00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and
00:24right, he will preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:40Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:48The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will
00:57not reject.
01:02Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and
01:09confess our many sins and wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God our Heavenly Father, but
01:19confess them with a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart, to the end that we may obtain
01:28forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly
01:42when we assemble and meet together, to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his
01:48hands, to give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word and to ask those things which
01:56are truly necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:03Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart
02:09and humble voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together, Almighty and most
02:17merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much, the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things
02:38which we ought not to have done, and so there is no health in us.
02:45But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ
03:01Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous
03:10and sober life, to the glory of your holy name.
03:14Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they
03:25may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ
03:31our Lord.
03:33Amen.
03:36Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.
04:11Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
04:41is now and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 119
04:59Your hands made me, and formed me.
05:02Give me understanding, so that I might learn your commands.
05:07Your loyal followers will be glad when they see me, for I find hope in your word.
05:13I know, Lord, that your regulations are just.
05:17You disciplined me because of your faithful devotion to me.
05:22May your loyal love console me, as you promised your servant.
05:27May I experience your compassion, so I might live, for I find delight in your law.
05:36May the arrogant be humiliated, for they have slandered me, but I meditate on your precepts.
05:45May your loyal followers turn to me, those who know your rules.
05:51May I be fully committed to your statutes, so that I might not be ashamed.
05:57May I desperately long for your deliverance.
06:00I find hope in your word.
06:03My eyes grow tired as I wait for your promise to be fulfilled.
06:08I say, when will you comfort me?
06:12For I am like a wineskin dried up in smoke.
06:15I do not forget your statutes.
06:19How long must your servant endure this?
06:22When will you judge those who pursue me?
06:25The arrogant dig pits to trap me, which violate your law.
06:31All your commands are reliable.
06:34I am pursued without reason.
06:36Help me.
06:38They have almost destroyed me here on the earth, but I do not reject your precepts.
06:46Revive me with your loyal love, that I might keep the rules you have revealed.
06:52O Lord, your instructions endure.
06:55They stand secure in heaven.
06:58You demonstrate your faithfulness to all generations.
07:02You established the earth and it stood firm.
07:05Today they stand firm by your decrees, for all things are your servants.
07:12If I had not found encouragement in your law, I would have died in my sorrow.
07:19I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have revived me.
07:25I belong to you, deliver me, for I seek your precepts.
07:31The wicked prepare to kill me, and yet I concentrate on your rules.
07:37I realize that everything has its limits, but your commands are full comprehension.
07:45O how I love your law!
07:48All day long I meditate on it.
07:52Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for I am always aware of them.
07:59I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your rules.
08:05I am more discerning than those older than I, for I observe your precepts.
08:12I stay away from every evil path, so that I might keep your instructions.
08:19I do not turn aside from your regulations, for you teach me.
08:24Your words are sweeter in my mouth than honey.
08:28Your precepts give me discernment, therefore I hate all deceitful actions.
08:36Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
08:42is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
08:46Amen.
08:56The first book of Kings, chapter 21.
09:02After this, the following episode took place.
09:06Naboth the Jezreelite owned a vineyard in Jezreel, adjacent to the palace of King Ahab of Samaria.
09:16Ahab said to Naboth, give me your vineyard, that I may make a vegetable garden out of it,
09:22for it is next to my palace.
09:26I will give you an even better vineyard in its place, or if you prefer, I will pay you silver
09:31for it.
09:33But Naboth replied to Ahab, the Lord forbid that I should sell you my inheritance.
09:41So Ahab went into his palace bitter and angry that Naboth the Jezreelite had said, I will
09:49not sell to you my ancestral inheritance.
09:53He lay down on his bed, pouted, and refused to eat.
09:58Then his wife Jezebel came in and said to him, why do you have such a bitter attitude and
10:04refuse to eat?
10:06He answered her, while I was talking to Naboth the Jezreelite, I said to him, sell me your
10:12vineyard for silver, or if you prefer, I will give you another vineyard in its place.
10:19But he said, I will not sell you my vineyard.
10:25His wife Jezebel said to him, you are the king of Israel, get up, eat some food and have
10:31a good time.
10:32I will get the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite for you.
10:38And so she went in signed orders, using Ahab's name on them, and sealed them with his seal.
10:46Then she sent the orders to the leaders and to the nobles who lived in Naboth city.
10:52This is what she wrote.
10:55Observe the time of fasting and seek Naboth in front of the people.
11:00Also seek two villains opposite and have them give witness to say, you cursed God and the
11:07king.
