05:03I'd be curious to know if when haymaker pulled back to the inside did he start that crash on the

05:09What a wild turn of events for this championship though. We talked about
05:12We felt like this title might go this way
05:15There's gonna be a lot of 30-point days that might get you on the podium and yet two races
05:19in we might have another one on our hands

05:29If it ended this way, it would actually be kitchen with the overall win over davies and romano
05:36Romano battling right now helping his cause getting around deno. Yeah, I don't know. Dika made a
05:42Or a mistake or he's definitely losing some time this last lap, but you know what that shows you is
05:46just how
05:48Then the gaps are in this sport. I mean seth probably had one of the best rods ever
05:52He had about an hour ago and it comes out goes down in the first corner and we're talking like
05:56podium
05:57What are you talking about? Just trying to get back up so quickly things can happen out front

06:08You got kitchen romano davies again. That will be the top three at the moment
06:12But how do you track all those guys coming from the back and look at kitchen on a rail?

06:21He's had that speed good rod body come to hold him off
06:24But I feel like this pass is it's going to happen anyway. He's just applying that pressure before he puts

06:38That's been looking great all day and I love his body
06:41He's been able to move his body around and keep that rear tire on the ground so it's pushing him

06:47I believe that's where he's making up a lot of his time
06:49Especially on this racetrack as he's trying to close in on his teammate in second
06:55Kitchen has not won and overall since the end of 2024
06:59Bugs Creek got a couple of wins in that season
07:02And a big struggle last year a lot of it came down to starts kawasaki had a new engine last
07:06year
07:07And although they said it was fast on the track
07:09It wasn't as good out of the hole as the old engine
07:11They did a lot of work in the offseason to make it better for starts
07:16And they got that thing flying right now
07:18Here's ham anchor in the bottom box. He has moved into point scoring position now into 19th
07:24Yeah, you can see joe shimota as he gets into it with another rider goes off the racetrack now
07:29You know seth has been a lot faster than most of these guys
07:32So it's hard in these beginning parts. He's got to let this flow out, you know thin out
07:36And that's hard as a rider like seth you want to make a passing so it's control chaos
07:41But he's got to be careful because he does have a 16 point lead at the moment
07:45Well coming into this race but that gap is a lot different now
07:52But the other problem and kitchen experienced it last week back there
07:57You never know look at this pack that have acres rolling up on
08:00As kitchen looks to make the move on his buddy romano and dogs for second
08:05Yeah, a great move by levi at that moment
08:08Getting up in the second let's see if you can close that gap on cole davies katie
08:12Yeah, levi kitchen is one of the guys that can get it done of course talking to the team
08:16They've mentioned that his fitness is great and his mindset is here to win
08:20It really is about the long game for levi kitchen
08:23Meanwhile his pass on nick romano and talking with mitch payton on the other hand for for nick
08:29He really needs to work on his fitness
08:31So he's been having those great starts that we've seen in the last four motos this season
08:35But he needs to stay out there. He needs to give it his all
08:38They really need to focus on his fitness
08:42Oh i'm going to get into race shape he just keeps piling up more motos at the front
08:48Romano has been there pretty much every start
08:51Yeah, it's uh it's hard to work on i mean this you got a race to figure it out
08:56But i would say he's probably a lot better shaped than sometimes he feels after these photos because if we
09:00talked about in the first moto
09:01The battles never stop you know so look behind him he's got 10 guys coming and any kind of breaks.
09:08He's got to have them there
09:09Now what's interesting about hamacre's progress
09:12I think he's actually closing on shimoda so you actually have a battle of two potential title threats
09:20But all the way back at around 15th place that's shimoda there hamacre is 16th and i think seth is
09:26catching him
09:27Yeah, joe's been stuck behind all these guys he went into a guy to the same place the last lap
09:33they hit one guy went off the racetrack
09:34So as you can see he's got three riders four riders in front of him
09:37How do you pick a line and that's holding up joe so as he tries to make that pass where
09:41it gets difficult is when steph gets close
09:43He's gonna have to leave that door open it might get passed back
09:47Well i love about this drone cam you hear the riders say all the time oh man you get a
09:50bad start it is
09:51Pure chaos back there you saw four riders crisscrossing lines in front of shimoda no such trouble for the young
09:59new zealander out front cole davies
10:01a 10 second lead
10:05Yeah we saw cole do this in supercross very economical the way he rides you see him standing up
10:11Usually when you put him in front supercross it was gonna be hard to catch him but levi's starting to
10:16close that gap
10:17But cole still has a great pace and if he can hold on we'll see how to enter the race
10:21plays out for him
10:23Well speaking of that look kitchen has the overall already he'd be sitting on a 2-2 that would easily
10:27beat davies
10:28Who has an 11th in moto one but they pay points for moto
10:32And confidence wise you don't want davies to get on a roll here so is kitchen going to go for
10:37it here
10:38Or is it too big yeah i think the next two laps are really going to kind of tell that
10:41story i mean
10:42If i'm levi i'm sure he kind of knows maybe cole maybe struggles towards the end of the race because
10:46cole was one of your
10:47Favors even though he wasn't the favorite he is a guy that if he wins this race and wins the
10:52championship
10:52It wouldn't be expected as he almost goes over the handlebars right there
10:55So if i'm levi long story short i'm gonna let it play out these next couple laps
10:59I got the overall not necessarily worried about cole at the moment but if i can i'll try to win

