00:00Just another inside. Here it is. Rebs her up. Gets down.
00:11Cooper Webb from down to the first turn to a hole shot off the restart.
00:16Jet and Hunter right behind him.
00:17That is Cooper Webb right there.
00:19Like down on the first corner.
00:21Jet tries to slide up the inside, makes that move.
00:23But last guy on the first lap before the restart and hole shots his moto.
00:27Cooper Webb rolls and reverse for Hunter Lawrence now.
00:31Jet Lawrence is out front.
00:33Now if I'm Hunter Lawrence, I've got to get around Cooper Webb if I want to make a pass on
00:37Jet Lawrence.
00:37At least keep him inside. Not sure where Hayden Deegan is.
00:41Yeah, good start for the Ducatis.
00:42Both Barsha and Ferrandez coming through next as Hunter trying to work Webb over it.
00:47It's roll reversal, like you said, with the brothers on the restart.
00:50Yeah, you can see Jet Lawrence is already trying to put out.
00:53And if you watch the body language in that first one before the red start,
00:56he was looking back, you know, just saying, like, all right, Hunter, I know he's going to be strong.
01:00Let me be here.
01:01Now he's trying to put that gap in there because he knows how strong his brother is.
01:04Hunter Lawrence goes past Cooper Webb.
01:07Picks the bike up.
01:08Wheelies down the downhill.
01:09Look at Webb fighting back.
01:11The three-time Supercross champion not messing around here in motocross.
01:16Yeah, he was able to get past him, but Cooper had a better line than that outside.
01:20So he had that momentum as Hunter Lawrence slides up the inside of him now.
01:24So the Lawrence is 1-2.
01:27Barsha, Sexton, Ferrandez, Tondal, Hefshire, Marchbanks, Deegan, top 10.
01:34All right, here we go.
01:37Nice line by Hunter right there.
01:41So the damage in lap 1, 1.4 seconds.
01:44The distance between the brothers.
01:46Hunter already starting to close back up.
01:48Yeah, he knows, like he saw what happened that first race with Jet Lawrence, like being out front.
01:53And he knows how good his brother is.
01:54And if anybody knows how he's feeling, Hunter does that.
01:58So see if he has the same tendencies as what he had last year.
02:02Last year he was trying to apply the pressure, but he would kind of let Jet settle in.
02:06I believe Hunter is a different rider, so if I'm him, we're going to keep it clean.
02:10But I want to attack my brother right now.
02:12I want to be in front of him.
02:13I feel like if I can, probably the fitness is more on my side.
02:17I've been racing all year, but I've got to get in front of him to the number one.
02:22And they're quickly rolling away from everyone else.
02:26Chase Sexton, 2024 champ.
02:28Another good start on the Monster Kawasaki.
02:30He's battling Webb for third.
02:33Yeah, that's good for Chase.
02:34He actually was a little bit farther down, so he's made some passes early in the race.
02:39Good for him.
02:40See if he can pull up.
02:42I believe Cooper Webb, he gets close up, probably won't fight him too hard, but we'll find out, JT.
02:46Yeah, and this is good to see from Chase Sexton.
02:48You know, he was third on that first start before the red flag, and I was like, oh, that is
02:52so how it's gone for Chase Sexton lately.
02:54He gets a red flag once he finally gets a good start, but he rebounded here, gets another good start.
02:59And that first moto did not go to plan.
03:01And he heard reports that he was not very excited about it after the first moto.
03:04So this is an opportunity to kind of turn the tide and get things going back the right direction.
03:08Well, JT, it was interesting.
03:10Right before that restart, I had made a mention to someone that Chase, Hunter, and Jet all looked so cool,
03:15calm, and collected, as though they weren't ruffled at all.
03:17And it's interesting now that Chase is up to fourth.
03:19They also had a great week of testing in California.
03:21They found a little something for him, fine-tuned that suspension for some extra comfort.
03:26But they also got that front end better on angle for him, and that was really important with the bike.
03:30This bike, specifically for him to be more comfortable on.
03:34Well, thanks, Katie.
03:35He shows right now.
03:36He just made the move on wet.
03:38So Sexton is up to third, but already about four seconds back.
03:43Yeah, if I'm Chase Sexton, if I'm struggling with the motorcycle, it's almost a dangerous spot to be in,
03:48because you know Jet Lawrence is right there.
03:51And if you feel uncomfortable, it's hard not to want to push for those guys.
03:55You're going to have to push and stay in that top three anyway.
03:57So weird spot for him to be able to find out how this race goes, but good to see him
04:02up here fighting.
04:03And this is Hayde Deegan running down his seventh position, basically the same start he had the first time before
04:09the restart.
04:10So not a good start for him.
04:12I believe he got closed off by Hunter Lawrence, but we'll see where he goes to work.
