00:00Yesterday, those highlights you just saw, Friday afternoon versus end of the day Saturday.
00:05It is going to be absolutely brutal out here.
00:08Let's see what the riders in WMX can do in the second moto.
00:13Yeah, they did a little bit of work on the track, so that'll help a little bit.
00:15Got to worry about vision because the sun's starting to go down behind these mountains.
00:19It's another challenge for it.
00:22Here it is.
00:2312 minutes and a lap.
00:25WMX Moto 2.
00:30Much better start for Turner this time.
00:33And Lachlan's going to lead them with the whole shot.
00:37Great start by the champion.
00:39Looks like somebody went down.
00:40It looks like a little bit better start for Van Druinen up there.
00:43She was on the far outside.
00:45Obviously going to be tough being low on power, but number one, just like we've seen it at 450 class
00:50Jettlin Hoist.
00:52Don't want to see her out front.
00:54Exactly, because she was able to make quick work of the field with a bad start in the first moto.
00:59But we're going to see, with the track being that much rougher, seemed to work in the favor of Cannon
01:05last week at Hangtown.
01:07Because Cannon was better in the Saturday moto last week than she was in the Friday moto.
01:11We'll see this time.
01:13Yeah, Charlie was really strong going down the hills, really kind of powering her way through some of these, you
01:18know, break-in bumps.
01:19But the one thing is, you can't let, you know, Lachlan get out front and get comfortable, just like Jettlin
01:24Hoist in that 450 class.
01:25She can get away and it'd be hard for Charlie to go, but she's going to let it hang out.
01:29We know that for sure.
01:32McCutcheon, who's been solid so far, jumping into American Racing, is third.
01:36Van Druinen, like you said, got a better start.
01:39Her bike is stock, so you know she's definitely at a power disadvantage.
01:43It's just literally, I think, Monday or Tuesday when the Van Druinen program got put together.
01:49Love seeing the fans sticking around for this moto.
01:54See what Cannon can do on the Quad Lock Honda.
01:57Yeah, it looks good.
01:57JT.
01:59Guys, I was wondering, like you guys were, what happened to Charlie Cannon in that first moto yesterday?
02:05We knew she went down, but not necessarily what.
02:07And I saw her walking through the paddock, and I said, hey, where did you crash?
02:10And she said the rollers after the first two corners at the start, that fast uphill section.
02:15I was like, that's not the place you really want to crash, just news flashes.
02:20She said, yeah, it felt about just like it sounds.
02:22So she's probably a little worse than the wear here.
02:24She's still going to try to chase down Lala Turner, but I think she's a little bit more sore than
02:28she'd like to like they do.
02:30Yeah, that's tough.
02:31And, you know, also, you know, being sore, the one thing you want to do is try to warm up.
02:36Like, they haven't ridden in six-plus hours.
02:38So to get out of here and go wide open, it's a challenge in itself.
02:42And if you're sore, that makes it even more.
02:45Number one being in front, it's just a triple whammy right there.
02:48But if anybody could do it, it'd be Charlie.
02:51Looks like Piper Bell has moved into the fourth place spot.
02:54Not sure.
02:54Oh, and the leader's down.
02:56Turner has crashed.
02:59Cannon takes the lead.
03:01Almost makes contact.
03:02Yeah, they make a little bit of contact there.
03:06A lot of changes, things in a hurry.
03:09You can see how difficult it is just to get up that hill.
03:12And, you know, I will say, so far this year, we've seen, you know, two out of three motos so
03:17far that Lachlan has thrown it away early in the moto.
03:21She obviously has the speed to come back, but from Charlie, I want to stay in there.
03:25You're going to see her.
03:26This is after the first quarter.
03:27She's going to get down and come out, just get on the gas.
03:30She loses to the front end, then loses to the rear end.
03:32Saw it in the other classes.
03:34They're doing the same thing.
03:35Easy can happen, but Charlie tried getting there.
03:38Tip right there.
03:39No harm.
03:41Wow, that could change it, maybe, for the overall here for Tannen, who would have it at the moment.
03:50Turner's got to get her back.
03:51It'd be a 2-1 versus a 1-2.
03:54And those crashes from Lala, that was kind of her rep a couple of years ago.
03:58She really cleaned it up last year.
04:01Obviously, she's much more dominated the championship.
04:04But, yeah, we have seen a couple of falls from her early, and now it's on for the lead.
04:09Yeah, but one thing she's been able to do is recover and really lay down some lap times.
