00:00This program contains some material that is unsuitable for young children.
00:37Beyond the Tape, we'll be back after these messages.
01:00This means that if I am looking for an alternative to animal-based gelatin for personal reasons, they are the
01:05best choice for my little ones.

01:26You're worth it.
01:30You're worth it.
02:25Good evening Trinidad and Tobago, and to our global audience as well.
02:29This is Beyond the Tape.
02:31I'm your host, Whitney Husbands.
02:32Today's Friday, yes it is, is the end of yet another work week.
02:36Now, for some people, but for the TTPS, along with the media, we continue to work extremely hard.
02:42Now, we continue to pray and hope to get some sort of information when it comes to bringing closure to
02:49the two-year-old Angelo Tobias Plaza,
02:52who is still missing, so we're hoping for a recovery soon.
02:56Now, today and every Friday, to make sure we close off our week with more information and hopefully to guide
03:02us as law-abiding citizens,
03:04we have ASP Russell here with us back once again.
03:07Good evening to you, sir.
03:08Good evening, Ms. Husbands.
03:09Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago, and to our international viewers on behalf of our Commissioner of Police,
03:15Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, and First and Second Division Officers of the...
03:20Esteemed.
03:20Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
03:22Yes, so, I mean, I am seeing in your face that it seems like you didn't get any rest.
03:27So, you're extremely busy.
03:30And where are we now?
03:32Well, Ms. Husbands, you know, it's...
03:35A lot going on.
03:36A lot has been going on, and Trinidad and Tobago is a place where we always want to something next.
03:43You know, when you look at all that took place during the week, our commissioners, press conference that seemed to,
03:53you know, create quite a stir.
03:56You know, there's a lot going on.
03:57We see several fatalities today on the roadway as well.
04:01Two motorcyclists being involved in fatal accidents just hours apart from each other at different locations.
04:10You know, you would want to know what is really going on.
04:13Are we really exercising due care and attention on the nation's roadway?
04:16Of course, we have the topic of the incident with the school children, you know.
04:21So, there's a lot taking place in Trinidad and Tobago.
04:24And the TTPS, despite what may come, what may go, we remain resolute.
04:31We remain open, accountable, transparent, and willing to work with members of the public,
04:38and as well as the media to share the truthful and correct information about situations of national interest.
04:46And speaking of national interest, we have a media release from the TTPS here this evening
04:51where four held, two firearms, ammunition, and marijuana trees seized in NED.
04:57Now, four prisons were arrested and two firearms and quantities of ammunition and marijuana trees seized
05:03during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Northeastern Division this week.
05:08Now, the intelligence-led exercise took place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesday the 20th of
05:14May,
05:152026 in the Bar Tarrier District.
05:18During the exercise, officers proceeded to Sawmill Avenue
05:21where they arrested one 20-year-old male suspect for possession of one Glock 19 pistol
05:28and possession of two magazines containing a total of 25 rounds of ammunition.
05:33Further searches in the same district resulted in the discovery and destruction of 30 fully grown marijuana trees
05:42in an abandoned area.
05:44Officers also arrested three suspects, ages 23 to 26, all of Mova,
05:49for possession of one Beretta pistol and one magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition.
05:56Investigations are ongoing into the above matters.
06:00Yes, Steve?
06:01And I want to commend the police for their good work.
06:03You know, two firearms were off the street.
06:05Several persons arrested.
06:06Ms. Osborne's at 20 years.
06:08Is that 20-year-old?
06:09We'll be saying that.
06:10Yeah.
06:10They said between 23 to 26.
06:13So look at that.
06:13We had a 20-year-old held with what I Glock and 2 magazine,
06:16and the other firearm was age 20.
06:19Yes.
06:21To 23.
06:2223.
06:23To 26.
06:23No, but you're right.
06:24Also, one 20-year-old male suspect was held with possession.
06:27With a Glock and two magazines.
06:29Yes.
06:29Look at the ages of these young men.
06:34They were alive.
06:34Somewhat could even call them children.
06:36Where do they go after that?
06:38When you have your, let's say, it's ventilated in the court,
06:43and, you know, it's a conviction.
06:45The police is able to secure a conviction.
06:48You have this firearm record on your certificate of character going forward.
06:54Then what do you do?
06:56How do you navigate that?
06:58How does it shape your life?
07:00I don't know if persons take these things into consideration to say,
07:04you know, how this would negatively affect me.
07:06A lot of persons are going out there with the attitude or the mindset
07:09they would not be caught.
07:11But time after time, you are seeing several persons being arrested for home invasion,
07:16several persons who engage the police,
07:19met their demise as a result of the police defending themselves
07:22by, you know, taking into accordance our use of force policy 9201.
07:28So we are asking, I don't know if persons are not seeing enough things
07:31to deter them from a life of crime.
07:33I am not certain what is going on.
07:36And I hope that the parents, the relatives, the loved ones
07:39could really have a proper conversation
07:41and really see how we as a society could all work together
07:46to help whether it means more jobs, more training programs,
07:49more social programs.
07:51Maybe it means we have to have neighborhood altar classes.
07:55Could it be a lack of education?
07:57Could it be a level of illiteracy that persons can't read?
08:01They even take an exam to secure themselves,
08:03to qualify themselves with some passes or some sort of certificate
08:07that they could start a trade.
08:09In other words, a lot of things could be done.
