A female student was injured after allegedly being attacked by a pack of stray dogs in Bengaluru’s Hoysala Nagar area near Ramamurthy Nagar, raising fresh concerns over the growing stray dog menace in the city.

The incident reportedly took place on Thursday evening and was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the locality.

The student, identified as Meghana, was allegedly walking through the area when a group of more than 10 to 15 stray dogs began barking and suddenly chased her.

According to eyewitnesses, one of the dogs bit the student multiple times while the rest of the pack surrounded and lunged at her, triggering panic in the area.

The CCTV footage shows the terrified student trying to escape as the dogs aggressively chase and attack her on the road.

Residents said the dogs were blocking the pathway when Meghana approached, after which the animals allegedly turned aggressive.

The student reportedly screamed for help and managed to move away before suffering more serious injuries.

She was immediately rushed to the KR Puram Government Hospital, where doctors provided primary treatment for the bite wounds. Officials said she sustained minor injuries and is currently out of danger.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns regarding stray dog attacks in Bengaluru. Residents of the locality alleged that repeated complaints to civic authorities about the growing number of stray dogs have not resulted in effective action.

The latest incident comes just days after another woman reportedly suffered serious injuries in a separate stray dog attack in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout area.

Residents have now urged the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to take urgent steps to control the stray dog population and improve public safety.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
