00:00I'm Rob Taylor. A years-long fight over library books in Pine Richland has come to an end.
00:05Let's get the latest from NewsRadio K2K's Tamira Rush.
00:08The Pine Richland School Board voted 6-2 with one board member abstaining to repeal its library book policy on
00:14Monday.
00:15The policy created a formal process for challenging books in school libraries
00:19and became the center of debate after some residents pushed to remove titles they considered inappropriate.
00:25Supporters of the repeal say trained librarians should make decisions about library materials
00:30and parents can still address concerns with schools directly.
00:33Opponents argue the move removes an important layer of oversight.
00:37District officials say library guidelines and parental review options will remain in administrative regulations.

00:46President Trump said the pilots are fine after a U.S. Army helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz.
00:53Trump did not provide further information on what happened but said a report will be issued later today.
00:59The pilots are fine, yeah.
01:01Nobody injured. We are going to issue a report, but the pilots are fine, yeah.
01:05A reporter in the New York Times said it was not clear what had brought down the helicopter.
01:10This note for riders of the T in the South Hills.
01:12PRT says a tree is blocking part of the Silver Line in the South Hills,
01:16so that means shuttle buses will take riders from the library station this morning to the Lytle station.
01:21Stop and get the stations in between, and then riders will board the T at the Lytle station
01:26and then head towards the Washington Junction.
01:30Pennsylvania is seeing its worst measles outbreak in nearly 35 years.
01:34Here's NewsRadio KDKA's Pat Septak.
01:36State health officials have confirmed a total of 60 cases of measles in Pennsylvania this year.
01:41That is the highest number in more than three decades.
01:44Dozens of school-age children in southeastern PA are now falling ill to the highly contagious disease,
01:50driven largely by a growing number of parents who are choosing not to immunize their children,
01:54which begs the question, could we soon see an outbreak here in western Pennsylvania?
01:59UPMC's chief medical officer, Dr. Don Yealy, says it's not a matter of if.
02:03When will it come to us?
02:05Not if it will, but when will it come to us?
02:07Because measles spreads so quickly.
02:09If you're in a room, like the room I'm sitting in right now,
02:13if I was unvaccinated and someone with measles came in here,
02:16there's a 95% chance of walking out with it eventually.
02:19He says the best way to protect yourself and your family?
02:21Get vaccinated.