04:16So this is the two-time 250 champ, moving up to this 450 class with a lot of hype,
04:21because that's what the Deegan family does.
04:23They're not afraid to hype it up.
04:26Solid in the first moto, battled Hunter Lawrence for most of it for second,
04:29ended up third, a little bit worse start here.
04:32But he's about to put these two Ducati's into what he calls a danger zone as he closes in.
04:37Yeah, we know when Hayde's been on the 250, this is this kind of track.
04:40Rough, late in the day.
04:42You know, he feels comfortable in this position, but this 450 is a different motorcycle.
04:46And I believe a lot of that comes down to how he finishes.
04:49It's going to be how he works on the motorcycle.
04:51Does he make it better?
04:52You've got to improve the bike to be competitive in this 450 class.
04:55We'll see if the Honda Star Racing Yamaha is going to work on it too.
04:58We've got the Red Bull Troy Lee Designs, Ducati's right there.
05:03This is Ferrandez, 2021 champ of the series.
05:07They've improved massively since their first pro motocross race last week.
05:13But I don't know if it's enough to hold Deegan off.
05:15Yeah, Hayden's got some lines.
05:17Now, we heard RJ say earlier that he was kind of upset with the Hayden Deegan getting around.
05:22He wanted to get him.
05:23I believe right now, Hayden makes that pass with Dylan.
05:26I'm interested to see how the other riders race him.
05:29Do they try to really ride him in their hearts since he's a rookie?
05:32They want to beat him.
05:33And Hayden's doing a good job of just going past Dylan.
05:36But I'm sure Dylan will try to fight back if he can.
05:42Oh, good battle right here.
05:45Marsha said they changed the bike completely in one week.
05:48Definitely better, I can tell you that.
05:50But still not enough.
05:53Deegan runs him almost into the mechanics area.
05:55Be careful.
05:55That's Bam Bam and Danger Boy.
05:58I think this is a battle people wanted to see.
05:59Yeah.
06:00Aggressive riders.
06:01I wanted to see as well.
06:02Nice save by Hayden.
06:03Front-end rebounder out there.
06:05A little Willie save.
06:06But yeah, for him, I don't even think Justin realized Hayden was even that close.
06:10Because he went outside.
06:11We know Justin doesn't let anybody go around him.
06:13So Deegan looks a little bit more aggressive with his moto.
06:16They shall meet again.
06:17Don't worry.
06:18Deegan now trying to make tracks toward Webb.
06:22That'd be fourth.
06:26Yeah, Chase Sexton right in front of him.
06:29But not too far.
06:35Good line by Hayden right there.
06:36Not that fast, but it's pretty consistent and be smoother.
06:40They end up being faster or twice in their disgrace for sure.
06:43So these are the teammates of the Monster Yamaha Star Racing Machines.
06:48Oh, Hunter keeping in check.
06:53A little different line by Chad right there.
06:57Chase has ran off the track twice on his lap.
07:00Oh, really?
07:01Yeah.
07:02The shot going down the hill.
07:03He was off the racetrack.
07:04And then he was just off the track again right here.
07:06They're settling in.
07:07They can see the track.
07:08They know what lines are there.
07:10And then this is the outside of the car.
07:11He's just been turning with whoops.
07:14Yeah.
07:14Yeah, it was smooth at the beginning of the day.
07:16That's how much rougher this track has gotten.
07:18Jet has turned it up.
07:19157.0.
07:20It's actually two tenths quicker than Hunter the last time around.
07:24His two best laps have been his last two laps.
07:28See if the 96 can respond to that.
07:32Now.
07:34Figure out how this goes.
07:35Katie.
07:36Looking at the number 96, it reminds me of a conversation that I had with him.
07:40And he said his success over the course of his career, he feels it's a bit of a snowball effect.
07:45He said, knock on wood, I haven't had those major injuries.
07:47I've had momentum.
07:49I've kept training all the way since 2021.
07:52He said he's been plugging away and slowly building.
07:55So as we've talked about Hunter Lawrence here this last year or so, it's really been a building process for
08:01him.
08:02And he's recognized it, especially since he kind of looked back at 2020 when he was going to walk away.
08:07He thought in the sport he was going to walk away.
08:08So it's all been a building process since then.
08:12All right, guys, I'm watching this battle.
08:15And James, I'm curious on your opinion on this.
08:16I could see a scenario where Jet lets Hunter by here.
08:19And I know that sounds crazy.
08:20Jet's multi-time champion, one of the best riders I've ever seen.
08:23But I just wonder if Hunter really starts to apply some pressure here, how willing is Jet to push?
08:29And how I got to that was on those early laps, like Jet looking behind him immediately.
08:34That's not a positive sign as far as him wanting to go chase Hunter down in that opening lap.
