Rajkot (Gujarat): A shocking case of animal cruelty has surfaced from Rajkot, where a dog was allegedly brutally beaten by two men, triggering widespread outrage after CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media.

The incident reportedly took place near Madhapar Chokdi and Kalyan Park area on Friday. In the footage, the dog is seen tied outside a house while two men mercilessly thrash it with sticks and pipes. Reports claim the animal was struck nearly 26 times within seconds, leaving it severely injured.

According to local sources, the accused have been identified as a father-son duo. The dog, which had reportedly been cared for by a local resident for over two years, was tied near the house when the attack took place. It is alleged that the men were angered by the dog’s barking.

During the assault, two women rushed to the spot and attempted to intervene, trying to snatch the sticks from the attackers, after which the assault stopped. The dog was later seen lying injured on the ground.

Following the incident, a complaint was filed, and an FIR has been registered at the concerned police station. The injured dog is currently under treatment and is said to be in stable condition.

The video has sparked massive outrage online, with citizens and animal welfare groups demanding strict action against the accused. Actor and former MP Mimi Chakraborty also reacted strongly, expressing anguish over the incident and calling for accountability.

Authorities have initiated an investigation, and further action is expected based on the findings.
