A panchayat-owned drinking water tanker overturned on the roadside in Kerala’s Thrissur district after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, narrowly avoiding a major tragedy.
The incident took place in the Erumappetti-Kuttanchery-Nellikunnu area and was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. The footage has since gone viral on social media.
According to preliminary reports, the tanker suddenly went out of control while moving along the road and toppled onto its side.
Authorities suspect that overspeeding or a possible technical malfunction may have contributed to the accident. However, the exact cause of the mishap has not yet been confirmed.
Fortunately, no deaths or serious injuries were reported in the incident.
Local residents said a major disaster was narrowly averted, as the tanker could have caused severe damage if it had crashed into nearby buildings, vehicles, or pedestrians.
Police officials reached the spot soon after receiving information and carried out a preliminary inspection of the accident site.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact reason behind the crash and whether negligence on the part of the driver was involved.