08:38So I just wonder how much he has left to give here in Moto2.
08:41No, I agree.
08:42I was going to say that.
08:43And I think what we're going to find out, Jet's going to find out as well, is the difference between
08:47Hunter Lawrence last year and this year.
08:49And what we witnessed during the Supercross, Hunter's been in this spot a bunch of times this year.
08:54When he needed to win, he just won.
08:55And kind of looked like he did with Hayd Deegan in that first race, like he closed that gap.
08:59And so I don't know if it's more of Jet letting him by or Jet might not be able to
09:03keep him behind him anyway.
09:04But we're going to find out.
09:06Good response by Jet here.
09:07But Hunter looks like he can do this pretty easy.
09:10And Tom would tell how quickly he closes up as Jet takes a look back.
09:14Mm-hmm.
09:15And again, coming back from injury, Navy isn't quite there on the roughest part of the day.
09:21to hold his brother off all the way to the end.
09:23You're saying it might not even be a choice.
09:25He might just not be able to, whether he wants to or not.
09:28Because Hunter's riding well, no doubt.
09:30I mean, Jet's riding fine.
09:31They got 10 seconds over Chase Sexton and Hayd Deegan behind him.
09:34So it's not like Jet's slow.
09:35But I think the pace of Hunter Lawrence and just the difference to me, it looks easy.
09:40And these next couple laps is going to tell the tale.
09:42I believe if Hunter gets on him, puts that pressure, Jet probably will let him by.
09:47and then Hunter can rot off in the sunset at least and try to.
09:50Deegan has made the move on Webb.
09:51He's fourth.
09:53About two seconds off of Sexton for third.
09:55So that will be something to watch as well.
09:59But right now, it's all about the Brothers Lawrence looking to regain control
10:04like they were last year.
10:06One, two in the series.
10:07There's Deegan in the bottom box trying to get Sexton.
10:11Yeah, Hayd's starting to close that gap.
10:12He's got around Cooper Webb.
10:14And as I said earlier, JT.
10:18Yeah, I just had an opportunity to speak to Johnny O'Marrity.
10:20And I kind of ran my hypothesis by him of, hey, do you think Jet might let him by?
10:24And Johnny's like, no way.
10:25Nope.
10:26Not going to let him do it.
10:28He's like, you know, this is the dynamic every day for them practicing.
10:32They go back and forth.
10:33And they one-up each other all the time.
10:35And they're so competitive.
10:36But that's what drives them.
10:38And he's like, I just don't see it unless Jet simply has to.
10:41There's just no way he's willingly going to.
10:44Yeah, kind of back to my point.
10:46I don't think he wants to.
10:47He might not be able to hold him back.
10:49But just like that first moto, if Jet sits here and he starts getting comfortable, you're starting to notice those
10:54little gaps.
10:55He'll start picking away around the racetrack.
10:57And the thing with riders like Jet Lawrence, they're so talented.
11:00Even if there is a problem, he'll figure out how to ride around it.
11:04The thing with Hunter Lawrence, he can't let him figure that problem out.
11:07So it'll be a big move for him.
11:09And as much as Jet doesn't want Hunter to beat him, I feel like Hunter is in that same spot
11:13as well.
11:14You don't want your younger brother coming back from injury and basically doing what he's been doing the last two
11:19years to you as well.
11:20Not only for today, but for this championship as well.
11:23It's true.
11:24We're so deep into the everyone seeing where they are thing of the first round or two that you could
11:30suddenly see this championship zeroing in very quickly on these two.
11:35And it would be absolutely massive if Jet could hold his brother off, even while working his way back from
11:41injury.
11:41So there's some urgency for the 96 to not let that happen.
11:45And you can see it right now.
11:48Well, Deegan just went by sixth and easy for third.
11:52Thought we're going to have a battle materializing there.
11:55So Deegan's third.
11:56And here comes Hunter.
11:59Yeah, Hunter's on him right now.
12:01And he knows that.
12:02And Jen takes a look back, going to see the 96 ain't there because he's a little bit farther on
12:06the inside.
12:06Hunter knows that far.
12:08So I believe the move is coming.
12:22And I remember their battles back in the 250 days when they were the up-and-comers in the sport.
12:27Hunter said it so well.
12:29It's like the velociraptors in Jurassic Park.
12:31I learned, he learns, I learned, he learns.
12:34Every lap they learn from each other and just keep getting better and better.
12:37Yeah, and that's what makes it difficult.
12:39And people wonder why these two have been so dominant the last couple of years because they run together as
12:46Hunter runs off the racetrack.
12:48Now, we noticed that Haydeegan was able to get around Chase Sexton.
12:52Chase is going to overjump this, mix the inside, and, yeah, basically kind of just lets him go.
