CCTV Shows Youth Falling into Open Drain Near Agam Kuan Overbridge; Major Tragedy Averted

A young man narrowly escaped a serious accident after falling into an open roadside chamber near the Agam Kuan Overbridge in Patna on the night of March 2, 2026.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on NMCH Road, near RMRI Ganga Medical College, under the limits of the Alamganj Police Station. CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media.

The footage shows the youth losing balance while getting off his bicycle and suddenly falling into an uncovered roadside drain chamber. The unexpected fall created panic among bystanders.

Local residents immediately rushed to his aid and launched a rescue operation. With considerable effort, they managed to pull him out safely. According to eyewitnesses, a major tragedy was averted due to the prompt response of locals. The young man’s condition is reported to be stable.

Following the incident, the area was temporarily cordoned off and several danger signs were installed.

Satyam Sahay, Sub-Divisional Officer of Patna City, stated that the administration acted swiftly to secure the site and alert the public about the open chamber.

The incident has raised concerns over civic negligence, with residents alleging that several drain covers remain open across different parts of the city. They claim such hazards pose a constant threat to pedestrians and commuters, particularly during the monsoon when waterlogging can conceal open drains.