11:06All right so that is a critical juncture back to hamacre got the red number plates
11:12Every pass by the way when you're in the top 20 is one more championship point shimoda has finally made
11:18some progress
11:20Making some passes here he's gotten around the 74 of gauge linville on that 5 11 triumph but here comes
11:25hamacre looking to do the same
11:27Yeah joe was able to get around and now you got the rookie behind him but at the moment seth
11:33has a one-point lead
11:34So every point now he's increasing that points lead so that's where i was going back to seth
11:39Look i know you want to get up there but you also have a pretty big points lead as he's
11:44swapping around
11:44Try to keep this thing going but that's gonna be hard for you jt
11:48It is but you know when you look back on the championship and we always do this and you wonder
11:52Where were the points lost or won that determines this championship and yes winning races is important make no mistake
11:57But days like this motos like this where seth is in 28th on the first lap and whether he gets
12:03to
12:0415th which he's around now or he can get up to like seven that is a huge difference in how
12:09this championship will look and feel
12:11When we get into july and august so these bad days that determine the course of the championship seth hamacre
12:16is in the midst of one in moto 2
12:19Yeah jt i'm not sure this is a low cortisol which is what seth hamacre was looking for in today
12:24But he also said that he has been so much more mentally flexible this season
12:29He knows that in his past as we have a yellow flag there at that corner and we try to
12:33control all these things
12:34But it doesn't always go the way we want he has been working so hard and so diligently on learning
12:39to adapt not only
12:40On the bike but him as a person through life circumstances
12:43Stu how important is that as a rider
12:46Uh it's very important and i think the toughest part is that you just saw we had an end zone
12:51different
12:51But i think he's never been go down right in front of him when you're in these situations all these
12:55guys are battling
12:55So that points gap can be erased for you but i think if i'm seth i know it's difficult in
13:02the moment
13:02But what i saw today and even now if he can just get back up today's still ultimate win because
13:08the guys
13:08Showed something and the way he won that first moto
13:11It's pretty good you can't you can't help first corner i mean things just happen to go down
13:16You just got to make the best of it and that's what he's trying to do and shimoda now that
13:20he's finally gotten around that
13:21What four or five rider pack ahead of him has begun to pull back away from hamacre who's still battling
13:27through
13:27Got held up when temperament went down so shimoda is 12th third in the first moto
13:34Can he dig out an overall podium today if you look in the lower left again
13:38That's the podium out at the moment kitchen davies romano
13:43Yeah joe's like man i've been battling this whole race and i'm not even inside the top ten you know
13:48That's just how deep this build and how close it is also think this track makes it a little difficult
13:53to make some passes
13:54But nonetheless joe's riding good he's just that first corner cost him
14:00And meanwhile chance hymus back there in 16th not what he wants
14:04Again he was probably in that pile as well i would imagine from moving that far back there
14:08It's julian bomare another solid ride for the ktm kid
14:14Denno's still holding strong in fourth
14:18But it looks like bomare is closed up

14:22Nice move by julian it wasn't too much fight by deacon but julian after this strong second moto
14:29You know he's got to feel pretty comfortable looking up knowing that maybe nick might fade back just a little

14:34Opportunity for him to finish third in his moto

14:41But closing oh it worked already got himself in podium position and after that pass he's now third that will

14:49So bomare looking for an overall podium

15:02And bomare like that's actually lot traffic up ahead now with all the riders that went down earlier

15:22And again when i talked to him this morning just trying to get used to everything as his first pro
15:27moto cross race expected to be better today
15:31And he has been for sure
15:34Yeah, kind of running the same thing nick was happening in the first race. It's always somebody coming so
15:42A little difficult but still a great rod
15:47This is a denno by the way his breakthrough anyone smx next supercross at daytona that really put him on
15:54the map
15:55As maybe the hot prospect of the amateur ranks
16:00Got that win there at the world center of racing
16:03And continue to do well as those smx next supercross races went on
16:08The things coming at you in a hurry here like you said with romano in that first moto no relief