12:57As I said earlier, Chase is in a hard spot because he wants to go after the two in front
13:01of him.
13:01And he doesn't have that pace.
13:03It's a hard race for Chase to be in.
13:05Haydeegan was coming.
13:06Chase had to let him by.
13:12Now, to me, it seems like Jet is a little bit quicker than Hunter on the longer part of the
13:17race.
13:17So the longer sections, he's a little bit quicker than him.
13:20Anywhere where there's a short speed or where the G-forces really come down, like some of these braking bumps,
13:25I noticed that Hunter is able to close in.
13:27But after the finish line, those smooth corners, the longer sections where Jet can have his time and jump over
13:33the bumps,
13:34like he's pretty good.
13:35And I think that comes down to the ankle, his braking power, and just how he feels on a motorcycle.
13:40So with cat and mouse between these two guys.
13:46Another lap clicks off.
13:48Almost halfway home.
13:53That's Marchbanks in green there.
13:55His monster Kawasaki battling with Ferrandez.
13:59And Webb's in that fight, too.
14:02That's passed by Garrett.
14:04Yeah.
14:04Yeah, really.
14:05That's a needle right there.
14:08Well, what will be interesting here is Marchbanks is actually going quicker than his teammate Sexton.
14:15And what happens if he starts to close on his teammate?
14:18That's the next rider up the road.
14:21It is fifth from Archbanks, fourth for Sexton.
14:28Jet's stretching that gap out.
14:29Yeah.
14:35Almost halfway, so really going to tell you where Hunter was.
14:38We saw Hayden Deegan, him battling Hayden.
14:40He did the same thing.
14:42It looked like he dropped back, but Hunter had that pace.
14:44So he's able to close back on Jet.
14:47That tells you enough right there that he's got the pace and he's going to try to get in.
14:51But it's going to be a long ways to go.
14:52Only halfway there.
14:53Katie?
14:53Yeah, just something that I observed here.
14:56Brent Duffy, Hayden Deegan's mechanic over there, had his pit board read 8 plus 2 Jet.
15:02And I thought it was really interesting because a lot of times they don't designate what the rider is or
15:06who the rider is in front of him.
15:08And it is specifically Jet on that pit board.
15:10So obviously the arrow is pointing directly ahead at Mr. Lawrence.
15:15Hayden hasn't been shy, but that's his goal, to beat Jet Lawrence.
15:19But that's a long way to go today.
15:21Yeah, the mechanics, they know they're riders.
15:23They know they're riders.
15:25He knows what motivates you.
15:26Okay.
15:29And then just lap ties between the Lawrence brothers.
15:34Jet is pouring it on.
15:36Yes, he is.
15:37Yeah, a little after halfway.
15:38And now you can start to see him.
15:41Like, Hunter, he's building that gap.
15:42And really what it's coming down to, he's just getting really comfortable.
15:46That was a hard part for Hunter.
15:48If he wanted to get him, you need to keep that pressure on him.
15:51And Jet's starting to squeeze weight now.
15:55Almost to three seconds now.
15:58Going to give you the Rocky Mountain team check-in.
16:01We're going to shout out the Liquibali Beta team today.
16:03You got Benny Bloss there in 13th.
16:05Mitchell Oldenburg in 30th.
16:06Now, Oldenburg has not raced Pro Motocross since 2019.
16:11That's their Moto 1 finishes.
16:14Find him out on the track right now.
16:16Oldenburg a lot better here.
16:17He is in 21st.
16:19And Bloss, who I believe had troubles early, is 33rd.
16:23So, that's their second Moto.
16:25But good to see Beta jumping into Pro Motocross for the first time.
16:29We had a couple of races with Bloss last year, but they're full in it this year.
16:35And that's one of the new manufacturers jumping into this game, along with Ducati and Triumph.
16:39A lot of excitement over new brands jumping into SMX.
16:43And that's one of the oldest Honda has it under control right now.
16:47Now, halfway through this Moto, a reminder to stock up Monster Energy at Grocery Outlet.
16:53And just like that, Chet Lawrence, three and a half seconds is the gap.
16:58Well, the problem is he just ran at 155.3, which is two seconds faster than Hunter Lawrence, which jets
17:05the fastest lap of the race, JT.
17:08Well, this is exactly the same thing he did at the first Moto.
17:11As soon as it kind of looked like he was settling in, I wasn't really sure how this was going
17:15to play out.
17:15He turns in some of his best laps of the race.
17:18And I don't know if this is premeditated.
17:21I don't know if this is on purpose where he said, okay, halfway, now I make my break, now I
17:25build my gap, and then I manage it to the end.
17:26It would be a great question to ask him on the podium if this was intentional or, like James, you
17:31were saying, he just kind of finds his groove mid-race.
17:34Yeah, I mean, I think both of those are true.