08:10But we need to find a way to discourage the young men and women of this country
08:16from this crime and this violent behavior
08:18and this gang activity that we want to engage in.
08:21I mean, the conversation will continue relentlessly when it comes to that
08:25and we are hoping that we will find a solution moving forward
08:28with the families and persons who want to get involved in that.
08:31Now, you mentioned with some fatalities that took place
08:34and this one stood out in a major way in the Guaiku Licensing Office
08:40closed after officers' crash death.
08:44The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation today announced
08:47the temporary closure of the Guaiku Licensing Office
08:50following the death of Motu Vehicle Officer Keon Bratswitz
08:57in a fatal road accident along the Komoto Main Road.
09:01And again, condolences to the family.
09:05When you look at the video, the person is looking at the video,
09:08what do you realize?
09:11A vehicle overtook a truck.
09:16Yes.
09:18Head-on collusion.
09:19There is no way outside of God that that person could have survived that.
09:23Condolences God to the family of the deceased on behalf of the Trinan
09:28and Tobago Police Service.
09:29And, you know, strangely enough, I was at an event last Saturday
09:34and a gentleman walked up to me.
09:36He said, sir, I know you're on your own private time,
09:39but could you please warn the motorists to look out for the cyclists,
09:43the motorcyclists, the cyclists and the runners on the roadway, please?
09:46Because what we're witnessing here, according to the reports that we have here as well,
09:50that we're already seeing,
09:51is that the video where we're seeing the SUV was overtaking the said truck
09:57and entering, obviously, not in the lane that they're supposed to be in.
10:01Jesus.
10:01On the oncoming motorcyclists moments before the collision took place.
10:06And this is why it is very, very important for us to understand.
10:12When we're seeing a roadway like this, it's not many lanes.
10:15Not many lanes at all.
10:17It's just two lanes.
10:18So, and both lanes are not going in the same direction.
10:21And then Mr. Burwell is doing his thing.
10:23Maybe we need to have persons go back and look at their regulations.
10:26Yes.
10:26Because I'm not sure if they are the broken lines or solid lines.
10:31And, you know, once they are solid lines, there's no overtaking.
10:34No overtaking.
10:34Correct.
10:34So, I'm wondering what signage.
10:36And I think I'm seeing somewhat of a crosswalk somewhere there as well.
10:40I'm looking on the ground.
10:41So, I'm really hoping that the investigations with this.
10:46But they also said that he tried to slow down thinking.
10:48I'm assuming that the tribal who is in the wrong lane,
10:52because he started to slow down.
10:54But, Ms. Husband.
10:55That he will go back into his lane.
10:57Well, yeah.
10:58But, Ms. Husband, I have class one.
11:02I used to ride motorcycles.
11:04And motorcycles, it's a very fast vehicle.
11:09I had a big bike, a 1000cc bike.
11:12And a lot of motorists underestimate the speed of these bikes.
11:17Mind you, the speed limit is for the bikers as well.
11:21The speed limit is for the bikers as well.
11:25But, a lot of motorists in their vehicles, their trucks, their SUVs underestimate the speed of these motorcycles.
11:35And is it that the drivers themselves of the vehicles, they have zero respect for the motorcyclists?
11:46Yes, it's clear.
11:47And there are some, I remember.
11:48You think, you're not only small enough, go up.
11:50I remember riding one time.
11:52And before our laws were so stringent with respect to the speeding.
11:57Yeah.
11:57And I remember riding, and we head into a bike show, and a gentleman with a fast vehicle, I didn't
12:04want to call the brand for fear of advertising.
12:06He is actually racing, trying to keep up.
12:09No, that is crazy.
12:10And I said to myself, before this gentleman bongs me, I'm going to let him go.
12:15Yes.
12:15My mother said to me, she said, the best thing you do for me was sell that bike.
12:19I agree.
12:20I agree.
12:21Now, to each his own, who, you know, the persons who are able to ride it, but we also have
12:25to respect the motorcyclists also that are on the road and the same vice versa.
12:30Now, this video we are about to show right now, ASP, came from social media, social media page.
12:39Now, we're not 100% if it's local, it looks.
12:41Maybe it might be local.
12:42But what I could say is, this is how far the criminal elements will go to get what they're looking
12:50for.
12:51But persons are not backing down.
12:52Take a look at this.
13:03So, we're not sure, ASP, with regards to this being local.
13:09And this was last night that this took place, around 9.17 p.m.
13:18So, and we're seeing the individuals, ASP.
13:21And I love that, I mean, I shouldn't say love in this regard, but how quickly the lady moved.
13:29Yeah.
13:29She was alert and paying attention.
13:31She was vigilant.
13:34Responsible words?
13:38Can I say beautiful?
13:40Excellent words?
13:42Can I say that?
13:42Well, Ms. Husband, we want to applaud the vigilance of the female in the picture.
13:48Hats off to the driver of the vehicle.
13:50I guess it could have been the female as well.
13:52She would have probably run back to her car.
13:54And that is very good quick thinking, eh?
13:58That is very good quick thinking.
14:00Because ASP also mentioned when persons are coming home, make sure you have someone that is there to assist you
14:06at least to open a gate.
14:07Because this is what helped.
14:08Yeah.
14:08Because if the driver had to drive in, I mean, with your expertise, ASP, what do you think caused them
14:18to hesitate before fully entering onto the compound?
