00:00Hello there. Welcome to your latest Met Office forecast. It was a record breaking night last
00:05night. Temperatures remained above 20 Celsius across southern and eastern parts of the UK.
00:12High pressure dominating. Another hot day to come today and as we move through the week
00:16just a subtle change allows the winds to turn easterly along some eastern parts of the country
00:21come in the middle of the week and just introduces something a little fresher here but remaining
00:25hot across the west. So here's the satellite imagery from this morning. Plenty of blue skies
00:31across the whole of the UK. A weather front just giving some patchy light rain across the
00:35far north of Scotland but otherwise a crystal clear morning. As we move through into the afternoon
00:41plenty of sunny spells but the clouds are bubbling up as we go through the day. The risk of a
00:47few
00:47showers developing across England and Wales. A Met Office thunderstorm warning issued. We could see
00:5120 to 30 millimetres falling in a short period of time here. Some gusty winds, some hail but they
00:56will be isolated. Lots of hot sunshine for much of the UK. Sunny spells for Northern Ireland up into
01:03Western Scotland. The risk of a few showers across eastern Scotland. A little breezy across Orkney and
01:08Shetland. Temperatures here. The mid-teens locally 25 or 26 into southern Scotland. Similar across
01:15southern parts of Northern Ireland and then into the high 20s low 30s for England and Wales and again
01:21temperatures around 33 to 35 celsius. Possibly a little higher this afternoon across central parts
01:28of England. So a hot picture out there. Cooler around the coast. Temperatures compared to average.
01:33We've seen this map for a few days now. 10 to 15 celsius above average. Quite widely locally a little
01:40higher. Something nearer average across parts of Scotland. The far northeast of England along the coast
01:45there with that breeze and still slightly below average for northwest Scotland. No temperatures will rise
01:51here as we move through the week. UV levels generally high for everybody. Very high across some southern
01:57parts of England. Cooler around the coast but do remember sea temperatures, lakes and rivers at this
02:03time of the year are on the cold side. So if you are taking a tip do be mindful of
02:08that. Thunderstorms
02:09rumbling on into the evening time and then some low cloud developing across eastern parts of Scotland.
02:14Northeast England overnight. Some light rain and drizzle in places. Still the risk of one or two showers
02:19across southern England continuing through the night. A bit of a north-easterly breeze developing
02:23which means northern and eastern areas a little cooler. Temperatures falling into mid-single figures
02:28across northern Scotland under the clearest skies. Quite a contrast to parts of England and Wales.
02:33Particularly the southwest here. Temperatures may not fall below 20 celsius once again. So another tropical
02:39night for some of us. Very difficult for sleeping. Temperatures still high 20s when we go to sleep first thing.
02:45Then on Wednesday plenty of sunny spells across England and Wales to start the day. Some low cloud in the
02:51east
02:51though stretching up into southern and eastern Scotland. But this should lift and break a little
02:56as we go through the day. The heat of the day again will trigger some heavy showers across parts of
03:00the
03:00Wales into the Midlands. The odd rumble of thunder is possible. But plenty of sunny spells for northern
03:05Ireland into northwest Scotland. So lifting the temperatures here too. But a bit of an easterly breeze. So eastern areas
03:11held back at the mid-teens. But as soon as you come inland. Temperatures in the mid-twenties locally.
03:17Getting into the low 30s in the heat in the southwest. 30, 31, possibly 32 degrees again.
03:23So a very hot end to the day for parts of England and Wales. Some further showers possible as we
03:29move
03:29through into the evening. The odd rumble of thunder. And it's developing a little more widely as we
03:33end the day on Wednesday. And go overnight into Thursday. A sign of things to come as we continue
03:39to move through the week. So looking at the details for the rest of the week. Plenty of sunny spells
03:44still on Thursday and Friday. The warmest day of the week possible for parts of Northern Ireland
03:48and Scotland. But signs of a change as we head towards the weekend. Temperatures likely to start
03:54coming down. But only slowly. Still the high 20s, low 30s for the end of the week. But eventually towards
04:00the weekend. Temperatures do start coming down from the north. So a very hot start to the week. Record
04:07breaking by day and by night. But a cooler end. Especially by Sunday and into the beginning of
04:14next week too. More information on this can be found on our social media channels. See you again soon.