17:36It's intentional, but he also knows who's riding behind him.
17:38You let his brother stay there, he's in his comfort spot.
17:42Now, again, Hunter Lawrence, he might not have the pace of his brother.
17:45It's important for him to just stay close to him because from Jett Lawrence, maybe Hunter feels like, hey, look,
17:51he put in that burst of speed.
17:53Like, he won't go any faster.
17:54And if I can stay there and keep him racing behind me, maybe I can close that gap.
17:58But right now, this kid looks good.
18:02He looks like Jett Lawrence, but he looks like an incredible amount of progress in one week's time.
18:10And really, last week, way below his normal pace in the first qualifying session, closer to it in the second
18:17qualifying session.
18:18Better in the motos, but only third in the end.
18:20And then today, it ends like this.
18:23He'll have the 1-1 and the fastest qualifying time.
18:27It's kind of scarier for everyone else.
18:29Yeah, it is.
18:31And when you look at just what he's doing, and like I said, that little bit of gap makes a
18:35huge difference.
18:36Now, because Hunter's not close to him, he's able to slow down and he's able to hop over bumps just
18:40like he is.
18:41So if you can have somebody, if Hunter was close to him, Jett would have to charge down in those
18:46sections,
18:46which means he won't be able to hop over that stuff because Hunter's closing.
18:49And it just changes the way he rides a motorcycle.
18:52If you let him out like this, he's going to be in his comfort zone, and he is hard to
18:55beat that way because of how good he is.
18:59Yes, he's managed gaps of this distance.
19:03Marvelously, the last couple of years.
19:05Not a guy who usually tries to win the moto by 30 seconds.
19:08He gets it around that 2-3 second mark and keeps it there.
19:16Yeah, you see that?
19:17You hear him being very light on the bike, taking his time.
19:21Now, if Hunter was closer, he would have to charge into that section, and that makes it a lot harder
19:27on his foot and all that.
19:28So Hunter's keeping that gap there.
19:31I think he's closed a little bit this next lap, but on this last lap.
19:38Look, I think we know the brothers work together so well.
19:41They're not rivals on the racetrack as far as anything besides just made the best man win.
19:46But are we already at a point where Hunter Lawrence, is this critical for him to try to shut Jett
19:51down, confidence-wise?
19:53I mean, I'm being selfish just thinking of my brother right here.
19:57I just feel like with Hunter Lawrence, like he knows how great his brother is, but he also knows how
20:01good he is.
20:01And Jett's on a different level today.
20:04But coming off an injury, what we saw last weekend from Hunter Lawrence and saw from Jett, I would just
20:10have a hard time, even though I know how good my brother is, to allow him to beat me this
20:14moto.
20:14Just because it almost feels like everything that I did all year long, it was because he wasn't there.
20:19And I know that's not true.
20:21Hunter is better.
20:22But at the same time, you're only as good as your last race.
20:25And you go to this.
20:26When they race, Jett's been just a tad better.
20:29So I would just go out for that standpoint.
20:31But at the end of the day, Hunter Lawrence is going to leave here with the points lead, exactly where
20:35he needs to be.
20:35So not all is lost, but I'm selfish.
20:39I want to win.
20:40Yeah, again, I think if there's any other rider, you'd say, oh, man, that's going to be tough.
20:44Jed already back in victory lane.
20:45Maybe we don't think of that as much between the brothers.
20:48See how it turns out.
20:50This is what I wanted to watch.
20:53Could March Banks run down his teammate Sexton?
20:55And he is closing.
20:57Sexton, a two-minute lap time.
20:59March Banks, a 1.58.
21:02Yeah, this is a little bit of where pride comes on the line.
21:05You know, with Chase Sexton, if anything, kind of motivate us when your teammate comes up.
21:09Because you can't be like, oh, man, the bike's not good when you get beat by your own teammate at
21:13this point.
21:13But I know it's hard for Chase because he wants to be winning.
21:16He doesn't care about four plays.
21:18He wants to be up front.
21:18And when you can't do that, it's just hard to be that same rider where Garrett wants to be in
21:23that top five because he's fighting for a lot.
21:26Really interesting dynamic that you're going to see between these two.
21:29So Garrett, the move of the season last year.
21:33He took a one-year 250 deal with Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki, knowing they probably were not going to continue
21:40to have room for him in 2026.
21:42But he rode so well that they found room for him.
21:46And then they had an opening on the 450 team when Jorge Prado chose to leave.
21:51And they bumped him up to the 450 class.
21:53450 factory rides, not easy to get.
21:55He got it.
21:56So the risk paid off.
21:57He gaveled on himself.
21:59And he's riding really well right now.
22:06Yeah, Chase is right in front of him.
22:10That's the guy that's back into the 159s.