14:21Well, I am not so certain.
14:24But then maybe the persons were looking to hide or they were doubting that they would have driven out like
14:29that in an attempt to bonk them.
14:32And I mean, oh, not to bonk, but escape whatever terror they were coming to their homes to cause.
14:39And situations like these, it frightens people.
14:43I mean, you are in your gate, you are about to lock your gate.
14:46Yes.
14:46And what is so nice, a lot of persons, when they're reaching the vicinity of their homes or their neighborhoods,
14:51they tend to relax.
14:52Yes.
14:53So it goes to show that you keep alert until you're inside and your doors are locked and you're secured
14:58on the inside.
14:59You know, and we thank God firstly and we thank that they were able to think quickly.
15:06And, you know, the gate will fix back.
15:09The car may have experienced some damages.
15:11Well, who abandoned the gate?
15:12The excellent job, the gate was still standing.
15:14The gate was still standing.
15:15Yeah, the gate will fix back.
15:17And if he could.
15:17I hope that there is enough information that we could really, if it is indeed from Trinidad and Tobago, that
15:25the lady makes a report.
15:27Yes.
15:27And that we are able to initiate investigations and really ascertain who these perpetrators are and, you know, bring them
15:35before the court.
15:35All right.
15:36As we move straight ahead, it's time to take a look at your SOE update as of May 22, 2026.
15:45Number of operations, 5,986.
15:49Number of targets, priority offenders, 1,823.
15:53Sages conducted, 2,865.
15:55Traffic operations, 3,514.
16:00Total persons arrested, 2,619.
16:04Total persons charged, 555.
16:08Firearms recovered.
16:09We're seeing an increase with the shotguns, giving us a total of 161.
16:14Ammunition recovered.
16:15We're seeing an increase with the 9mm, the 12 gauge, and the 7.62 millimeter.
16:23And that is a total of 3,222.
16:28And dangerous drug sees.
16:29We're seeing an increase once again with the cannabis along with the cocaine ESP.
16:33Yes, firearms, ammunition, and drugs.
16:37That 7.62 ammunition, Ms. Husbands, is a frightening wrong, you know.
16:42Is it as long as my finger, my index finger?
16:44It is long, and it is almost unstoppable.
16:50It can rip through.
16:52It will improve us.
16:53Oh, wow.
16:54Solid objects, wood.
16:57We had war.
16:58Yeah, it would appear.
17:01Yeah, so that 7.62 is a whole different caliber.
17:04That is military type caliber of ammunition.
17:09Yeah.
17:11So as we continue, DTGPS, I mean, I don't envy your job at all.
17:14It's time to look at what we're making today's headlines.
17:43It's time to look at what we're making today's headlines.
18:00And those are your stories making today's headlines.
18:02Remember, you could give us a call at 623-1711, extension 1996 and 1997.

20:52And we are back.
20:53And of course, if you're now joining us,
20:54we have ASP Russell here with us this Friday.
20:58And remember, we were speaking of us understanding
21:00the rules and regulations of the roadways.
21:03And Russell's sharpening up.
21:04Of course.
21:05So let's head back to basics so we can continue to learn.
21:08Let's take a look.
21:17We are looking for you.
21:18I am watching over the road, but you saw it in here.
21:20No, here I go, Nana.
21:22I like the cutting.
21:23The cutting, put it in there.
21:24Oh, jeez, that is class.
21:26Not bad at all.
21:27Pull it again.
21:28Pull it again and show them, no man.
21:30Oh, jeez, the pipe.
21:31Let's see if I saw.
21:31Right.
21:32Right.
21:34So here I go.
21:35Make me feel small, boy.
21:37Right.
21:37All looking apart here, right?
21:38So here I go, right?
21:39Yeah, man.
21:39We are asking you three simple questions.
21:42You have to get three right.
21:43Okay.
21:44I know that it's a kite for you.
21:45So here it is.
21:47If the signal light changes from green to amber
21:50as you approach an intersection,
21:53what must you do?
21:55A, stop.
21:56If a stop cannot be made,
21:58say if we proceed with a...
22:00The man stopped her one time, he said A.
22:02Just pull her back in there, man.
22:03See what?
22:05Jesus Christ.
22:06Look, we'll put her back.
22:06Let me go.
22:07Question two here.
22:08We are wasting time.
22:09Right.
22:10Which of the following actions
22:13when performed while driving
22:14is considered distracted driving?
22:18Texting, talking on the phone,
22:21adjusting the radio,
22:25focusing on...
22:26All of the above.
22:28Sir, you are the answers there, man.
22:30Especially the family problem.
22:32Ah, yeah.
22:33Like when you are the Wi-Fi thing,
22:34and you're the thing,
22:34thing, thing, thing, thing.
22:35We'll go get into the details right now,
22:37but right.
22:38So, and here what?
22:38Hold this one.
22:40Nice.
22:40You see this nice little circle, yeah?
22:43Yeah.
22:44With the dash across?
22:46What that means?
22:46No problem.
22:48Where is that?
22:49No problem.
22:50You cannot get one wrong
22:50to make it look bad, sir.
22:52So let me shake your truck, man.
22:58And I thank you
22:59for being so knowledgeable
23:01and being safe on the road, right?
23:02And we have a small
23:03touch of appreciation
23:06from the
23:06Princess Town Police Station
23:08Council
23:08and also the TPBHC.