04:14I mean, she was 4 1⁄2 seconds.
04:16Look at our timing.
04:17She's a lot closer to that, so she has that speed.
04:20And I will say the crashes this year, they're more tip-overs, just the way it is compared to her
04:24just throwing it away.
04:25So that pressure comes from Charlie, and all she's going to do is, especially if she's a little sore, just
04:30continue to fight,
04:31and maybe you get another mistake after.
04:34Turner looking for running room.
04:36Oh, comes up short on that double.
04:38She's injured from the inside.
04:40So right now, it's advantage, Cannon.
04:42Yeah, that was kind of funny.
04:44I was surprised that Lachlan went for it because she knew Charlie was going to do it,
04:47but she was like, I can't lose the time just what we saw Charlie do last weekend.
04:53Yeah, almost had the endo.
04:55Cannon for clipping a jump.
04:58Right there is Turner.
05:00This is the overall at the moment, but it could change at any moment.
05:04Turner's got a line on the inside.
05:06Drag race up the hill.
05:07Yeah, there it is.
05:08I mean, she missed her mark.
05:09She ends up going to the outside, and when I was just watching, it looks like Lachlan is just a
05:14little bit opening up her corners.
05:15Her momentum throughout the corners has been a little bit better than Charlie's, and I think that's why.
05:20But just like yesterday, Charlie gets another run coming up the inside.
05:23But Lachlan closes that door, hangs on to the lead.
05:26And able to get that double at the top.
05:28Man, it's just tracking rough right now.
05:31How hard would it be to adjust bike settings and everything else when you're racing on two different days?
05:38I mean, it's a lot different, and not only that.
05:41They rode today a little bit, but just the difference on the time, the time of the day.
05:48I think they're struggling with vision going up.
05:49How do you set up a motorcycle for, you know, after two 450 motos, two 250 motos?
05:56So that's another challenge that they're having to deal with, and there's no way to replicate it.
06:01There's no practice track in America that's set up like this, and they're coming out here.
06:05It shows you how great they are on motorcycles.
06:08This is Nielsen in red on the Honda.
06:10She just passed Piper Bell.
06:12So Nielsen at the back gate picked because of the bike problems late in the first photo yesterday.
06:17So a good recovery job for her.
06:22Also got Lillian Pettis in there.
06:25See if she could maybe get to McCutcheon, who is in third.
06:28That's the 51 Nielsen.
06:29Told her story a couple times on the SLR Honda.
06:33Was racing a lot of off-road, still does.
06:36But he's beginning to put more and more of an emphasis.
06:39It's the big booter jump back there on the motocross.
06:43Now that WMX has certainly wrapped up as a way to make a living in this sport.
06:47JT.
06:47Yeah, just mentioning that off-road racing in the NGCP series she does there.
06:51She's actually a perfect six for six so far this year.
06:55They have a hiatus throughout the summer, which they'll pick back up this fall.
06:58So truly multi-talented racer here in K.K. Nielsen.
07:02Yeah, thanks, JT.
07:03She's working her way forward and forth.
07:04But like I said, got a long way to go to get to McCutcheon.
07:07Hey, shout-out to Synchrony, which is the big sponsor for this series coming on board this year.
07:14Big battle back here.
07:16Scan that QR code to learn more about Synchrony.
07:18Look at this battle.
07:19So you get the 301 of Jarvis.
07:21It's Bell just ahead on the 167, the Orange KTM.
07:26There's Piper Bell.
07:28Jarvis in the 301 making passes, and she's got Lada Van Drunen right with her on the other Yamaha in
07:33blue.
07:34Yeah, I believe Lada went down early because she was running third place in the top four.
07:39So she went down and then being caught up, she missed a couple of these jumps, so easy to get
07:44past.
07:46Great battle right here.
07:48Piper Bell not giving up on this battle with Jarvis.
07:52Her top five.
07:54Piper's...
07:55Jordan closes her off, so all this is going to do is bring the two behind him back into this
08:00battle.
08:01Looks like Piper has a little bit more speed right now, but Jordan's doing a good job at holding her
08:06off.
08:07Watch out for Van Drunen, the two-time WMX champion in Europe.
08:12Third rider in this shot.
08:14JT.
08:14Well, this WMX series, you know, Van Drunen making her way forward.
08:18They're trying to match, I think, the 450 class.
08:21You think about it.
08:21Two Australians running near the front.
08:23They've got a Dutch motocross champion running inside the top seven here.