22:12And then March Banks went from 158 to 159 himself.
22:17Yeah, that's a little bit of teammate action.
22:19Jorge Prado, we haven't talked about him.
22:23Obviously, he didn't get a great start.
22:24I'm wondering, did he go down or something?
22:27But hopefully for his sake, I know he's got a bad start.
22:31And I know how difficult this racetrack is.
22:32But you don't want this finish.
22:34You don't want it to be only start-dependent.
22:37Because what's going to happen is the guys like Jet Lawrence, hey, Deegan,
22:40they're not going to take you to the Sears threat.
22:42Because they feel like if you're not out front, they know how to beat you.
22:45So, Jorge, we're not really sure what happened in those opening laps.
22:48But tough first moto.
22:51And then 15th, man, this is a huge shock.
22:53Not only a championship, but just the momentum.
22:56Yeah, 15th.
22:57And that would leave him all the way back to 7th of the championship points
23:01after being 2nd last week and 2nd in points.
23:04But he's got some work to do.
23:06He's got Jordan Smith in 14th.
23:09Smith and his wife welcomed their second baby into the world on Wednesday.
23:14Ryan with a jammed wrist.
23:15Heard it a little bit last week.
23:17He's working hard on that number 20 to triumph.
23:19But here comes Prado.
23:21Got this piece of Freeze right in front of him.
23:26All right, I've talked about his teammate.
23:27Yeah.
23:28Oh, sorry.
23:29That's Freeze's teammate, Tondal, 417.
23:32They got almost the same exact number.
23:34The same exact bike.
23:36Cornelius Tondal.
23:37Can he hold on?
23:39Because here comes Prado.
23:41I thought Prado had to pass me.
23:42Good job, Jordan Smith.
23:44Oh, man.
23:45Diaper prices didn't win up.
23:47We're just at another one.
23:48He's going to fight for these.
23:52Prado all over this track looking for running room.
23:56Oh, but the points.
23:57Just a terrible points day for Prado.
23:59It's his chance to try to claw a few back.
24:04Yeah, I know this seems small, but I think these passes are really important for Jorge, not for the championship
24:11-wise.
24:12I mean, obviously, it's important for that.
24:13But really just that narrative a little bit.
24:15You don't want to just be stuck back here.
24:17We don't want to end this race and know that he didn't go down.
24:20He just finished behind these guys.
24:21They're riding really good.
24:22But when you look at Jorge finishing second last weekend, I think just passing these guys and continue to move
24:28forward like he just does.
24:29Jordan right there is a big thing for him mentally to keep pushing forward even if he ends up 12th.
24:36So that's one pass on Smith.
24:44And every position here is one championship point.
24:47Now, he's going to be facing a huge hole in the series.
24:50He didn't score any in the first photo.
24:54He's trying to limit the damage here.
25:01Tondal raced a couple of these last year.
25:03Even tried Supercross late in the year this year.
25:07Rider out of Norway.
25:10Riding pretty well right now.
25:13I feel like he's a veteran.
25:14I feel like he's been around, traveled the world for a while.
25:16He's seen as 23 years old.
25:18And here comes Prado.
25:21The Spaniard.
25:23Yeah, this is key.
25:24Show that he can do it with the bad start.
25:26Yeah.
25:27And again, to Jorge's credit, this track is difficult to pass on.
25:31Especially when you get in these, when the battles.
25:34But he's good enough and has the pace.
25:37He should go and work his way around them.
25:38Even though he's riding really good.
25:40Cornelius, that is.
25:41Jorge makes the pass after that mistake.
25:43So keep pushing forward.
25:45He's got about four seconds to kill Harrop.
25:49Try to have a...
25:51Keep pushing.
25:53Yep.
25:53Harrop, the Danish rider.
25:55On the 5'11.
25:56Triumph would be 12th.
25:58Can Prado dig out a top 10?
26:01Right now it's Lawrence, Lawrence, Deegan.
26:04Sexton has stabilized that gap.
26:06With March Banks, they're both running 158s.
26:10Miranda's sixth.
26:12Hampshire, Craig Webb, Barsha, Guillaume.
26:15Harrop.
26:16And then Prado back to Webb on the 2 with Hampshire on the 24th.
26:24Yeah, we're just checking in on lap time.
26:26It looked like we lost air.
26:27So obviously that shoulder is a little bit worse.
26:29Seven laps down.
26:30He must have pulled off earlier.
26:31We actually...
26:32That's right.
26:33That was in a box.
26:34We saw that real quick.
26:35Him calling it a day.
26:36It has been back on a season for the Cowboy there.
26:39The seven of Plessinger.
26:42Injuries in Supercross and then more trouble today.
26:46As for Hampshire, he's working on a new deal with this team, Rockstar Esparta.