23:10Princess Town people are gay.
23:11You're right, people, you know?
23:12Yeah, yeah, yeah.
23:13So, sir,
23:15thank you again
23:16on behalf of
23:16Princess Town Police Station Council.
23:18I thank you.
23:20And we encourage you
23:20to continue
23:21going through your regulations
23:22and teaching others
23:23the safety on the road, right?
23:26And let's put it
23:26behind one last time
23:27for the industry private.
23:28Right, right, right.
23:29Good, good.
23:30We've got it.
23:30And you all love
23:32to go against truck drivers.
23:33He got through out of 3D, man.
23:35He answered the question
23:36before he was finished red.
23:37So, again,
23:38we are thankful
23:39that the truck drivers
23:40know the safety
23:41and regulations
23:43for the road
23:43and we encourage
23:44others to do so.
23:54And that's what you're
23:55back to basic ASP.
23:57A beautiful sight to see,
23:58you know,
23:58I'm not going to lie.
23:59Of course.
23:59Well done to the truck driver.
24:00And you heard him mention
24:02the station council, right?
24:03Yes.
24:04The station council
24:05is just one of the initiatives
24:06we have
24:07where we have persons
24:07from the neighbourhood.
24:08It's a committee
24:09with structure.
24:11It's a chairperson
24:12and assistant chair,
24:13secretary.
24:14It's also in our department
24:15of all of us as well
24:16where every station
24:17within a district
24:18must have a functioning
24:20station council
24:21made by most of the residents.
24:23So they bring the issues
24:24to us as well
24:25and we partner with them
24:26to help fix things,
24:27change things,
24:28adjust things.
24:29Sometimes some of them
24:29have sports days
24:30in the neighbourhood.
24:31We come out
24:32and we have our presence
24:33with them.
24:34Nothing that we charge them for
24:35but just to be around
24:36and to hear their needs
24:38continuously
24:39in addition to that
24:39we have the Tong meeting
24:40which is on a more
24:41large scale basis
24:44but with the station council
24:46and it's made up
24:47of the businessmen,
24:48the stakeholders
24:48and I'm always asking
24:49for the stakeholders
24:50to do more.
24:51So this is just an idea
24:52in case somebody wondering
24:53what really is
24:55the station council
24:56and it's nice
24:57and I am asking persons
24:58when we come to your neighbourhood
24:59and we ask
25:00for your assistance
25:01to serve on
25:02panels like these
25:05to make the effort.
25:06Yes,
25:06we have a call
25:07on the line
25:08caller,
25:08good evening.
25:10Hi,
25:11good afternoon.
25:13Good evening.
25:14Good evening.
25:19I understand
25:19that I've told you
25:20that I've made a comment
25:21that's not very interesting
25:23and so forth
25:24for you to know
25:26what I've said
25:26in point six two
25:28what it looks like.
25:30I want to suggest
25:31that your brains
25:34somebody's ammunition
25:35are just
25:36looking at people
25:37and I'm
25:38looking at whatever
25:39and what they said
25:40for a six two
25:41plus looks like
25:43and that is
25:44what they do
25:45when people use
25:47that.
25:48The public
25:49have to be aware
25:50of what it's
25:50outside is.
25:51The public
25:53has to be aware
25:54of what it's
25:55outside is.
25:56I think
25:57demonstrating
25:57something like that
25:58will make the public
26:00more aware
26:01of what we're doing.
26:22I like the caller's idea, sir.
26:26Once I could get the permission
26:27to do so
26:28firstly for my seniors
26:30and then TV6's permission,
26:32I would gladly
26:33bring and show the public
26:36what it is
26:37and really explain
26:38some of the dangers
26:40and the damages
26:41and of course
26:42death being
26:46the most critical one.
26:48Yeah.
26:49The only thing.
26:50I mean, he said
26:51if he shut his up
26:52in his foot,
26:53what can happen?
26:53The whole foot
26:54gone.
26:54That's your whole foot.
26:56Yeah.
26:56It's really, really
26:58military grade caliber
26:59of wrong.
27:00We have another caller.
27:02Caller, good evening.
27:03Oh, okay.
27:04So, with that being said,
27:06ASP, we are seeing
27:08where the public
27:10is now in a position
27:11that they are witnessing
27:13some grievous acts
27:16taking place
27:17and as the caller
27:18rightfully said,
27:19do you think
27:19that will really assist us
27:21by seeing the reality
27:22of the type of weapons
27:24being used
27:25by these criminal elements
27:26and what the TCPS
27:28now has to face
27:29with these criminal elements
27:30on a daily basis?
27:32It will definitely help.
27:35What we probably need to do
27:37is really, really highlight.
27:41Maybe from where I said
27:42the audiovisual
27:43could do something
27:44a nice little documentary
27:48or in our docu-series
27:49showing a daily life
27:54of a police officer.
27:55Probably we could go
27:56to different sections.
27:57We could probably do
27:58some video footage
28:00of the terrain we face
28:03and we go to certain communities
28:04when we're in the bush,
28:06when we're acting on information.
28:07Nothing that jeopardizes any case
28:09but it's something
28:10that really brings that...
28:14Real element.
28:14Real element.
28:15And, you know,
28:16strange enough, eh?
28:17I've heard you ask
28:18to have a ride
28:19along with the patrol.
28:20I have been begging, y'all.
