00:06A young man has been charged following the use of counterfeit money in Roma, Queensland.
00:13Police allege that the 23-year-old man presented counterfeit $50 notes at two discount variety stores.
00:20The man then allegedly attempted to use a counterfeit note at a hotel, but was unsuccessful.
00:26He will appear before Roma Magistrates Court on September 3rd.
00:31Queensland Police are urging the community to take a moment to check cash before accepting it.
00:37You can check if cash is real by first feeling the note.
00:41Run your fingers across it. It should be a smooth piece of plastic, but a little rougher on the dark
00:48ink.
00:49When you hold the note up to the light, you should see a hidden image in the corner of the
00:54banknote.
00:55For the newer series of banknotes, look to the top corner and tilt the banknote.
00:59You'll see a rolling bar of colour.