08:27So a lot of shades of what we just saw in 450 Moto 2.
08:31It really goes to show the talent that's trying to show up here in WMX.
08:36When the world comes to race in any class, no doubt about it, Bell hanging tough right now.
08:41Well, not giving up on this fight, but Jarvis, but there goes Van Drunen.
08:45Yeah, what a great pass by her.
08:48It's like Piper's going to try to hang on now.
08:51Oh!
08:51She still makes the move.
08:53Never give up.
08:54But I will say, you know, watching Lottie win those championships over the last couple
08:59of years, I mean, all the women over in Europe, they're fast as well.
09:03Like, they're on my DVR.
09:04I said I'm going to watch them every week when I watch the GP.
09:07So it's really cool.
09:08So I've actually had a chance to watch her ride, and she's great.
09:11It's the first time I ever had a chance to watch her in person.
09:14But another battle for fifth place.
09:16And then we mentioned there with Van Drunen, whipping it together with a stock motorcycle.
09:21We asked her about that yesterday.
09:26I'm racing next weekend as well.
09:28I don't really have a goal.
09:29I'm just here to get experience, and maybe some teams are interested to get me for next
09:35year, because now doing it with just one bike and two guys is really difficult.
09:40I'm just happy to be able to race here.
09:42So, yeah, just I want to be happy and maybe get some good results.
09:48Yeah, and I feel like with her just being down on power would be a huge disadvantage at this
09:53racetrack, because not only is it just power, it's setting up the ECU and getting that bike
09:57to get back to C-level, things would be a little bit more evened out.
10:01So she'll probably be better in the second race, back-to-back, and be more comfortable.
10:06But looking at the leader up there, Lachlan, she hasn't gotten away from Charlie.
10:11Charlie's within three seconds to play in this cat-and-mouse game.
10:15We've got to keep that pressure, number one.
10:17Yep.
10:18And a big distance to McCutcheon.
10:20Nielsen not able to close on McCutcheon.
10:23Then it's this battle.
10:24Jarvis, Bell, and then Drunin.
10:28Pettis, Milcevic, and Silvestri round out the top ten.
10:31Here is the leader, Lala Turner.
10:35Yeah, it's in the last book.
10:36Yeah, maybe she's just trying to manage this thing, keeping her far enough back so she
10:40can't do a sneak attack.
10:41But she knows how slippery this racetrack is.
10:44She doesn't want to go down again, especially being this late for Moto.
10:47And I believe there are some positions and penalties.
10:50So even from a championship perspective, things have changed.
10:54Will?
10:56Guys, we wanted to speak to a lot of these racers here that we're seeing out today.
11:00Kind of like recently, Supercross, we had a lot of interviews with them.
11:04And they're fierce competitors, just like the men.
11:06They are going out there to win.
11:08But in each and every one that I have spoken to, there's kind of like more going on.
11:15They are wanting to grow WMS.
11:18Collectively, they are friends, and they are all pushing in the same direction.
11:23And it's working.
11:24This series is growing.
11:25The fan base is growing.
11:28And it's incredible to see what they are doing individually on Drek,
11:31but collectively what they are doing for WMS.
11:35Impressive athletes and just impressive series.
11:38Yeah, very impressive.
11:40And Jason, I know it's a big night for you tonight.
11:44A little nervous about some other sporting events, yes.
11:46So you can kind of imagine everybody pushing towards the same goal, lifting up the team together.
11:51And that's what they're doing here.
11:53And there might be a championship one tonight.
11:55I know for sure the way they're coming out here competing.
11:59The series is here to stay.
12:01It's great to see.
12:01JT.
12:02Well, whether the Knicks win or not will be determined the rest of Weege's week.
12:07But, as far as the women all working towards this series, it's interesting to see them down by the podium.
12:13Because, I'm telling you guys, you know, the Warrens and the Deegans, there's like daggers in their eyes between all
12:18of them down at the podium.
12:20And then you watch these two, you know, you see Charlie and Wala going at each other.
12:24They're really, you know, there's a lot of competitiveness there.
12:27But when the helmets come off, they're there chatting, talking.
12:30I mean, Weege, you know this, Lux Turner is dating.
12:34Lux Turner is Wala Turner's brother.
12:36He is dating Charlie Cannon.
12:38I don't know that I've ever seen a situation that complex ever in my life.
12:42So, it's such a different dynamic than the men's side.
12:46So, it's one thing when the helmets come off, everybody's working towards the same goal.
