be able to get his
16:05first one joe's had one before an opportunity for him
16:12unbelievable for pro circuit if romano holds on they have the first three wins of the year with
16:18three different riders really showing how strong these motorcycles are this year here's kitchen more
16:25work he has caught kindness yeah i was looking at it he's been stuck in 14 for a little bit
16:30now but
16:31he had to make up a little bit of time on chance and he's got to keep pushing for
16:39and with the word kitchen is done he would actually take over the championship lead by one point at the
16:45moment he throws the field over hamacre set the little further back he's in 19th and darren kelly here
16:5477 on the mx6 sons of our fathers kawasaki here's kitchen yeah levi's doing really good and it just
17:03shows you how impressive this rod is if he can continue because it's really hard for anyone to
17:07come up through this field look at seph i mean he's kind of been stuck in that same position how
17:12difficult this racetrack is so cole davies the same thing really impressed that first moto with the passes
17:19uh-oh it's joe's time right there james looking for the move of romano this for the overall the bottom
17:25box yeah now if i'm joe i want hrc to let me know that this is for an overall with
17:31nick so you know hey
17:32don't leave that corner open maybe some races nick wouldn't come back in but like i said you do a
17:38lot
17:38of things for an overall victory in this class oh yeah kitchen meanwhile that battle with hymens had
17:44feet off the pegs and the ruts lost a ton of ground to hymens so still stuck in 14. kunan
17:50leads the moto
17:52de francisco second but this battle romano and shimota that all comes down to this jt it does and for
17:58shimota you know i was thinking it's been a long time since we've seen wasabi joe show up you know
18:03it's a nickname that the honda hrc guys use for joe when he's in the zone when he's feeling it
18:09and he goes
18:09to that other place that's wasabi joe we have not seen that i don't know maybe all of 2026 so
18:17if
18:17it was ever a time to break it back out it would be right here right now to grab that
18:21overall win
18:22it's some water it's wasabi time i feel like joe's here um and like i said earlier the first
18:28motor he real good but looking at levi kitchen our points leader seth it is just very very hard to
18:34make passes in this field and as you get up the passes get even more difficult so joe's riding
18:39really good stuck in his head from the the roost to get an overall victory that's uh wasn't probably
18:46a lot on a lot of people's veto card for sure this is the battle for the win halfway mark
18:51of the moto
18:51reminder to stock up on monster energy shimota versus romano will
18:58be able to get a little bit more comfortable as i've been talking to ben griffis joe shimota's
19:02mechanic shane drew the crew chief over there for the 250 he's just asking kind of where joe's at
19:08you know because the results have been relatively consistent but not consistently on the podium up
19:12front and they both said this is about the starts there's been a big focus this week on those starts
19:18it was a bit so so once again there in moto to imagine the world where joe has got these
19:23starts because
19:24he has been the most consistent rider really and they said also we have to remember back-to-back
19:29injuries for joe he had that very serious um upper back there neck injury and then of course you know
19:35he had the he had the leg his broken leg there so they said that's a lot of time away
19:39from the fight
19:40that's a lot of uh no gate drops a lot of confidence knocking so the message really coming from them
19:45was once we get a start just watch this space because they're very happy with the way joe's been moving
19:50through the pack as you've noted james and uh we're seeing it happen again it might result in an
19:55overall but we still haven't seen him go out in front and get that win on the moto but just
20:00kind
20:00of help thinking that it's coming yeah and just going uh expanding on that a little bit more when
20:04you talk about the injuries i felt like with joe coming back because he has some um gnarly injuries
20:08you know just having that confidence in yourself i actually believe because he hasn't been getting bad
20:14stars it's probably why once he does get it he's able to ride because to me the way he's looked
20:19at first
20:20race if you put him out front he might have not rode like this but because he had bad start
20:24and he had to just let loose and race and past these guys probably let his instincts come back found
20:30his
20:30racing form to where now he's back but he's got a bigger problem his motorcycle smoking now smoking
20:35joe he's smoking joe right now look on the right side of that bike on the bottom part oh wow
20:46this is it if the bike holds on it's the battle for the overall romano hanging tough
20:51he has improved so much on the late race endurance compared to the first weekend of the year at fox
20:58raceway but has he improved enough to hold off joe who is maybe the toughest rider in this field late
21:04in the race oh that's like smoking a lot more now yeah it's smoking and hopefully maybe it's just
21:08because it's overheating i can hear joe repping that motorcycle up but we're at altitude as joe tries
21:14to go around outside the bikes running hotter up here because they're starving for oxygen so easy to
21:19happen so it happened yesterday and even earlier today so joe's gonna have to keep this thing and