11:07king.
11:08Then take him out and stone him to death.
11:15The men of the city, the leaders and the nobles who lived there, followed the written
11:20orders that Jezebel had sent them.
11:23They observed a time of fasting and put Naboth in front of the people.
11:28The two villains arrived and sat opposite.
11:32Then the villains gave witness against Naboth right before the people saying, Naboth cursed
11:39God and the king.
11:41And so they dragged him outside the city and stoned him to death.
11:47When Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned to death, she said to Ahab, get up and take
11:54possession of the vineyard Naboth the Jezreelite refused to sell you for silver, for Naboth is
11:59no longer alive, he is dead.
12:02And when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, he got up and went down to take possession of
12:08the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.
12:15Meanwhile, the Lord told Elijah the Tishbite, get up and go down and meet king Ahab of Israel,
12:22who lives in Samaria.
12:25He is at the vineyard of Naboth.
12:27He has gone there to take possession of it.
12:31Say to him, this is what the Lord says.
12:34Haven't you committed murder and taken possession of the property of the deceased?
12:41They say to him, this is what the Lord says.
12:45In the spots where dogs licked up Naboth's blood,
12:48they will also lick up your blood.
12:51Yes, even yours.
12:56When Elijah arrived, Ahab said to him, so you have found me my enemy.
13:03Elijah replied, I have found you because you are committed to doing evil in the sight of the Lord.
13:11The Lord says, look, I am ready to bring disaster on you.
13:15I will destroy you and cut off every last male belonging to Ahab in Israel, including the weak and the
13:23incapacitated.
13:24I will make your dynasty like those of Jeroboam, son of Nebat, and Bashar, son of Ahijah,
13:31because you have angered me and made Israel sin.
13:37The Lord says this about Jezebel, dogs will devour Jezebel by the outer wall of Jezreel.
13:46As for Ahab's family, dogs will eat the ones who die in the city and the birds of the sky
13:52will eat the ones who die in the country.
13:56There had never been anyone quite like Ahab, who was so firmly committed to doing evil in the sight of
14:03the Lord, urged on by his wife Jezebel.
14:07He was so wicked, he worshipped the disgusting idols, like the Amorites, that the Lord had driven out from before
14:14the Ishmaelites.
14:18When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and fasted.
14:25He slept in sackcloth and walked around dejected.
14:31The Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, have you noticed how Ahab shows remorse before me?
14:38Because he shows remorse before me, I will not bring disaster on his dynasty during his own lifetime, but during
14:47the reign of his son.
14:50This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
15:09Mary said,
15:11My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour, because he has looked
15:19upon the humble state of his servant.
15:23For from now on all generations will call me blessed, because he who is mighty has done great things for
15:31me, and holy is his name.
15:34From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
15:41He has demonstrated power with his arm.
15:44He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
15:50He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up those of lowly position.
15:57He has filled the hungry with good things, and has sent the rich away empty.
16:03He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy, as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham, and to his
16:13descendants for ever.
16:16Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
16:23is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
16:36The Epistle to Philemon
16:41From Paul, and the prisoner of Christ Jesus and Timothy, our brother, to Philemon, our dear friend and co-laborer,
16:50to Aphia, our sister, to Aphia, our fellow soldier, and to the church that meets in your house.
16:59Grace and peace to you, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
17:06I always thank my God, as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear of your faith in the
17:13Lord Jesus, and your love for all the saints.
17:17I pray that the faith you share with us may deepen your understanding of every blessing that belongs to you
17:24in Christ.
17:26I have had great joy and encouragement because of your love, for the hearts of the saints have been refreshed
17:32through you, dear brother.
17:36So, although I have quite a lot of confidence in Christ, and could command you to do what is proper,
17:43I would rather appeal to you on the basis of love.
17:47I, Paul, an old man and even now a prisoner for the sake of Christ Jesus,
17:53I am appealing to you concerning my child, whose spiritual father I have become during my imprisonment,
18:01that is, Onesimus, who was formerly useless to you, but is now useful to both you and me.
18:10I have sent him, who is in my very heart, back to you.
18:15I wanted to keep him, so that he could serve me in your place during my imprisonment for the sake
18:23of the gospel.
18:25However, without your consent, I did not want to do anything,
18:29so that your good deed would not be out of compulsion, but from your own willingness.
18:35Or perhaps it was for this reason that he was separated from you for a little while,
18:41so that you could have him back eternally, no longer as a slave, but more than a slave as a
18:47dear brother.