28:21What was nice...
28:22I have been begging,
28:23I've been asking.
28:24Even when we went,
28:25when the association
28:27went to negotiate recently,
28:31even the CPO, Mr. Dindial,
28:33he also suggested,
28:35he said, you know,
28:35some of the persons
28:36on the panel,
28:37because you meet a room
28:38full of people
28:38and all the analysts
28:40and the accounts
28:42and stuff like that
28:43and he said, you know,
28:43maybe we need to really
28:44have some of them
28:45really just take
28:46a ride around
28:47so they could see
28:49what we really face.
28:51So when we ask
28:51for certain things,
28:52they may have
28:53an appreciation
28:56of why, you know,
28:57we should get it,
28:58why we should be...
28:58why certain things
28:59should be sped up.
29:00Like, for instance,
29:01Bollipu Vest.
29:03Body cams.
29:04Body cams come in.
29:06And right after the Bollipu Vest,
29:07I was going to say body cams
29:08because I know
29:09how Trinan and Tobago
29:09feel about the body cams
29:10and I've said
29:11on many occasions.
29:13The commission of police
29:14and the association,
29:17the Trinan and Tobago
29:18Police Service
29:19Welfare Association,
29:20we have no objections
29:22to body cams.
29:24But there's a process
29:26to acquire the body cams
29:28and I know the last update
29:30that was given
29:30is that we were just about
29:33to engage
29:33in the procurement process.
29:35Maybe the advertisement
29:37to have the vendor
29:39send their bins
29:40and stuff like that,
29:40but it must be fit for purpose
29:42and be able to withstand
29:44the rigors of policing.
29:46So we cannot just go out
29:47and buy any random one.
29:50Just make sure
29:50you have the experts
29:51who are there to be true.
29:52And of course,
29:52maintenance of it
29:53is also important,
29:54the proper contract,
29:55the proper licenses,
29:55etc., to make sure
29:57that we can really get value
29:59for the money.
30:00For money.
30:01That is very, very important.
30:03Yes, longevity.
30:05Yeah?
30:05We have another caller.
30:06Caller, good evening.
30:07Oh, sorry about that call.
30:09Remember, you can give us
30:10a call at 623-1711,
30:12extension 1996 and 1997.
30:16We continue with our calls,
30:18so we will head back
30:19to the phone line.
30:23Hello?
30:25Caller, good evening.
30:28Hello?
30:29Hello?
30:30Good afternoon.
30:31Good evening.
30:32Good evening, caller.
30:33Oh, okay.
30:34So, I said to you,
30:36let me ask you something.
30:37Yes, I was at school
30:39and I saw some
30:41check-in's kick-up
30:43because my president
30:44was going to be here
30:45and I started to be here
30:46as well.
30:48And I,
30:48for some reason,
30:49I met when I was shot
30:52and someone
30:53was doing
30:55some malfunctions
30:57that I started to be
30:59because
31:00because
31:00what is
31:01struggling with
31:01right now,
31:02I can't see
31:03a check-in's kick-up
31:05and I got to be
31:06like,
31:06you know,
31:07what a month
31:07I get a fix to her
31:08because
31:09if I got a position
31:10like that,
31:11I like to
31:12defend my defense
31:13because I can protect
31:14someone
31:14without any charge.
31:15I don't know if
31:16I'm talking to you
31:16what's up to be
31:17similar,
31:18but this one is
31:18different.
31:19I mean,
31:20I'm trapped
31:20and this is our
31:21child of the role.
31:23It is not my
31:23child,
31:24but it's our
31:25right.
31:25And what I see
31:26is this
31:27and I need
31:28this too.
31:29He can't even check
31:30again and I'm telling
31:30I'm a grandfather
31:32or what's up to say
31:33and I can't see her
31:35without any charge
31:36before I try to
31:37save our child's life
31:38and I'm saying
31:39it's going to get
31:40big and I can't
31:41determine
31:41that I'm talking
31:42because it is not
31:43like what we see.
31:45That's what I want
31:46to ask.
31:46Thank you very much.
31:47Thank you,
31:48Kola.
31:48Yes,
31:49please.
31:52This school
31:53children thing
31:54is so ticklish.
31:55We are fed up.
31:56I hear you
31:57and I understand
31:59and I would never
32:00stop commending
32:01the Ombudsman
32:02because he could
32:02have looked
32:03the other way.
32:04What I want
32:05to advise persons
32:06is call the police
32:07as much as possible.
32:09I don't want
32:10anybody playing
32:11any heroes out there.
32:12If you think
32:13it's a situation
32:14you can handle
32:15because it always
32:17appears as something
32:18you can handle
32:18and then three
32:20more persons
32:20because these fights
32:21are taking place
32:22in groups
32:22of my husbands.
32:23So you must think
32:24it's two women,
32:26two young women
32:27or two young men
32:28and you may think
32:28okay I can manage them.
32:30What happens
32:31when their friends
32:32jump in?