21:25try to manage it but i doubt he knows at this moment jt oh just remember guys remember hayden deegan
21:32last year he had to pass jt they get makes the move there but hayden deegan basically had to milk
21:37his
21:38bike all the way to the finish line with a similar issue over revving the motorcycle using the clutch too
21:43much so nothing that dramatic yet for joe but he could be there if he doesn't take it easy yeah
21:48and
21:48i'm looking at it it's coming out the drain plug down there so that's actually a good thing because
21:51that is overheating it looks like overflow yeah the overflow which saying that bike is hot so you might
21:59have an opportunity it's gonna be hard because he's battling but maybe try to cool that thing down
22:06a little bit interesting to see if they put on the pit board to stay off the clutch because when
22:10the smoke's coming out there as a rider do you even know it you even see it no the only
22:14time you know
22:15it is like if there's a big puff or you start feeling like the antifreeze or water getting on you
22:19start sliding around okay and not gripping it that's when you look down but uh smoking joe don't know
22:24he's smoking right now back with kitchen so shimoda at the moment with that passing romano has taken
22:31the overall lead kitchen is digging for a podium today yeah hopefully that's wood yep yeah these
22:40guys in front of him get levi back in here because i believe that he's got an opportunity to make
22:46a few
22:47passes he's only about you know six seconds behind cole davies running in a nice place
22:54cold must have went down again well what's wild is first of kitchen can make this pass on wood and
23:00put
23:00him on the overall podium not bad for the first turn crash but the series points right now kitchen would
23:06have a two-point lead on hamager and a four-point lead on shimoda and bomer who's been solid all
23:12year
23:12would be down only 12. so every point is big for any one of these riders and if shimoda's bike
23:19can't hold on that would be an absolute disaster will i just spoke to crew chief and mechanic for joe
23:26shimoda and neither of them have heard over their radios that joe's bike is smoking so they have not
23:31made him aware because essentially right now the team is unaware that there's potentially any bike problems
23:38that could be good that could be bad yeah and the reason that is because some places it's not smoking
23:44which goes to me it's more about it overheating it seems like when the slower parts it starts smoking
23:49like right here you can see it but when he gets going it it opens up and they cannot see
23:54that so
23:56as long as joe's smoking he's all right that bike could continue to run is when it stops
24:00um that might be the issue hopefully it cools down
24:07so shimoda in control the overall but here's the podium attempt for kitchen
24:10in the bottom box we can make the move on young carson wood
24:17carson both of his grandparents are here this weekend to watch his pro debut they're very happy
24:21he has been flying out the test track so that's why they're giving him a shot as a pro
24:26he is right behind mumford has been riding very well as a plate on the aeo ktm that's the three
24:31rider battle in the bottom what a line by levi same line he was using that first moto that was
24:36even more
24:37impressive how rough it is and now you can start to see the aggressiveness coming from levi he sees
24:42these guys in front of him so if you can get these two that's going to change things and who
24:46knows how far
24:47he can go up wood really applying the pressure to mumford yeah this is going to help levi out these
24:59two battling try to catch them while they're battling each other sneak a little sneak attack
25:05as carson looks like he makes the pass so the 16 year old wood showing some toughness oh but a
25:12rough
25:13ride through that corner monkey trying to get him back not able to do it
25:17i love this 250 class because there's battles all the way down i mean we're down what 11 12 and
25:28uh yeah 10 11 12 these do the battle as levi makes that pass and is that enough for the
25:34overall podium
25:35for kitchen well this is going to help he just made it two for one logo time levi
25:42so he's around wood where is hammaker 16 and it is enough yeah kitchen will go to second overall
25:50though yeah you got cole davies in front of him and and it's kind of strange yes i agree
25:57yeah the way he's rotting you're starting to wonder does does he have bike issues as well we heard him
26:03that first moto last weekend yeah i'm not sure what the issue was last week when i talked to davies
26:10yesterday
26:10he just said i'm not sure what i'm supposed to say we had a problem he got 11th in that
26:14moto
26:17yeah there he is it's not like the truth to get into a good story but kitchen has definitely
26:22reeling him in now james you can see davies right there yeah and if i'm levi i know this is
26:27going to
26:27be one of the guys and i'm going to fight for this championship so that's even more motivation to try
26:31to
26:31get him and yeah if he can get this pass he's already in second overall at this moment
26:38is it conceivable that he could make up four more points four more passes and actually somehow get
26:46the overall win despite the crash yes it's going to be tough he's got about 10 seconds of the game
26:52but
26:52i did say he's going to be at the end of his moto possibly fight for his overall victory now
26:57as for
26:58hamacre here he is if it ends like this he'll lose the red plate to kitchen but he is digging
27:03as well
27:05he just got around dudley for 15.