12:49When the helmets come off, it's every woman for themselves.
12:52I mean, speaking of that, Lux, he might have to step up.
12:56They could be the first co-head.
12:58Yeah, getting on the podium or whatnot.
13:00I know, I know.
13:01His sister is throwing down.
13:02This battle is still going, by the way, with Van Drunen and Bell.
13:06But, yeah, that is absolutely crazy that Lachlan Turner's brother is dating Charlie Cannon,
13:11who's her closest rival on the track.
13:13But they have, to Will's point, kept it very friendly off the track.
13:20And you wouldn't know it watching these battles.
13:22And everybody can pee this friendly away from the races because they are going for it.
13:28Right now, Turner has pulled away a little bit from Cannon.
13:32Three and a half seconds to stick out.
13:33It was much bigger yesterday.
13:36Still going.
13:37Van Drunen finally able to make the move on Bell.
13:40Ryder out of Michigan.
13:41She's like, I'm making this pass right now.
13:44Either we're going to make this pass or we're both going off the racetrack.
13:47What a great pass by a lot of making it up into now.
13:50She's in, what, fourth place or not sixth place?
13:54Yeah, because Jarvis was able to get by as well.
13:57Bell has proven to be a pretty good starter here,
13:59we've seen in these first two rounds of the season.
14:02So she could be a force to be reckoned with.
14:04Asher Van Drunen, great job jumping in.
14:07Nielsen, we told her story with the bike problems yesterday
14:09when it looked like she was going to finish the moto in second.
14:14And then that led to the bike problems into the bad gate pick, bad start.
14:18Fourth might be as far as she can go.
14:20It's the last lap.
14:21She's cut the gap to McCutcheon to three seconds.
14:24Can she get there?
14:26Yeah, she's closed in.
14:27She was about two seconds faster that last lap and closed in.
14:30So, you know, when you talk about keeping her friendly off the racetrack,
14:33bigger termination on the racetrack.
14:36I mean, I'd be keen to find even some of the 450 and 250 class
14:40to commit to some of the jumps that I've seen Charlie
14:44and all these ladies come out here and take.
14:47Like, they want to win.
14:48They want to compete.
14:49And they take the chance.
14:50So they're closer off the racetrack.
14:52These girls, they're out here fighting for whatever it takes.
14:55Well, you can see it.
14:56Cannon is still in the shot in some of the longer sections of the track.
15:00Not wanting to give it to Turner for sure.
15:04And that's smart for her.
15:06I mean, what we saw from Lottie that first, Lala, that first moto,
15:11that first lap, I mean, that's just easily.
15:13That can happen right here.
15:14And that can only happen if Charlie continues with that pressure.
15:20Half a lap to go.
15:21Lala Turner, if she holds on, to be seven straight overall wins.
15:28Going back to Hangtown last year.
15:32But it has not been easy.
15:34There have been some great battles.
15:35Turner.
15:36Oh, here we go.
15:37Look at this.
15:38Nielsen got there.
15:40KK, she was able to get in.
15:41She had a good pace.
15:43Keep going.
15:44Now she moves up to third place.
15:46What a great ride.
15:46It gets to third.
15:47And it's going to affect the championship points because there were some point penalties
15:50for jumping on red cross flags yesterday.
15:54So the points are actually closer than you might imagine,
15:57considering Turner has won the motos.
16:00See the points right there.
16:01A nine-point gap for Turner over Cannon.
16:04I believe it was a ten-point penalty due to multiple infractions for Turner.
16:09A five-point penalty for Cannon.
16:10Jumped the same jump, but not as many times.
16:13So the points gap is nine.
16:15One mistake could change it.
16:17But it doesn't look like it's going to happen today.
16:19Lala Turner under control.
16:23And Lala Turner.
16:24One-ones it.
16:26At Thunder Valley.
16:29Great ride, great ride.
16:31Great ride by Mikayla, too.
16:33Yeah, way to dig deep.
16:35Make that move at the end.
16:38Finish line in sight now.
16:40Hey, look, Endurance is not a problem when you're racing off-road races.
16:43She's been out there for 90-some minutes.
16:47And just was able to take the measure of McCutcheon at the end.
16:50You're going to have Jarvis in fifth.
16:52Checkered flag is out.
16:55Moto KK.
16:58Going to finish that Moto third, but I believe McCutcheon will still get the overall podium
17:03because of the bike problems yesterday.
17:06Lala has a win.