32:33If I stand here
32:34and I say
32:35running and part them
32:38and then something
32:39happens to you
32:39and they say
32:40Russell say
32:40running and part them
32:43and of course
32:44that is the right
32:45thing to do
32:46but I'm also
32:47concerned about
32:48your safety
32:49because
32:49and what the caller
32:50is saying
32:51is very very
32:52it's very real
32:54because he might
32:55be in a position
32:55where he ain't
32:57taking the lash
32:57from them
32:58so he run it
32:58apart and three
32:59more jump onto him
33:00of course he would
33:01defend himself
33:01it is automatic
33:02I would defend
33:04myself as well
33:04so I wouldn't
33:05stand here
33:06and say to the caller
33:07well don't
33:08don't defend him
33:09don't defend himself
33:10but one of the
33:10things with
33:11self-defense
33:12and this is what
33:13persons fail to realize
33:14your force
33:15must be proportionate
33:18in other words
33:20you can't choke
33:22the people
33:22children to death
33:23because they're
33:23coming and they
33:24cough you
33:26miss husband
33:27you're watching me
33:27with his turn
33:28look like
33:28what madness
33:29you're also talking
33:30no no I'm not
33:30going to say
33:31self-defense
33:31must be proportionate
33:33caller
33:34it must be proportionate
33:35every child
33:37cuffs you in your face
33:38you cough them
33:39back in the face
33:40that's equal force
33:41well I wouldn't
33:42want to tell you
33:43cough them back
33:43in your face
33:44if you could
33:44block block
33:45you know
33:46you must assess
33:48your situation
33:49miss husbands
33:50you see
33:53we are dealing
33:53with children
33:54but the children
33:55are not dealing
33:56with us
33:56in a manner
33:58where they're
33:59supposed to be
33:59behaving with children
34:00remember we are
34:02dealing with the
34:03children
34:03I understand
34:04how you feel
34:05there's something
34:05called the
34:06children's judges
34:07rule that even
34:08tells us the police
34:09how to treat
34:10with children
34:11are we 100%
34:13satisfied by it
34:14I don't think
34:15we are
34:15but
34:17we have to
34:18abide by
34:19what is written
34:20there
34:21unless it's
34:22an absolute
34:22emergency
34:23and we can
34:24defend
34:24acting outside
34:26of that
34:26so if
34:28if you could
34:29if
34:30miss husband
34:31you see
34:32are you
34:32are you
34:33making
34:33light
34:34of the
34:34fight
34:34you know
34:35cough
34:36you know
34:36don't cough
34:37back
34:37remember
34:38child
34:39how about
34:40we
34:40we
34:41start to hold
34:41parents accountable
34:42for the actions
34:43of their children
34:44how about
34:45we start to go
34:46into the homes
34:47to see
34:47what really
34:48taking place
34:49because you see
34:50what about
34:51when parents
34:51start to see
34:52children
34:52giving trouble
34:53or they're
34:54encouraging them
34:55in the wrong
34:55thing
34:55I have seen
34:56YouTube
34:56where children
34:57doing all sorts
34:58of things
34:58and we're clapping
34:59them
34:59they're cuter
35:00and an uncontrollable
35:02two-year-old
35:02turns into
35:03an uncontrollable
35:04five-year-old
35:04and an uncontrollable
35:05ten-year-old
35:06and we have
35:07seen situations
35:08where eight-year-old
35:09children
35:10imagine your
35:11eight-year-old
35:11daughter coming
35:12into the police
35:12station
35:13because they're
35:13uncontrollable
35:14at eight years
35:18but this is
35:19the reality
35:20no but what
35:21I'm saying
35:21is if you
35:22all have
35:22all this
35:23information
35:24that is
35:25before you
35:25in the
35:26TTPS
35:27and you
35:27all have
35:27the other
35:28agencies
35:28that you
35:29all could
35:29link
35:30we're only
35:30talking
35:30no we
35:31ain't only
35:32talking
35:32that's why
35:33we have
35:33a children
35:34authority
35:34look what
35:34you're saying
35:35you remember
35:35when you
35:36mentioned
35:36because I
35:36know we
35:37have to
35:37go to
35:37break
35:37another
35:37one
35:38jacket
35:38to
35:38get
35:38mad
35:38but I
35:40know
35:40that when
35:41you
35:41on the
35:42show
35:42you
35:42mention
35:42that the
35:43children
35:44who did
35:44not show
35:44up to
35:45school
35:45who
35:45suspended
35:46and they
35:46asked
35:46where
35:46the
35:47parents
35:47where
35:47the
35:47parents
35:48right
35:49or they
35:49could
35:50find
35:50cellphones
35:51when
35:51need
35:51be
35:51when
35:52it's
35:52lost
35:53sure
35:54by
35:54their
35:54homes
35:54because
35:54they
35:55could
35:55find
35:55out
35:55where
35:55they
35:55living
35:56you
35:57could
35:57respond
35:57to
35:57me
35:57when
35:57we
35:58take
35:58that
35:58break
35:582000
35:592000
35:59officers
36:00coming
36:02like
36:02we had
36:03to get
36:03five
36:045000
36:04I
36:04don't
36:05know
36:05about
36:05all
36:05of
36:05that
36:05but
36:06we'll
36:06take
36:06that
36:06we'll
36:07be
36:07back
36:18heart

38:56do, or what we do, or what we do.
38:59That is just a kind of song I can have to.
39:03Minister Auer, Minister Auer, Mr. Hans-Bad, six and seven year old, put me in the dress, old puppy, with
39:14child.
39:15The police are doing nothing, you can't do nothing, with child.
39:22Yes?
39:23As if you are concerned, it's all in some manner.
39:27You can't do nothing with my land, the Lord protects us.
39:33So, see what children have done.