27:10kitchen in hot pursuit of davies yeah really i mean those two were down together in that first corner so
27:17i'm sure seth you know he did a good job at fighting back probably gonna be a little bummed
27:22once he looks up and see how far levi was able to climb up because he just did it last
27:26weekend so
27:27i didn't lose that point sleeve but the number 47 has been right great all day long
27:32very impressive he continued marching his way up kitchen is 10. if you got davies that'd be one point
27:39denno veneer omair he would need to get there i believe and i'm literally counting on my fingers you
27:44can verify i'm doing it right in front of you to get to the overall win that would be unbelievable
27:49one pass at a time and he's going for it around the outside
27:53got it yeah no he looked like he had it almost like he hit like a pothole and
27:58he kind of knocked his hand off the throttle and kind of stalled out there but nonetheless
28:04yeah levi's uh no no matter how he finished i think this is a win today the way he rode
28:10that first
28:10moto to be able to come up and then ultimately like take over to points league if he's able to
28:15finish this thing out with a second place after going down the first corner levi's solid
28:21and he has officially taken the measure of davies again second overall he needs three more positions
28:28to be able to knock shimoda off of the top overall spot and what can you say about the moto
28:35oh
28:36is that a mistake there for the 47th yeah he probably wanted to get to that inside so it
28:40looked like he stalled it out yeah small mistake but no harm no file he's got to get a little
28:45distance oh but by the way didn't he just fly over for somewhere and he just showed up would look
28:52it yeah he was just like riding in california a couple days ago unbelievable yeah maybe first
28:56time at altitude riding a bike on the team that he is not familiar it's different than what he's
29:01racing and i feel like i just saw him win last weekend somewhere else in a whole different
29:06country and he comes over here and does it here so far looks good yes sweeping the motos last weekend
29:12in latvia and now looking for a moto win here now this is sasha kun and he's not going to
29:18make the
29:18overall podium because of the bad first moto but what a performance here jt it sure is and and just
29:24thinking about their future plans they're going to go back and they're going to go to italy to race
29:29next weekend the following weekend they go all the way down to south africa for a grand prix down
29:34there and then they'll be back for southwick so what a travel schedule in front of them and just
29:40going from south africa to south wick alone that is enough to ask in and of itself but i think
29:45there's
29:46a bright future ahead of pretty obvious from these results yeah i think i'm going to agree with that
29:51these kids can ride no doubt about it the 19 year 19 year old twins from belgium and the other
29:58thing
29:58about sasha you only saw it in this moto he is an unbelievable starter and that'll obviously serve
30:03him well now a lot of the belgian riders and the dutch you know the neighboring country are known for
30:08the sand riding but the kunens a couple of years ago moved to france because they wanted to get more
30:14riding in on hardpack because they know they need to be more versatile than just being sand masters so
30:19they're good on sand but they do a lot of work on this type of terrain and you can see
30:23it pay off today
30:23yeah i mean spoiler alert if you can ride sand you can ride anything uh to be honest because they
30:28all kind of similar whether it's hard pack you've got to keep the momentum up whether it's mud same
30:32thing and so i think sand is a challenge not only to to learn how to shift the motorcycle keep
30:37momentum
30:37but also physically um it's really hard too so very impressed but we did talk on the call this weekend
30:45and what sasha's doing it's not surprising he did say it wouldn't be surprised if he came out one in
30:50the moto and had some troubles in the other one but to me listen to jet lawrence talk about how
30:55difficult the racetrack is knowing how difficult after racing on it i'm impressed for them to adapt
31:01because i know this track has not been the same each time they've been on the racetrack come to altitude
31:06you know there's a lot of pressure on him but talking to him yesterday knowing everything that's
31:11going on i'm more impressed about them being able to handle all the adversity and then come out and look
31:16like he did a week ago out front in his own series that's what makes this kid special not what
31:22he's
31:23doing right now we know he's fast but it's doing all that the way he's doing it very impressive
31:29kitchen still trying to dig back there in nine oh wait a minute this is going to help shimoda he
31:37is
31:37starting to close on deeper sesco could get a little insurance because right now he's only two points ahead
31:42of kitchen overall but he's closing on de francisco de francisco by the way would be looking at his
31:49first career podium overall in pro motocross
31:56at least at the moment but if he gets passed by shimoda he'll be bumped back
32:01that jt asked for wasabi time i believe is here joe's heating up joe's been heating up by his bike
32:09he's
32:10up for a few laps we haven't seen it in a bit so maybe like no more worries cooling down
32:15a little
32:15bit all right he's heating up bike's going down he's caught rider d he's been very good so far this
32:21year making steps on the rockstar husky wow is this track brutal at this point he just sawed it out
32:28those holes down there yeah and this kind of goes back to my point what i was saying with joe
