A serious highway accident near Devanahalli has triggered outrage after CCTV footage reportedly showed alleged negligence by a Regional Transport Office (RTO) official leading to a lorry crash.

According to reports, Dinesh Kumar D.K., an RTO officer from Nelamangala, was returning after completing squad duty in Kolar when he allegedly attempted to conduct a vehicle check outside his jurisdiction.

At a curve on the highway, the officer is said to have stopped a lorry abruptly by blocking its path with a jeep, without any prior warning. CCTV visuals show the vehicle parked in the middle of the road as officials stepped out.

Moments later, another speeding lorry approaching from behind rammed into the stationary vehicle, causing a massive collision. The impact led to the lorry losing control and overturning, resulting in a serious accident.

In a controversial turn, the officer and the jeep driver, identified as Prasanna, allegedly fled the spot immediately after the incident instead of assisting the victims.

The incident has sparked sharp criticism, with many questioning the conduct of officials responsible for enforcing traffic laws. Authorities are expected to review the CCTV footage and take appropriate action.
