00:00This is the view coming in from Nebraska as we are still tracking some severe storms there this evening.
00:07Our own meteorologist Tony Lombach capturing these views of the heavy rain and anticipating it could be a day where
00:13you may, may have the chance at spotting a tornado through Nebraska.
00:18Let's go to Madison, Indiana for our top story and show you what's going on here because guess what?
00:23We have the chance for getting some rain towards the end of the weekend, but overall not too active right
00:30now as we talk about things.
00:32That view courtesy of Earth Cam shows us it's a bright blue sky.
00:36There has been at times some wildfire smoke haze coming into the Midwest.
00:41It's not been overly prominent though.
00:43Most of that has broken up north towards Canada.
00:45So we are kind of getting a little bit of a reprieve in cities like Chicago, for example, throughout much
00:51of the state of Indiana.
00:52As you just saw farther to the west, the showers, the thunderstorms here still found and they are starting to
00:58make their way towards the I-29 corridor, which kind of runs its way off towards the eastern edges of
01:04North and South Dakota.
01:05So what you'll find here are those showers and thunderstorms as they continue to push east.
01:09They will be strong to severe and we are already watching some stronger thunderstorms here right into northern Nebraska and
01:18southern South Dakota.
01:19So these are the ones that Tony's been following.
01:21You can see a lot of lightning with them developing, a lot of heavy rainfall, and of course there's going
01:26to be some gusty winds.
01:27So we'll watch for more warnings to develop with these thunderstorms as we go through the upcoming hours.
01:32You'll see those similar sights that we've had this week already through parts of the north central U.S.
01:38The severe weather pattern does allow for a severe thunderstorm watch.
01:42That's going to be unfolding right now across South Dakota and northern Nebraska.
01:45It lasts until 8 o'clock mountain time, 9 o'clock central time, and we will probably see more watches
01:52develop farther east too as we go through the night.
01:54Here is the risk from AccuWeather, highlighting that moderate risk of severe weather right along the I-29 corridor.
02:01As I told you, Fargo right down towards Sioux Falls and far southeastern South Dakota.
02:05These thunderstorms can bring hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding.
02:12We could have a few tornadoes in the mix, but by far more of the reports will be hail and
02:16damaging winds as well as that potential for flooding.
02:19You saw how slow moving some of those thunderstorms were.
02:21Tomorrow, I told you about that target zone here of the clouds and the showers and the rainfall keeping things
02:28at least a little bit cooler so the temperatures back into the 70s.
02:32It's not until you get south of that that you'll find Kansas City towards 90 degrees.
02:36Where you have some of those thunderstorms to the south, Des Moines, Kansas City, that's where you do have the
02:41potential for some severe weather.
02:43And part of that is there's just more moisture to pull from in some of these spots as we watch
02:48these storms slide through, not only throughout Friday, but then as we go into Saturday, there's just going to be
02:53a lot of moisture getting wrapped up into the Great Lakes.
02:55So it's going to keep the threat for clouds, rainfall, showers, and thunderstorms.
03:00Saturday, you'll highlight here Chicago, 75 for that high, thunderstorms possible.
03:05Probably less of a severe weather threat here farther off towards the west.
03:09We have more of that heat rebuilding, but it is Friday's risk for severe weather that we're keying in on
03:15from Missouri right down to northern Arkansas.
03:18Some of those storms could be strong, severe with hail and damaging winds yet again.