26:50But then they have announced they will not return to racing in 2027.
26:54So he asked him about trying to work on something else.
27:00It sucks.
27:01It really does.
27:01Because this was a spot that I wanted to retire at.
27:05I really love it because I would get to work with week in and week out.
27:10But there's always a boss that you have to answer to.
27:13And that's what it came down to.
27:15So, yeah, it's been a new year.
27:18There's been a lot of phone calls.
27:20I've represented myself.
27:21So, you know, I was an agent and a rider here the last couple months and learned a lot.
27:27The thing that I've learned the most, though, is growth comes from being uncomfortable.
27:33And that's where I'm at right now.
27:34You know, I had so much comfort here at this team.
27:36And I feel like this next step in growth is where I'm at.
27:41And I'll land on a good team connection.
27:46Yeah, that was a bummer for all of them.
27:48Certainly, your brother Malcolm, who had a two-year deal.
27:50He's also now going to be on the market.
27:52A couple of the 250 riders on that team we hear will most likely be absorbed into an expanded KTM
27:58250 effort.
27:59And then a lot of rumors, Husqvarna said they will still provide parts to a team if a team is
28:05willing to lease them.
28:06So, a couple of teams scrambling to maybe take over wouldn't be the full factory Husqvarna effort next year.
28:13But to get some good support next year, we'll see how that turns out.
28:17And we'll see where it turns out for the 24 because he's shown in the 450 he could be a
28:21player.
28:23Yeah, yeah, tough position to be in.
28:25And we all understand business.
28:28Things got to happen.
28:29But I know for sure it would be tough because these guys are risking their lives out here.
28:34And, you know, RJ, he's going to be RJ no matter what.
28:38So, we'll land on this meet along with my brother as well.
28:41But I'm sure it's tough for him, Nathan, Nathan, Ramsey, all these guys.
28:46Last thing they want, but they'll be back.
28:48Yeah, Nathan, the team manager over there, great racer in his own right.
28:56The hope, I think, is that a lot of the staff might get absorbed into that larger KTM 250 team.
29:01They're only running one 250 rider right now.
29:04And they'll probably expand to four riders next year.
29:07And that might give the likes of Benick and Ryder DeFrancisco a place.
29:12Not sure what's going to happen for Cochran or your brother Malcolm or for RJ.
29:16RJ's going to keep hustling because Cooper Webb is still fighting behind him.
29:20Back to the leader.
29:21Look, Jed Lawrence has done so many mind-blowing things the last couple of years.
29:27But to come from where he was last week to winning, that's going to rank right up there.
29:31JT, what do you got?
29:32You know, the White House has been releasing these alien files.
29:35I don't know if you've been paying attention to that.
29:37But I found Jed Lawrence's name there.
29:39He's back to being the alien.
29:40I would say James Stewart there, too.
29:42So if you're there at home, go on that website.
29:45Check these guys out.
29:46Because the point is, what we're seeing here, this isn't normal behavior.
29:50This is not what you would expect.
29:52And, James, I know.
29:53I'm qualifying.
29:54You came back from a torn ACL win.
29:5624-0.
29:57I know.
29:58But to be this good this fast, I wasn't even sure if he was going to win in the month
30:03of June.
30:03And here we are at the second round, and he's on the cusp of going 1-1.
30:06It's truly a remarkable turnaround if he can clear Vince Friese.
30:10Yeah.
30:11No, I'm with you, JT.
30:13I mean, the way this race is, and, you know, game recognized game.
30:17And this kid has a lot of games.
30:18I mean, his brother does as well.
30:19But I'm with you.
30:21I'm just impressed.
30:22And I was excited about these two battling this moto because of those types of things.
30:26And it just shows me the heart of this kid.
30:29And Hunter Lawrence is still there.
30:31He's still fighting.
30:32But this kid is good.
30:35This kid is good.
30:36And just the recovery from last weekend to this weekend and just really finding his flow.
30:42But, Jason, I think it came back down to is that one lap of practice.
30:46And I believe that is what makes Jett Lawrence and why he's able to do what he's doing today
30:50is from one lap, a minute and 54 seconds is what kind of changed the way this guy is.
30:57And having that belief because, like I said earlier, as a rider athlete, you want to at least be able
31:03to come back from an injury
31:04and do the same thing that made you who you are.
31:06And Jett Lawrence riding like this, he was able to find that speed.
31:10And the way he looked doing it allows him, when Hunter Lawrence is there, to be able to drop down
31:14two seconds
31:15and be like, I'll just go fast.
31:16Even though I'm uncomfortable, but I think that was found in practice today.
31:20And that's why he's the champion, won a whole lot of races in the square.
31:25I'll be back from a broken talus.
31:27That's a bone right at the ankle and foot.
31:29And notoriously difficult to heal.
