00:00Hassani Bob of Patience Hill Tobago is dead following a police-involved shooting in that
00:04area on Wednesday night. Hassani's mother, who is pregnant with her sixth child, is denying police
00:11reports and calling for justice. Police say two weapons were recovered from the scene,
00:16one of which was reported stolen from a police officer. More from Elizabeth Williams.
00:21Are you calling for justice in the matter? Yes, I need justice in the sun.
00:29He doesn't deserve this.
00:32Miss Stewart is denying reports her son pointed a weapon at police.
00:37My son is a boy. He ain't got to point at no police to shoot no gun. He'd rather take
00:43the lock up.
00:43He wouldn't shoot back at no police. My son would rather free up himself and let the police
00:48surround himself and let the police lock him up. My son wouldn't point at no police with no gun.
00:54That is just it. He wouldn't point at no police. He'd rather take the lock up.
00:58He does always say, if he had to get lock up, he'd rather take the lock up. I ain't know
01:02him as no bad boy.
01:03Inconsolable since the death of her son, Miss Stewart told the TV6 News police did not have to kill her
01:10son.
01:10I just don't like this killing thing.
01:13All I have to shoot them is shoot them on their foot or something, but don't shoot them to kill
01:16them.
01:17Hassani's sister Kimoi Kelly told the TV6 News the family is seeking answers.
01:22He was in a vehicle with other people. Who were there? I don't know. But where is the other people?
01:28Who was the driver? Where they was? I don't understand. How are he alone pick up bullets?
01:35Where are they getting the gun from? I need answers to them better.
01:39In a statement, the TTPS said it is investigating the fatal police-involved shooting,
01:45which occurred around 8.15 p.m. on Wednesday along Orange Hill Road, Patience Hill.
01:51Officers received a tip and proceeded to the area.
01:54Upon arrival, they observed a white Nissan Tita without registration plates parked along the roadway with Hassani inside.
02:03As the officers approached the vehicle, Hassani allegedly pointed an object resembling a firearm in their direction.
02:09The officers discharged their service-issued firearms in keeping with the TTPS use-of-force policy striking the occupant.
02:18The officers said they approached the injured man to render assistance and observed he had a gun in his hand.
02:26They took away the gun and also realized that he had a SIG saucer pistol bearing TTPS markings fitted with
02:34a magazine concealed in his waistband of his trousers.
02:38The injured man was transported to the Scarborough General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
02:45Investigators say the SIG's saucer pistol was reportedly taken from a police officer during a robbery at Pigeon Point last
02:53week.
02:53No officers were injured during the incident.
02:56Elizabeth Williams, TV6 News.
02:59Director of the Police Complaints Authority, David West, told TV6 News an investigation has been launched into this latest police
03:06shooting.
03:08Definitely, yes, investigation has been launched.
03:12And we're asking for any witnesses, CCTV footage or body-worn camera evidence to come forward to the PCA so
03:23we could independently investigate the matter.
03:25I just hope that with the budget being passed, the TTPS now has the funds to acquire body-worn cameras
03:35for the police officers,
03:39especially the ones on the street, the task force officers and GEB, to be outfitted with body-worn cameras.
03:47And that's the reason, if this was really and about the state for a scene, it was revealed that the
03:48target was short and его suitor vowing and gazogzes.
