A constable posted with UP-112 in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya district has been suspended after an audio clip allegedly capturing him abusing and misbehaving with a young woman over the phone went viral on social media.

The action was taken after Superintendent of Police Abhishek Bharti took cognisance of the viral audio and ordered a departmental inquiry into the matter.

According to the allegations, the incident occurred when Head Constable Rajendra Singh contacted a young woman late at night regarding a complaint. During the call, he allegedly informed her that her complaint had been registered and then insisted that she hand over the phone to her mother.

The woman reportedly told the constable that her mother was asleep and requested that the conversation be continued in the morning. However, the constable allegedly refused and continued pressuring her.

The viral audio purportedly captures the policeman using abusive language and making objectionable remarks during a prolonged argument with the woman. The conversation was reportedly recorded and later circulated widely on social media, triggering outrage and drawing the attention of senior police officials.

Following the circulation of the audio clip, Additional Superintendent of Police Alok Mishra conducted a preliminary inquiry into the matter. According to officials, the initial investigation confirmed that the voice heard in the recording appeared to be that of Head Constable Rajendra Singh, who was posted with UP-112.

Based on the preliminary findings, a report was submitted to the Superintendent of Police. Acting on the report, SP Abhishek Bharti ordered the immediate suspension of the accused constable and directed that a departmental inquiry be conducted.

ASP Alok Mishra confirmed that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated and that the matter is being investigated in detail.

Police officials stated that if the allegations are found to be true during the inquiry, strict departmental action will be taken against the accused constable.

The incident has sparked widespread criticism on social media and raised concerns over the conduct of police personnel while interacting with complainants, particularly women.
