00:26Praise, honour and glory be to you, O Christ, who, from the cross, looked in upon your mother, overwhelmed with
00:34grief and tears, and so truly took compassion on her sorrow, commending her to the care of your disciple John,
00:42as also you commended John, and in him, all of us, to her maternal care.
00:50Grant me to love and honour your mother with the purest and most ardent love, that I may have her

03:09permitted a sponge filled with vinegar to be offered to you, and that by tasting this, you might make satisfaction

03:29and may I use with moderation and thanksgiving, whatever you do give me for the support of my poor body.

03:44to you, and may find nothing but bitterness in whatever displeases you.
03:51Praise, honour and glory be to you, O Christ, you, the greatest lover of the human race, who, when you
03:58were bringing out the work of our redemption to a close, brought yourself as a holy victim upon the altar
04:05of the cross for the sin of all mankind.
04:09May this be the only end, I beg you, of all my thoughts, words and works, namely, to seek your
04:17honour with an upright and sincere heart, and to desire nothing save you alone.

13:29Peter said, I will never let my feet be washed by you, never

13:56and his clean all over, you my disciples are clean, but not all of you
14:03for he had knowledge of who was false to him, which is why he said, you are not all clean

16:49some were of the opinion
16:50that because Judas kept the money back

16:54go buy the things we have need of for the feast
16:57or that he was to give something to the poor
17:03Judas having taken the bread
17:05straight away went out
17:06and it was night
17:09then when he had gone out
17:11Jesus said
17:13now is glory given to the son of man
17:15and God is given glory in him
17:18if God is given glory in him
17:20God will give him glory in himself
17:22and will give him glory even now
17:26my dear children
17:27I am only to be with you a little longer
17:30then you will be looking for me
17:33and as I have said to the Jews
17:35so I say now to you
17:37where I am going
17:38you may not come
17:40I give you a new law
17:43have love one for another
17:45even as I have had love for you
17:47so are you to love each other
17:52by this
17:53it will be clear to all men
17:55that you are my disciples
17:56if you have loved one for another
18:01this is the word of the Lord
18:04thanks be to God
18:14although Jesus had spoken in the past
18:17to his disciples about his betrayal
18:19this is the first time
18:21he tells them that it will be one of them
18:23who will perform the deed
18:26in the midst of those
18:27who should be united
18:28in their support and loyalty to him
18:30there lay a traitor
18:33one who was not all
18:34that he seemed to be
18:38if we look around at society
18:40we can see similar things today
18:42for in any organisation
18:44you will find the weak link
18:47the one who is not totally committed
18:50the one who could desert the cause
18:52if the going became too difficult
18:54or dangerous
18:57in the case of Judas
18:59and whilst we can never be sure
19:01what his motive was
19:03for what he was about to do
19:05it is quite likely
19:07that he had begun to realise
19:08that Jesus was heading down
19:10a path different
19:11to the one that he had picked
19:13for himself
19:17we can see the same thing
19:18in our church fellowship
19:20that perhaps not with the same
19:22dangerous consequences
19:25there can be those who attend
19:26on a regular basis
19:28who say and do all the right things
19:31but who lack the same conviction
19:33as shared by the others
19:36it is generally impossible to tell
19:39who they are
19:39and we should not attempt to judge
19:43but we should accept
19:44that there are always going to be those
19:47whose motivations are
19:49perhaps a little different
19:50to our own
19:52let us remember
19:53that even amongst the disciples
19:55it was impossible for them
19:57to tell who it would be
19:59but we will come back to this
20:01on another occasion
20:03we read of a wonderful truth
20:05from our Lord
20:07if we accept those
20:08who are sent in his name
20:09we accept him
20:10and if we accept him
20:13we accept the Father
20:15by extension