16:14Yeah, and being in this spot guys have raced this thing even though the tracks a lot different they know
16:19this soul
16:20They've seen this kind of track conditions. Maybe decum hasn't been in this spot so he could have missed the

16:25Things could have transpired between how different that first moto as jt talked about earlier
16:30It's night and day difference on where the bumps are and how dry and how big they are so
16:35They shot a little bit on the motorcycle makes it even more
16:38different for a rookie
16:40As you see d francisco on the rockstar house barna we give a little update on his teammate cochran who
16:46as we said got tagged
16:48Run over in the first turn. He is out the alpine stars medic truck. He is awake and alert
16:53Not sure of his condition beyond that but tough one for casey

17:04Quietly putting together a great run here at his home track
17:09His dad and uncle dad talent uncle tyson legends in this area for motocross and he's carrying that tradition forward
17:18There you see him up ahead in fifth
17:31So we're trying to figure out podium math here at bomare versus romano
17:39And he's closing on romano right now that'd be podium moto and again championship points wise
17:45Overalls don't matter. It's all about individual moto finish. So he's digging

17:52Oh, here's what's on the line boomer could take second overall if he can make this pass
17:56Yeah, right now. He's he's tied with cole davies, but because cole is leading the better moto second moto
18:02Holds range in this and so that's why they're tied but one more pass jump up one more spot
18:11Well merits not had a moto or sorry an overall podium in pro motocross before battled for it here last

18:18So he's already in podium overall position, but what about second overall and what that means
18:24Like I said doesn't mean anything in points, but i'm sure the bonus money's better. I could be a

18:35Yeah, it's a pretty big jump. Yeah. Yeah, that's nice when you're a young guy like him. I mean, it's

18:42So well done in the comeback here for bomare

18:51Looks a lot better, um, you know obviously had some rods last year before he got injured, but
18:58Looks pretty consistent to me over the last three motos solid
19:02You got to think he's only going to get better after being off the bike for so long and starting
19:07now to believe he belongs up here
19:09Another young guy that has a lot of talent has won races before that will only get better and be
19:14a real threat for this championship as we continue
19:17Yeah, don't forget. It's not just pro motocross everyone. You got the smx playoffs coming up in september
19:22Bomare was so determined to really perform well there last year but had that crash at the opener of it
19:30So
19:32If you're a guy like bomare building back from injury, you could peak at the right time in september and
19:36really make a name for yourself
19:38It's close on romano. We've heard date thrasher also
19:44Well, I was down early he has been taken to a local hospital for observation
19:50Man, yeah, he's all right. Yeah, that's tough
19:53You know, but going back to what you're saying about the playoffs the only way julian really
19:57I mean he wants to win but only way he believes he can is by races like this
20:01He's got to be able to compete up there winning some of his races to really truly believe once you
20:05get in those playoff a winner
20:07Take all I could go out there and win that race because i've done that before it's a hard jump
20:11to be able to just get lucky
20:13That doesn't happen in this sport to win a championship by being lucky. They they have to put into work

21:54But you got to think that if julian keeps this up that pass is going to probably happen with all

22:26He's going to continue to fight and as these guys get tired different second moto
22:31Different racetrack these gaps are started really closing down if joe can make that pace, but you just got to

22:45gets romano that will push him into second overall
22:48But as we're monitoring hamacre's progress through he's tied in fourth
22:52So cool babies the winner of this photo if hamacre makes one more pass and he's closing on bumpford
22:57That would put babies on the outside looking in for this podium even with a moto win
23:02So all of these passes down the stretch are going to determine this podium
23:06Yes, there are the event points on the left side of your screen everyone
23:09Just like last week hardly anything in it a three-way tie second third and fourth that is just what
23:15we saw a week ago
23:17And then romano is one point further back and shimota is still in it
23:21If he can make a few passes and he's trying to do it right now on denno

