00:00Hello, very good evening to you. Through the next few days, we really will be chasing the cloud because where
00:05we get the clearer skies by night, it's going to turn colder and that will then lead to mist and
00:10fog developing in some places, especially because the winds are generally so light across the country as the high pressure
00:16is still dominant, even though it is drifting away towards the east.
00:20Now, we do have an occluded front across the country and that's bringing some thicker cloud, a bit of rain
00:24across initially the Midlands this evening, but it is pushing into more northern parts of England and then also across
00:31Northern Ireland as well through the early hours of Saturday.
00:33So turning quite wet, albeit the rain not especially heavy as we go through towards dawn. Elsewhere, some thick cloud
00:40for Scotland and north of England, a few spots of rain here.
00:43Some showers as well for some coastal parts towards the Irish Sea and also some south coastal areas as well,
00:49seeing a few showers overnight.
00:51But the driest, clearest weather will actually be across the central southern areas of England and Wales and it's where
00:57we get those clear skies.
00:58Like I said, we're going to see some fairly low temperatures, temperatures getting close to freezing, maybe a little bit
01:03below in some rural spots.
01:05So there could be a touch of frost around, but also that mist and fog.
01:09And because of the fact that many people will be having fireworks, bonfires at this time of year, that increases
01:14the chance of there being some fog first thing on Saturday morning.
01:19Further north, it's a cloudier picture, so I'm less concerned about mist and fog developing here, but there could still
01:24be a touch of frost in some prone spots.
01:26Through the day then, we have thicker cloud across much of Scotland and also Northern Ireland.
01:32Some fairly damp weather here down the eastern side of England, there'll also be some rain and that pushes into
01:37parts of Scotland too.
01:39Central southern England and Wales, however, having a mixture of some bright sunny spells, once any mist and fog has
01:44cleared away, and then a few showery bursts of rain, mainly towards the south.
01:48The focus of the showers will be shifting a bit eastwards through the day.
01:52Some of them could be a bit on the heavy side.
01:54Temperatures are going to be around or a little bit below average for the time of year, so most areas
01:58just about getting into double digits.
02:00If you get the sunshine, not feeling too bad, especially with those light winds, but if you're stuck under the
02:06cloud, yeah, there's going to be a cool feel to things for sure.
02:10It takes a little while for that front that's bringing the cloud, the rain across Scotland and Northeast England to
02:16fizzle out, but it will eventually do so through Saturday night and into Sunday,
02:20bringing some more persistent rain for a time across Northern England before it does break up later on.
02:25And then there will be a few spots of rain dotted around elsewhere, but again, central southern areas having the
02:31driest, clearest weather,
02:32and still with those light winds and actually more clear sky than through Friday night, I'm expecting mist and fog
02:39to be more of an issue first thing on Sunday morning.
02:42So some fairly dense, widespread fog in places.
02:45Again, we have the issue with bonfires and fireworks adding to the fog risk.
02:49And where the fog doesn't develop, but you have clear skies, well, that's where we're most likely to see temperatures
02:55dropping a few degrees below freezing.
02:57So some frost, there could even be a bit of freezing fog in a few places.
03:01Towards the northwest of the UK, clearer skies perhaps than this coming night, so it could be a bit chillier
03:06here with temperatures dropping, again, a few degrees below freezing and sun-prone spots.
03:10So a chilly, perhaps even foggy start for many of us on Sunday morning.
03:15But like I said, that rain across northeastern areas of England does fizzle out and break up.
03:19And then actually for large chunks of the country, Sunday looks a bit brighter and a bit drier than on
03:26Saturday.
03:26There will still be some spots of rain eastern parts of Scotland, northeast England, and perhaps eastern parts of Northern
03:32Ireland,
03:32a few spots of rain and the odd spot here and there.
03:35But generally, actually a lot of fine, dry, maybe sunny weather to be had western parts of Scotland, much of
03:41Wales, central southern England as well,
03:43seeing some decent sunshine.
03:45Temperatures, if anything, will be similar, maybe a little bit lower on Sunday than Saturday.
03:49So a bit of a fresh feel, especially where you get that cloud.
03:52But still, that sunshine, I mean, it makes all the difference.
03:55And where we have light winds, it's not going to feel too bad.
03:59The generally settled weather, that continues as we go into next week.
04:02High pressure is still the talking point to start off with.
04:05However, there is unsettled weather out in the Atlantic, an area of low pressure that's driving some heavy rain to
04:11parts of Europe,
04:12and that's going to try to edge its way in.
04:15So whilst Monday is looking mostly fine, I think as we go through next week,
04:18we are going to see a bit of a change to something much more unsettled.
04:22We'll keep you on top of that, so do stay with us.
04:25I'll see you again soon. Bye-bye.