20:16of course
20:17the reverse is true
20:19for if we kneel in front of Jesus
20:20we kneel in front of God the Father
20:23and he welcomes us
20:25into his kingdom
20:29Jesus knew of course
20:31all about what was coming
20:32from the who
20:33to the what
20:34and to the when
20:36which would have made things
20:37doubly hard for him
20:41first
20:42worst of all
20:43he was to be betrayed
20:44by someone
20:45he had chosen
20:46to betray him
20:48this surely
20:49is the most difficult situation
20:51we could imagine
20:51if ever there was one
20:54and we read today
20:55that he carried that knowledge
20:57with a heavy heart
21:01sometimes
21:01and hopefully
21:02not too often
21:03we may be called upon
21:05to do things
21:05that are going to be
21:06very unpleasant
21:08the sorts of things
21:09that will probably be
21:10hard
21:11to try and weasel
21:12out of
21:12if we wanted to
21:15when we are confronted
21:16by this
21:17we should remember Jesus
21:18as he prepared
21:19to do his father's duty
21:21and pay the ultimate
21:23sacrifice
21:24for us
21:26we should also remember
21:28that God is with us
21:29walking beside
21:30or even on occasion
21:32carrying us
21:33and that whatever
21:34the upshot will be
21:35he will be there
21:37with us
21:39I cannot really imagine
21:40that we would have to
21:42face anything like
21:43that faced by Jesus
21:45that first Easter
21:50with the departure of Judas
21:52on his treacherous mission
21:53Jesus remained
21:55with his true friends
21:56and shared with them
21:57one final
21:58great commandment
22:00that we should love
22:02one another
22:02as he loved us
22:06how difficult this is
22:07even those of us
22:09we love as dearly
22:10as is humanly possible
22:13can cause us
22:14to become upset
22:14and irritated
22:15from time to time
22:18a state which is
22:19hardly Christ like
22:20and yet this is exactly
22:22what we are called
22:23to do
22:25however
22:26it is a work in progress
22:28for us
22:28it is a path
22:30we have to take
22:31rather than merely
22:32flipping a switch
22:35what do I mean by this
22:37quite simply
22:38we can make a decision
22:40to follow in Christ's steps
22:41to walk
22:43to the best of our ability
22:44in his path
22:45attempting in prayer
22:47and meditation
22:48to get closer
22:49and closer to him
22:51as we draw closer
22:53we not only become
22:54closer spiritually
22:55but it becomes easier
22:57for us to think
22:58as he thinks
22:58and to do
22:59as he would do
23:00in our place
23:03this is not something
23:04we learn
23:04in an instant
23:06it is a skill
23:07acquired over a lifetime
23:10and we will never
23:11quite make
23:12that perfection
23:13however long
23:14and however hard
23:15we may try
23:18there are no perfect saints
23:20in the world
23:21just saintly people
23:24maybe we should think
23:25about that one
23:26for a moment
23:29let us remember also
23:30that every one of us
23:31falls from time to time
23:33even Peter
23:34slipped
23:35when in the company
23:36of Gentiles
23:37Galatians 2.11
23:39and had to be taken
23:40to one side
23:41by Paul
23:42what counts
23:43however
23:44is not so much
23:45what we do
23:46but our reaction
23:47to what we do
23:50we are called upon
23:51to confess our failings
23:53to pray for guidance
23:54and to pray for strength
23:56so that rather than
23:58being failings
23:59they become points
24:01of strength
24:02in our future
24:05the amazing thing here
24:06is that the more
24:07we recognise
24:08and understand
24:08our own failings
24:09the more we can
24:11also understand
24:12those of our brothers
24:13and sisters around us
24:16not one of us
24:17is perfect
24:18and as we begin
24:20to understand
24:20our own imperfection
24:21so we are better able
24:23to love and support
24:24others
24:24so much more
24:26effectively
24:26and compassionately
24:33let us pray
24:37almighty
24:38and everlasting
24:39God
24:39give unto us
24:41an increase
24:42of faith
24:43hope
24:44and charity
24:44that we might
24:46obtain that
24:47which you promise
24:48and make us love
24:50that
24:50which you command
24:51through Jesus Christ
24:54our Lord
24:55Amen

25:02bless us
25:03and keep us
25:03from all evil
25:04bringing us
25:06to everlasting life