18:49He is especially so to me, and even more so to you now, both humanly speaking and in the Lord.
18:59Therefore, if you would regard me as a partner, accept him as you would me.
19:05If he has defrauded you of anything or owes you anything, charge what he owes to me.
19:13I, Paul, have written this letter with my own hand.
19:17I will repay it.
19:19I would also mention that you owe me your very self.
19:24Yes, brother, let me have some benefit from you in the Lord.
19:28Refresh my heart in Christ, since I was confident that you would obey.
19:33I wrote to you, because I knew you would do so even more than what I am asking you to
19:39do.
19:41At the same time also, prepare a place for me to stay, for I hope that, through your prayers, I
19:48will be given back to you.
19:52Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, greets you.
19:57Mark, Aristarchus, Demos and Luke, my co-laborers, greet you too.
20:01May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
20:07This is the word of the Lord.
20:10Thanks be to God.
20:23Now, according to your word, Sovereign Lord,
20:27permit your servant to depart in peace.
20:29For my eyes have seen your salvation, that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
20:38a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.
20:46Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
20:50as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
20:56Amen.
21:01I believe in God the Father Almighty,
21:05Maker of heaven and earth,
21:07and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
21:11who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
21:14born of the Virgin Mary,
21:16suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
21:19was crucified, dead, and buried.
21:23He descended into hell.
21:25On the third day he rose again from the dead.
21:29He ascended into heaven,
21:31and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
21:36From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
21:40I believe in the Holy Spirit,
21:42the Holy Catholic Church,
21:44the communion of saints,
21:46the forgiveness of sins,
21:48the resurrection of the body,
21:51and the life everlasting.
21:53Amen.
21:59The Lord be with you,
22:02and with your spirit.
22:06Let us pray.
22:09Lord, have mercy upon us.
22:13Christ, have mercy upon us.
22:17Lord, have mercy upon us.
22:24Our Father,
22:25who is in heaven,
22:27holy is your name.
22:30May your kingdom come.
22:32May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
22:37Give us this day our daily bread.
22:39Forgive us our trespasses,
22:41as we forgive those who trespass against us.
22:46Lead us not into temptation,
22:48but deliver us from evil.
22:52For yours is the kingdom,
22:54the power and the glory,
22:56for ever and ever.
22:59Amen.
23:03O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
23:06and grant us your salvation.
23:12Protect and guide those in authority over us,
23:17and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
23:23Endue your ministers with righteousness,
23:26and make your chosen people joyful.
23:31O Lord, save your people,
23:35and bless your inheritance.
23:40Give peace in our time, O Lord,
23:43because there is none other who fights for us,
23:46but only you, O God.
23:50O God, make clean our hearts within us,
23:55and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
24:07Let us pray.
24:10O God,
24:11O God, who has at this time taught the hearts of your faithful people,
24:15by sending to them the light of your Holy Spirit,
24:19grant us,
24:20by the same Spirit,
24:22to have a right judgment in all things,
24:25and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort,
24:29through the merits of Christ Jesus,
24:33our Savior,
24:33who lives and reigns with you,
24:36in the unity of the same Spirit,
24:39one God,
24:40one God,
24:41world without end.
24:42Amen.
24:51O God,
24:52from whom all holy desires,
24:55all good counsels,
24:56and all just works proceed,
24:59give to your servants that peace,
25:01which the world cannot give,
25:04that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
25:08and also that,
25:10by you,
25:11we,
25:12being defended from the fear of our enemies,
25:15may pass our time in rest and quietness,
25:18through the merits of Jesus Christ,
25:21our Savior.
25:23Amen.
25:28Lighten our darkness,
25:29we beseech you,
25:30O Lord,
25:31and by your great mercy,
25:33defend us all,
25:34from perils and dangers of this night.
25:38For the love of your only Son,
25:40our Savior,
25:41Jesus Christ.
25:43Amen.
25:47Almighty God,
25:48who has given us grace,
25:49at this time with one accord,
25:51to make our common supplications to you,
25:55and promises that when two or three
25:57are gathered together in your name,
25:59you will grant their requests.
26:03Fulfill now, O Lord,
26:05the desires and petitions of your servants,
26:08as may be most beneficial for them,
26:12granting us in this world
26:14knowledge of your truth,
26:17and in the world to come,
26:18life everlasting.
26:21Amen.
26:24With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
26:26and the love of God,
26:28and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
26:30be with us all,
26:32evermore.
26:33Amen.