39:36As if you are concerned, all the damage in your property, as if you are concerned,
39:42call me the police, call me the police, call me the police, call me the police, call me the police,
39:45call me the police.
39:45They will call me the doctor to me.
39:48Why call out my son?
39:49Come, come and help me that 20-year-old.
39:52Be quiet.
39:53He's bloody trying, he's bloody trying, he's bloody trying.
39:55Call out my son.
39:57Come, come, come.
39:58And we are doing 20-year-old, my son.
40:01I'm on the subway.
40:02And I call you station.
40:04You have the station.
40:06Talk to the parents.
40:09I call you station.
40:10You have the station.
40:12Blessing.
40:14We need police after what?
40:16After what?
40:17To keep our child.
40:18Child?
40:19It has a child in the neighborhood.
40:21Child?
40:22Not me a child.
40:24Blessing.
40:25Thank you, caller.
40:27Yes, please.
40:28The caller understands the task of the police and it goes back.
40:31And the children understand their rights.
40:32and you know you know these children playing in the neighborhood and you have a parent you home
40:38because if it was the parent car that they were kicking the ball that they would not have like
40:41that because that car is a very expensive investment after a house and you're sitting
40:45down in your house and you're watching your children because you are not the person it's
40:49not your car you don't care and this is what this is the problem children are having this is the
40:54problem it happened to me so i okay it's the next man so i okay and we find it funny
40:59and we laugh
41:00until it happens to you until it happens to you and call i i i understand what he called i
41:08said you
41:09know how much back and all that come out how much things police have to get involved in communities
41:15because i've seen things with children and this one hit that one and this one kick and break that one
41:19glass where the parents are coming out and i know when when when the governments are doing developments
41:25and any private developer you must allocate green space for recreation you must allocate green space
41:33for recreation sometimes there's a park right there and everybody playing the new roadway
41:38but you all won't do nothing no we come out and at the end of the day we come out
41:43to deal with
41:43their parents maybe we need to pass different laws maybe we need to have laws but that makes the that
41:48holds the parents accountable for the actions of their children because if you are training your
41:53children properly then they will learn to respect elders and yes and authority i remember when
41:59you go to school and you see the pledge about respecting your elders not so yes and respecting
42:03authority where has that gone because if at seven and eight years old the children know their rights
42:09the caller is saying he's happy that we need we need the police after all caller let me tell you
42:13something

42:31miss when i can come out of this class i have something to do you know and then you're wondering
42:36when they

46:02and welcome back of course we head back to the full nights at this time caller good evening
46:08hello hello hello good evening good evening good evening caller
46:43yeah
46:44i do not
46:4419, 20, and 21. Now, you can imagine that the two instances are the same components.
46:56So, on your experience, there's no way to go to this. 82-year-olds could enter on control
47:05and a 5-year-old turns out to turn on control for 10-year-olds. Now, on the end, you
47:10have a 15-year-old
47:11who is in the moment, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21. Now, a child is a man. And an
47:19example of this
47:20story. From your mind, from your experience, where did you feel that this is? Why did this
47:2610-year-old is still on control? Why did this 15-year-old not go for a 21? And it's
47:35not
47:35the country that is.
47:36How do you call us? Yes, sir. What's your experience?
47:39Well, in my experience, a 15-year-old is still a child under the law. So, it means if you
47:47have a 15-year-old committing fraud and nothing is being done, or is a good boy and we would
47:54just pay back the person if the people have the funds to pay them back, that is something
47:59that the parents or the relatives or the guardians tolerate and encourage. Because if the child
48:05is committing fraud, 15 is still a child, 16 is still a child, 17 is still a child. So,
48:13we have three consecutive years of continuous law-breaking and fraud activity. Then they should
48:20have gone to the police and reported their child and have the police take the necessary
48:24steps. Of course, they would graduate into big-time fraud because at 18, this is where
48:31they are. So, somewhere along the line, sir, you know, with respect to the parenting and
48:38the upbringing and the morals and the values and the character building and the training,
48:45somewhere, some parent or some guardian dropped the ball. That is just, that is just what it
48:51is, you know, all we're asking. And I'll tell you something, Carla. If parents really take
48:56that interest, and I know it hard, especially when it's that single parent home and you are
49:01the person, you know, they happen to go and look for the dollar. But just sending them to
49:05school and go back and say, go and do your homework. You're not checking to see if the homework
49:09was done or if it was done correctly. And then we had the situations where the parents themselves
49:14are not even bright enough to check the homework of the children. So, it's a societal problem.
49:20And we have to find a way to remedy these things. Otherwise, we'll continue having more
49:25criminals graduate and more criminals graduate. And we have to continue getting more police
49:30and getting more police and getting more crime shows. That's not what we want to go
49:34down. We need to engage in proper rehabilitative measures to avoid recidivism.
49:41Do you think it's just the home, it is what the children are mimicking? It's a reflection
49:47of the parents. That's the reason why a seven to eight-year-old could tell an adult that freely
49:53and openly. And yes, they have access to information. Yeah. Like, now, compared to a
49:59child. And a lot of the times, you know, you come from community where they say, do hit my child.
