00:00Hello there, a very good morning to you. It's another sunny and very warm day greeting
00:05us for this second part of the bank holiday weekend, all courtesy of high pressure that's
00:09in charge across most areas of the UK. We do have this frontal system just lingering
00:13in the very far northwest, so there will be some outbreaks of rain from the outer Hebrides
00:17over towards the Highlands as well. A little bit of brightness emerging for eastern Scotland
00:22and particularly though from the central belt southwards, eventually into parts of Northern
00:26Ireland as well, the storyline is for plentiful amounts of sunshine to develop, almost wall-to-wall
00:30blue skies. That sunshine though will be strong with very high UV levels, so do make sure you're
00:35wearing that sun cream if you're out and about today. Temperatures peaking at around 31 degrees
00:40Celsius in the southeast, but many of us seem rather low to mid-20s. If we're looking for a
00:46little respite from this heat, then our coastal regions will provide something a touch cooler,
00:50but do be aware that sea surface temperatures at the moment are still relatively low, only
00:55around 9 to 13 degrees Celsius. So if you're on the land for a long time and then get into
01:01the sea, it might be a little bit of a surprise to the feel of that cold water. So make
01:05sure
01:05you're following the advice from our partners such as the RNLI on how to avoid cold water
01:10shock if you're heading to the beach over the next couple of days. In the overnight periods
01:15though, many of us will stay fine, dry with clear skies for the vast majority, very little
01:20cloud around, away from the far northwest where we are still going to have that cloud lingering,
01:24and those outbreaks of rain just persisting for a time as well. Despite the clear skies though,
01:30most of us are going to have a relatively mild, if not warm, night to come. Some of our urban
01:35cities, particularly in the south, holding up around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius, so it could be
01:40relatively tricky for sleeping in places. As we head into bank holiday Monday though, it's pretty
01:45much a repeat scenario across the board. That rain still in play across the far northwest first
01:50thing. It will ease later on into the afternoon, a little bit of brightness eventually emerging
01:54particularly into the Northern Isles, parts of Lewis and Harris, but really once again the vast
01:58majority of the UK seeing that sunshine developing across the board. The extra amount of sunshine
02:04though, allowing those temperatures to climb even further, and so we're now likely to be seeing
02:09around 33 degrees Celsius in the southeast, maybe even locally 34, and more broadly across even into
02:15parts of Wales, the Midlands, parts of Northern England as well, climbing into 30 degree territory.
02:21If we do hit 33, 34, that would be our hottest bank holiday on record, as well as our hottest
02:28day
02:28in May on record as well, just indicating how exceptional this heat is that is going to be
02:33building over the next few days. So do take care if you're out and about, particularly look after
02:38those vulnerable relatives that you might have in these certain situations, even though I'm sure many
02:44of us will be wanting to get outside and enjoy this rather rare sunny bank holiday that we don't
02:49always get in the UK. We'll provide plenty more details on everything as we head into next week as
02:55well, and whether that those temperatures will be continuing or if we'll see something a little
02:59cooler developing. So do subscribe to the YouTube channel, and we'll see you again later on. Bye-bye.
