00:00Let's take a look at tonight and through the weekend. One big headline this weekend, more drought-denting thunderstorms continuing
00:07in the southeast.
00:08We've seen some pretty good progress. A big winter this month. I don't know if it's necessarily good news, but
00:13Mobile, Alabama, over 16 inches of rain.
00:16Way more than you'd actually hope for. You know, a nice way to get out of a drought, a string
00:19together maybe a few 7-inch months back to back to back.
00:23But the drought-denting rain will continue.
00:25Separate from that conversation, just in the short term, I wanted to acknowledge some thunderstorms that will be developing here
00:30through tonight.
00:31Hail and damaging winds are the main concern in west Texas, southwest Kansas, western parts of Oklahoma, and up against
00:37the state line there, Clovis, New Mexico, into southeast parts of Colorado as well.
00:41So that's a concern in the short term tonight. Some of these storms will be a little more aggressive.
00:45Odessa, even into Wichita, Oklahoma City. Keep an eye out for some of them.
00:49Farther east, patchy fog into Little Rock, Nashville, Jackson, Montgomery, Atlanta.
00:54Showers and thunderstorms will have a few lingering drought-relief-type rain showers there into Tallahassee and Charleston.
01:01And again, a lot of green on the map here in the southeast.
01:04It's been difficult to pinpoint dry opportunities given the current pattern.
01:09And tomorrow, another round of strong storms develops Saturday afternoon and evening.
01:13The greatest risk is going to be up in areas like Rapid City for damaging wind, hail, and isolated tornadoes.
01:19But we also are including a reference to isolated tornadoes here in the southern plains for our Saturday afternoon and
01:26evening thunderstorm event here.
01:28Wind, hail, and isolated tornadoes.
01:30So two separate competing storylines.
01:32That's been kind of the theme here when we look at the southeastern radar future simulation.
01:37We've got the drought relief here for many from north Florida, south Georgia, up into Arkansas and Missouri.
01:42And then a separate regime here with some intense, strong, and severe thunderstorms in the southern plains on Saturday.
01:49Sunday, it does focus a little farther east.
01:51The severe risk here to the south lowers, still present up in the northern plains, but in areas like western
01:57Tennessee down into Florida.
01:59More drought relief, more thunderstorms plowing on through the Mobile area, ending a very wet month,
02:04and then kicking off the new month of June with some additional drought relief to the close of May.
02:09More showers and thunderstorms, fewer severe threats on Sunday farther west.
02:14We expect to be a little drier out there in parts of Oklahoma for the most part.
02:17But we're wrapping up a Thursday through Saturday window with two to four inches of drought-relieving rain.
02:23And there may be more coming, by the way.
02:25Looking into the tropics, stick around in our forecast feed.
02:28We're going to be looking at this here, gradual northward surge of moisture here into the Gulf.
02:34And, again, there is a little uncertainty if this is going to be targeting north Florida, the Panhandle,
02:41or maybe a little farther west as we look deeper into the envelope of early June.
02:47No urgent threats out there, but some low risks for tropical rain and wind on the horizon.
02:52So, first up, we get into the Gulf.
