00:00Hello there. If you're in need of some warmth, then I've got good news. It is turning much
00:04warmer over the next few days. But before we get there, we do have some further rain
00:08or showers in the forecast, and that's certainly the case out there this evening. Quite a band
00:12of showers pushing north-eastwards across the UK. Still some heavy outbursts in places,
00:16the odd rumble of thunder, particularly across north-east England, eastern parts of Scotland
00:19for a time. And even by the end of the night, there'll still be a scattering of showers,
00:22although it will turn gradually a little bit drier towards the morning. It will stay quite
00:26breezy, particularly up across Shetland and Orkney. Here's some quite strong south-easterly
00:29winds. Another western coast will see a fairly brisk south-westerly wind through the course
00:33of the night. But the winds and the cloud cover mean that it will be a pretty mild night. Look
00:37at these temperatures, staying in double figures across the board pretty much, certainly in
00:41the towns and the cities, and even the countryside, no lower than eight or nine degrees. So it
00:46will be a mild start to the day on Wednesday, but again, quite a lot of cloud around first
00:50thing. Probably not quite as wet though as on Tuesday in general. But nonetheless, there
00:54will be some showers around, perhaps some longer spells of rain at times, moving eastwards
00:58across parts of Scotland. Still the chance of the odd thunderstorm, even a little bit
01:02of hail mixed in with the heaviest showers by the afternoon, but generally not as heavy
01:06or as frequent as they are on Tuesday. The heaviest showers tend to be across more northern
01:10parts of Scotland by the end of the day. And you'll see that on the graphics, a lot
01:14of places actually ending the afternoon with a good deal of dry weather. It should be a
01:18bit brighter as well. So with some sunny spells, it should feel at least a little bit warmer
01:22compared to on Tuesday. But it will still be a little bit breezy, particularly around
01:26some western coasts. Temperatures ranging from anywhere between 13 and 18 degrees Celsius
01:31for most, perhaps locally 20 or 21 degrees though in the very far southeast. So certainly
01:37feeling a little bit more pleasant compared to of late. Into tomorrow evening, well, there
01:42will be one or two showers around for a time, but many places will have a dry interlude as
01:46we go into Wednesday evening. But look at the graphics, we see a band of heavy rain push
01:50its way into Northern Ireland and Western Scotland, affecting some other Irish Sea coastal regions
01:55by the end of Wednesday night as well. So it's only quite wet and breezy here. But once again,
01:59the temperature's not falling away too far at all. So a pretty mild night to come. Lows
02:03of 12 or 13 degrees across many parts of England and Wales, and only a fraction cooler in the
02:08clearest conditions across northern parts of Scotland. So again, another fairly mild but quite
02:13cloudy start today on Thursday. Quite a wet one across Scotland and northern England initially.
02:18Some heavy bursts of rain for a time, but it will tend to turn a little bit drier by the
02:23afternoon. We are importing quite a mild, moist air mass. So there'll be a lot of low cloud
02:27over the hills, some sea mist as well. So some hill fog, some drizzle around, particularly
02:32in northern and western upland regions. So quite a damp day to come for the likes of the Cumbrian
02:37Fells and western Scotland, for example. But notice later in the day, it turns a little bit
02:41brighter. Some sunny spells developing across southern parts of England and Wales. So with the aid of
02:47some sunshine, it will feel quite a bit warmer compared to on Wednesday. Temperatures 20 to 21
02:52degrees quite widely in England and Wales, and a much more humid day even further north. Now when
02:57we compare these temperatures to the temperatures that we're expected to see on Wednesday, well you
03:01can see that generally it's a warmer day across the board. Many places 2 to 4 degrees warmer. So
03:06certainly the first day of this warmer spell. And as we zoom out, have a look at the bigger picture.
03:11We've got high pressure across parts of continental Europe. And as we go through Thursday into Friday,
03:16we are going to start to see it turn even warmer, particularly in the south. And that's shown
03:20quite nicely on these graphics here. Those deeper shades of orange developing quite widely
03:24by Friday and Saturday. Temperatures rising into the mid to perhaps high 20s in eastern and
03:30southeastern parts of England. 28 degrees in the warmest spots perhaps on Friday and indeed
03:35on Saturday. It won't be entirely dry for everyone. There is a chance of some thunderstorms breaking
03:40out on Friday night and into Saturday. But Aidan will have more details on the weekend's weather
03:45in the deep dive available on our YouTube channel at the moment. So by all means go out and check
03:50that out. And I'll have more for you soon. Bye for now.