31:32A bad blood flow.
31:35And a lot of people said it's 12 months maybe before you could recover.
31:38Maybe 100% is never possible, but to be able to be competitive, he did it in six.
31:44And even had a little hiccup there and had to get one of the screws changed out.
31:49But despite that, showed up around one.
31:52Wasn't quite at his normal pace, but still good enough to get third.
31:55And right back on top in one week's time.
32:00And just to add on that, I believe what makes it more impressive and why I'm so impressed with Jett,
32:05it's not that he came back from this injury.
32:08I mean, a lot of these guys come back from gnarly injuries.
32:10We have broken nests.
32:11I mean, look, Julian Vermeer and that junior class, they're all talented.
32:14They can do it.
32:15But when you're on this level, you show up at a race that you haven't raced all year long.
32:19He's been out for over almost a year.
32:21When you look at how long he's been off the motorcycle, at least a long time.
32:24Show up at the first race, you get no grace period.
32:27So we showed up last weekend after the race and how things look.
32:31We were asking the question, you know, people were, will he ever be the same?
32:34Right.
32:35Is he human?
32:35Is this it?
32:37And for him to respond, just I'm impressed mentally.
32:40Because you don't understand how difficult that is to be in the position where he is.
32:45It's like being sick or hurt at work and expected to come in and do your best performance.
32:50Nobody gives you any kind of leeway, and this guy's doing that.
32:53And that's what makes this ride so impressive.
32:57Checking in here with Sexton, who did not want to get caught by his teammate Marchbank,
33:01so he started digging, and he's closing in a little bit on Deegan.
33:06This will be for third of the moto.
33:07Deegan's going to be third overall today either way.
33:12Yeah, you kind of saw that one come in.
33:14I mean, Chase, like I said earlier, it's not that he's not trying,
33:17but he wants to be up there with those two leaders.
33:20Garrett Marchbank is the reason why he continues to fight,
33:23and I think he's closing in on Hayden Deegan just by default because of how Garrett's riding.
33:28But nonetheless, great ride by the Kawasaki.
33:30Hopefully they can build off that because they're going to have to
33:33if they want to compete with these two riders, the HRC Honda.
33:36And it's the last lap, and it's over now.
33:38Big lead for Jet, and it's going to be a reset.
33:42One win for Hunter, one win for Jet heading into round three.
33:46Live coverage of that on NBC next weekend, and to just spice it up a little more,
33:50you've got the two, you've got the brothers here.
33:52You've got the twins coming over from Belgium, the Coonan brothers.
33:56Lucas will be racing the 450 class.
33:59He's the points leader at MXGP, 450 class overseas,
34:02and his brother Sasha will be racing the 250 class as the points leader
34:09at MXGP in the 250 class there,
34:11so that will be very interesting to throw them in the mix next weekend, Thunder Valley.
34:18But Jet Lawrence is going to be the headline today.
34:22Just like old times.
34:24Yep, just like old times.
34:24Very impressive.
34:26When I heard that the Coonans were coming over here,
34:28I was actually kind of surprised because this guy is leading the MXGP World Championship,
34:33and it just shows you, like, how they want to come here and race.
34:37And both series are great, but for him to be taking that chance,
34:40to come to a different country, to race over here,
34:43leading a championship that I know he wants to back up,
34:46just shows you how they want to go after Jet Lawrence.
34:48And I think I understand that the opportunities now just makes next week even more exciting,
34:54and it'll be a different track, a different challenge for Jet Lawrence.
34:57Hunter Lawrence is great.
34:59But right now it's number one.
35:01Yep, number one is number one.
35:04What a difference a week makes.
35:05Wrote a little bit this week.
35:07Not as much as normal, not as much as Hunter.
35:10Didn't ride Presté.
35:11Like you said, there were a lot of signs that,
35:13Oh, maybe this is not going very well for the number one
35:16until that lap time in qualifying.
35:19And now carrying it to the Motos.
35:21He wins Moto 1.
35:22He pulls away in Moto 2.
35:24Gives the fist pump toward his mechanic.
35:27It was a long road back, but we didn't see much of that.
35:29We only saw one subpar race by his standards.
35:32And now Jet Lawrence is back on top in Pro Motocross.
35:38All right, champ.
35:40The ride by Hunter Lawrence.
35:42As you know, he's back.
35:45Yep, he's going to be dealing with Jet all summer long.
35:47Here's Hayden Deegan.
35:48It's going to be his first 450 podium.
35:53But about 20 seconds back of the leader in that one.
36:23He's only been in this class.
36:26A little over three seasons.
36:28And he is rapidly moving up the overall all-time win chart.
36:33need to log my hoje. Yeah.
36:33I'm
36:33going to get those two notes. I'm
36:33going to Buchlan Smith. Yeah.