23:30We would show up next week asking the same exact questions that we did this week
23:34He really didn't get no answer like sephs broke great that first moto levi has some speed julian road great
23:39Had these other guys joe was good with bad starts and you end up in the same spot
23:44So that's where we go back to the control of this 250 class is so wide open because of races
23:49like this and how close this class is
23:52Yeah, it was a reset there had hamacre nailed that start again
23:56It might be a different story, but it changed in a hurry and now they're all right back in it
24:04So here's romano digging deep
24:07Yeah, this guy was a top amateur prospect with that monster energy star racing yamaha operation
24:14Actually turned a pro a little early. I believe it was 2022
24:17It's kind of quiet, but actually effective right around the top 10 and most of the motos
24:22He could have gone back to the monster energy national at the red lens that year and maybe won and
24:26really made a name for himself
24:28As he's battling with bomare
24:31And bomare makes the move now the problem for romano was the next year was injured the next year was
24:35injured
24:36And it really couldn't build upon what he learned in that rookie year moved to the phoenix honda team last
24:41year injured again
24:42barely even raced and at one point thought maybe it was over
24:46He's picked up this replacement ride now. You seem to go back a little bit in these motos, but you
24:51know
24:52And he's in catch-up mode as far as all the fitness and all the stuff he has lost without
24:56racing much in the last couple of years
24:58He's shown he has the talent
25:01Bomare makes the move that'll move him to second overall the moment
25:05Hamaker is trying to make passes as well. That's the 71 of bumpford
25:10He might salvage a podium
25:12Yes, f was the fastest guy on the track and there's four seconds faster than bumper the last lap
25:18So you would think if he can stay clean. He should have this passed down
25:21Um happening and as a rotter, you know
25:24Like when you can tell when a guy's sitting up going down the hills your opportunity to pass is really
25:28just going down the hill
25:29Because the guy's not going to charge. Maybe he's feeling a little tired
25:32You can charge down or into sections that set makes that pass
25:35And I've really just come from a rotter starting to struggle starting to get that condition
25:39And that puts him on the podium and you can see that the guy in front of you. Oh, yeah
25:43It's a wounded duck situation right here. We can spell it out and yeah, you kind of know just the
25:48body language
25:48You know how these guys rod you can tell when the guy is starting to feel it
25:53Well, what this really shows his strength from Hamaker
25:56He finally revealed last year he'd had some physical issues that always held him back in motocross
26:02His colitis and he said really it affected him most in the
26:05Second moto so to see this kind of dig two weeks in a row
26:09Sure, he was able to sir save a little energy in the first motor today
26:13But still this guy's showing that that problem is solved. He is strong
26:17He is and we know how tough he's always been
26:20But what I like is that he didn't turn one mistake into two
26:23You know, sometimes we'll have that incident and then we'll go off and then we'll see step on the side
26:27of the track
26:28Just a crazy incident goes down to me. It's like yeah, he didn't get the start obviously
26:32But this is the same guy that we saw that first moto really believing in himself
26:37Championship rod involved in and he has more work to do three minutes and two laps left
26:42There's ditto if he makes one more pass he'd be in a tie for second overall
26:49Bowmare would win the tiebreaker
26:52The trouble is going to be going any further than that that would require getting shimoda which is the tall
26:57order
26:57Yeah, Joe is pretty far ahead and if you remember about five six laps ago
27:02Because these two was on the same racetrack the same real estate joe's picking up the pace, but
27:08So probably understands he's in that podium position right now mechanic probably tell him
27:13There is davies who's going to end up
27:16Really to illustrate how tough this class is going 11-1 for fourth
27:21overall
27:22Now I talked to bill hall the general manager of the 250 squad
27:26For monster yamaha star yesterday, and I said
27:29How are we supposed to look at this are we supposed to look at this as davies is a title
27:33contender or is he a guy
27:34That's out here to learn and he said probably both as hamaker makes the move on denno in the top
27:39box
27:40One of the things they learned last week is the details matter a little bit more
27:44On the motocross side the diet the way you manage the day a little more so than supercross
27:50And they're drilling down on that to help him
27:53Yeah, that's another way of saying my guy got tired on there we got to work on it but
27:58It kind of looked that way a little bit that second moto last week
28:02We're trying to button up all those things as he's learning doesn't have a lot of pro motocross races under
28:06his belt davies

28:23But really set him maker making some big moves up here. What are you seeing in him as a rider

28:28I mean honestly he fell down in the first turn
28:30So he's just got to pass as many guys as possible
28:33Because every guy you pass you know you get another point. So now it's like right now. It's I think
28:39Yeah, third overall this math is a little bit difficult we then moved to the front with levi. How do
28:44you see him coming together as a rider today?
28:47Um, I think both guys did really well, you know like levi's
28:51Had some bad starts and rode really well
28:54And then set obviously when the first one and then he went down so like we're just
28:58Keep going until the end
29:01Yeah, it's kind of weird what you said earlier which is this this team is coming together and really flourishing
29:07here this season
29:07More than we maybe have seen in years past

35:03technical tracks as you mentioned this is where he you know does a really good job and he's able to
35:08relax and come out here and make this work his race look easy and what's also impressive a lot of
35:13tracks that he has not raced on before because last year was his rookie pro season and he was hurt
35:21early in the year only got in the final two rounds and even that was just to score points for