32:33earlier
32:33because he's had bad stars he's learned how to race again you know and all that fear kind of goes
32:38away
32:39because there's so much chaos around you i think that helped joe in this situation but now he's
32:44following rider d and he's like man i've been getting bad starts i'm used to pushing all the way
32:48to the end and we know how fast he is so if he gets that start now i believe that
32:52riding matches and
32:53joe's been riding great all day long and he holds on another two and a half laps
32:59gonna be what third race coming into season we wouldn't chalk that up on a good season only four
33:04points down four and five points down seven seven now seven points down yeah because kitchen's made
33:10a few spots up but yeah for what seems to be a slow start to the year seven points down
33:16after six
33:16motos yeah and i would is absolutely in it and i would say probably all his championships this is
33:21probably the closest he's been after three races to the lead so in all you know hindsight
33:28it's actually a great start to the season for joe and hrc if they can hold this thing off a
33:33couple
33:33more laps that's right joe normally known as a closer doing his best work late into the championships
33:39all over de francisco with two to go so the overall today at least as of now will be shimoda
33:46kitchen
33:46de francisco it almost was the dream ride for romano he's still riding very well but he'd be fourth
33:52overall and then sasha kunin with the moto win but the top 14th in moto one would be fifth overall
34:01rider d see what he's made of here down the stretch gotta dig deep
34:07yeah he is joe's got some good lines you can see just starting to work some of those outside
34:12keeping that momentum up start making rider d guess and
34:17he can make that pass all this is going to help is just the points and close that gap to
34:23the uh
34:24championship because right now he has overall so for him but joe doesn't know anything different
34:29right in front of us time to pass you know this guy is so strong late in the races so
34:34this is not
34:34going to be easy for de francisco so joe wanted to get to that inside there he just missed it
34:40could
34:40bike wouldn't hook up
34:50gonna be white flag next time around
34:54nice job joe struggled to get over that tabletop just shows the lack of power on these motorcycles
35:05kitchen still going deacon deno though solid in this moto on the triumph at eight
35:12yeah good good rod i mean it comes down to a lot of these kids we talked about over the
35:16last couple
35:17weeks sasha looks like she went off track thank for him he had a pretty big fleet
35:24yeah he's all right here on the 109 about to see the white flag with a seven second gap
35:33yep racing in lafayette last weekend a couple of days out in california to get it used to the american
35:40bike and so far so good except for this yeah that's a double oh that was close right there
35:47yeah great riding by him no harm no foul gets back on on the track but that that could have
35:52been
35:52really bad he looked like he bottomed out cross-rutted and same day go back on levi and and deacon
35:59like
35:59a lot of these kids i mean it really just comes down to a start because they have the speed
36:05to do it
36:05as levi makes his way up but still a great ride by him and look at these guys levi gets
36:10another point on
36:10seven so now kitchen is would need two more points on this last lap if shimoda cannot get
36:17de francisco it's not quite over if i look back there do i see shimoda still battling and yes
36:25shimoda just made the pass on de francisco so that's going to make the overall mouth a little easier
36:31for joe well when we met these two yesterday lucas and sasha they were so happy so pumped
36:40especially to meet you they came over here to say can we get a picture with james which is what
36:46the fans say this guy's good enough to win motos and i said to lucas i said are you sure
36:51you're going
36:51to be able to lock in tomorrow like at some point it's got to get serious and they were honestly
36:54a
36:55little concerned but obviously when the helmet went on they knew what to do yeah but i mean
37:01tomai you come over this has been a dream and there is truthfully both of them i would have to
37:05say
37:05they probably lived up to the expectation this dream come true because lucas understands after
37:11rod here i can come over here and compete immediately um so that's that's good same thing
37:16with uh sasha what he's doing in this moto but man i i am really impressed you guys hear me
37:23talk
37:23about these rods i'm impressed with all of them but i get more impressed about what they do inside
37:27their head all those challenges and you now face a lot of adversity in the different ways and
37:32can't say enough about what they're doing today yep transatlantic travel much time zones different bike
37:39different series tracks they don't know formats they don't know what worries this one's just powered
37:45by the fact that it's the dream they want to come to america and win in america and in the
37:51second moto
37:52sasha kunin takes a moto win in thunder valley and this should be enough for joe shimota
38:02to take the win overall in thunder valley uh joe shimota's first win of the year congrats uh joe but
38:08look at the point seth has made some passes they're tied wow okay so let's shake this all out shimota
38:15made
38:15that pass on defrancisco for second defrancisco third bomair got around romano but yes seth hamaker
38:22never gave up got the 12th and it should be a co-share of the point lead for the kawasaki
38:28riders
38:34and joe congratulates sasha
38:39didn't win any motos today doesn't matter joe shimota the overall winner