50:03Yeah. Or, you come from communities where you're watching one neighbor cause the next neighbor
50:08and the neighbor that's doing the costing could be your mother, your father, your uncle, your brother,
50:12your sister. Or they're showing up in front of your house to fight. Or they're showing up in
50:15front of your house to fight. So, when you see that, when that is the behavior of the adults,
50:20who corrects the young ones? Well, we have some information here again that we want the public
50:26to know. And please, with any assistance, please assist us with this. This is from the
50:31Children's Authority. The Children's Authority is asking for assistance from the public to locate
50:37two young ladies. And the one you're seeing is Maya Taylor. She's 15 years old. She was last
50:42seen in the Betham area. And also, 17-year-old Colleen Sylvan. She was last seen in the Point
50:51Fortin area. And we asked anyone with information on these two young ladies, Maya Taylor and Colleen
50:57Sylvan, to please give the information to the authorities at 996 or the police at 999. That is
51:06very important that we could get some sort of information. As I know with Colleen, she has been
51:10missing for a while. And now we are seeing the 15-year-old Maya, who is now missing. So, we're
51:16pleading to the public to assist. We head back to the phone lines. Colleen, good evening.
51:22Colleen. Hi, good evening. This is English Channel. Good evening. Good evening, Colleen.
51:28Good evening, Colleen. Thank you.
51:31I talked earlier, we would respect our matters. And I speak certainly in the lack of officers
51:41there. But I also spoke to your last ASP. And you would have recalled some time ago there
51:50an incident at an establishment where a gentleman bought an item and sort of returned the item.
51:59In the week of the evening, he appears to be a little agitated and he placed what appears
52:06to be a firearm from the contract.
52:09What was the issue already with regards to him getting a full refund for his purchase, right?
52:18Mr. Ben, I would think that it is probably a consumer matter.
52:22I would like to ask you to locate the matter. Of course, though I am retired, I am young
52:28with all around, which I cannot be chairing you. But I could actually ask you to please
52:34locate that matter and let us get down to the bottom of this. Is it legal or illegal for establishment
52:44to take a stock and fee from the contract?
52:53Thank you so much, sir.
52:57I would have to have a conversation with the Bureau of Standards to see what governs that.
53:02In addition to which, I don't know the establishment or where the incident took place. Like you, I only saw
53:08it circulating on the socials as well.
53:12So there are things that I would come here and speak about that I would not know the exact
53:17area or all the information. And I would not want to stand here and form my opinion in the
53:22absence of the facts because of the positions that I hold. I will have to be held. I will be
53:29held accountable
53:30and responsible for my statements. And I don't want to spend any money extra in the courts of law.
53:36However, if I am aware of the business place, the district, I can get in contact with the district
53:43station, see if a report was made and do my own little inquiries and indeed give an update.
53:50Yes.
53:51But I am not in possession of that information at this point in time, sir.
53:57Yes, I hope we can get that information.
53:58But once I get it to the establishment and thing, I would be able to...
54:02Yes, because a lot of businesses are doing that. So that would be really good to help the public.
54:05We have another caller on the line. We have back to the phone lines. Caller, good evening.
54:09Good evening.
54:11Good evening, ma'am.
54:31Bye bye.
54:38Bye bye.
55:08All right, take care and you enjoy your weekend as well.
55:12Kuala, we are human beings, you know. We are human beings and we all want to see a better Trinidad.
55:17At least most of us want to see a better Trinidad. So when I stand before you sometimes and I
55:23hear the cries of the persons, I mean, if I could help everybody that calls the program, I will. That's
55:30what I do. Every number that is left there for me, I call them.
55:37We have to do something to fix it. We have to do something to fix it. Even when officers give
55:43bad service, if I could stand here as a beacon of hope to follow up and say, let me see
55:48how I can assist you.
55:49To bring that trust and confidence back to the police service. Because every organization has their issues. That is what
55:56I'm going to do. Sometimes it really takes a toll on me.
56:00Yes, we are walking around a lot of angry people. Anger and frustration is what is breeding in this country
56:07at this time. And as much as we are trying many persons to subdue the frustration and anger in others,
56:15it is a serious battle.
56:16But we have to continue fighting through. Yes, we have a few seconds. Of course, I give you the opportunity
56:22to close off this week's show.
56:24Well, Mr. Osmond, I thank you for the opportunity. Trinidad, it has been another week has gone. We thank God
56:29for the opportunity to stand before you here today.
56:31But what I'm saying is to you all as we enter into next weekend, I ask that you be safe.
56:37I ask that you be your brother's keeper.
56:39I ask that we take our time on the nation's roadway. It's raining. The rainy season is getting here. It's
56:47closer. We actually entered. However, we haven't seen any large amount of rainfalls.
56:51Make sure your vehicle is roadworthy. Be vigilant. Be careful. Watch the jewelry. Pay attention. Watch the excessive talking on
56:58the cell phone while driving or while crossing the street.
57:01Let me just show that love and respect and care for each other and we will have a better Trinidad
57:05and Tobago.
57:06Yes, very much so. Thank you so much, ASP. We hope that you have a safe weekend as well. We
57:11get news coming up next.
57:13TNT continue being a hard target and we ask let us continue to do better. And let's hear some good
57:19news coming into the new week.
57:20Have a safe and enjoyable weekend. God bless. We're out.
57:47TNT continue being a hard target.
57:53TNT continue being a hard target.
57:54TNT continue being a hard target.
57:54TNT continue being a hard target.
57:54TNT continue being a hard target.
57:55TNT continue being a hard target.
57:55TNT continue being a hard target.
