00:00Take a look at this. Brooksville, Florida, Hernando County Fire and Rescue sharing this footage.
00:05Another brush fire out there. This one grew to 300 acres. It broke out near Tampa yesterday.
00:10The Florida Forest Service says the blaze has burned more than 300 acres in the Brooksville
00:16community. Good news here, it's about 90% contained. So this fire is just one of more
00:23than 20 active fires burning across parts of Florida. I'm glad they've gained the upper hand
00:27on that one. Once they reach 90% containment, that means they have confidence that 90% of
00:33the perimeter is going to be secure and the fire would not jump that perimeter even if
00:38it got dry and windy and the winds carried it in that direction. So again, they're getting
00:41the upper hand there. Also, we're tracking some thunderstorms into south Florida for Tuesday.
00:47A little more moisture there, but we're dry up near I-10 and up through Georgia and into
00:52the Carolinas again as we kick off Tuesday, the second day of the work week. Eventually,
00:56we will begin to see those storms off to the west knock on the door of the southeast and
01:01return. But for Tuesday, it's still mainly Arkansas. We may see some storms. We will
01:05see some eventually into Nashville. Dallas, hot weather there and some scattered storms
01:10will be rolling in. But we're still dry. Virginia Beach, Charlotte, we need some more
01:14rain in Charleston. Jacksonville, we certainly need more. And we're going to stay dry here
01:18on Wednesday as well. But the storms make a push a little bit farther east, reaching the
01:25middle, Birmingham, and points west at midweek. So here we are, future radar and clouds showing
01:30that we begin the forecast just dry, just dry. High pressure off the Carolina coast. Spotty
01:35storms down into areas around West Palm Beach. And we're going to see some activity Tuesday
01:39afternoon and evening into Nashville, maybe extreme north Georgia, a couple of showers,
01:44probably north of Atlanta. I'd hedge toward a dry forecast in Atlanta until we hit Thursday,
01:48really. Wednesday, most of the action is still north. Western parts of Tennessee, up near Jackson,
01:53Tennessee, areas around Murray, Kentucky, some thunderstorms. But look at this. Here we get
01:58into Wednesday night, Thursday. Atlanta gets into it finally. Birmingham, Montgomery, and
02:02southward into areas around Charleston, even Savannah, Georgia, getting some welcome rain.
02:07Now, when it comes to flooding, the flood threat is greatest for the lower Mississippi Valley down
02:12to the central Gulf Coast states. But generally, the flood risk is going to be not as significant
02:17as it rolls east into the drought-stricken parts of the Carolina. Some severe weather possible
02:21Thursday, eastern Carolinas down to the Gulf Coast. Download the AccuWeather app for the absolute latest.
