Bengaluru (Karnataka): A shocking case of animal cruelty has come to light from the KR Puram area, where a street dog was allegedly attacked with a machete in broad daylight, triggering widespread outrage after CCTV footage surfaced online.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 8:30 am on Saturday within the limits of KR Puram police station. A tender coconut vendor is alleged to have attacked the stray dog with a machete in full public view.

Preliminary information suggests that the accused claimed the dog was causing disturbances in the area. The animal was reportedly associated with a senior citizen in the locality. Acting in anger, the vendor allegedly assaulted the dog, inflicting a deep wound on its back.

Following the incident, local residents intervened and rescued the injured dog, which is currently undergoing treatment. Veterinarians have confirmed that the animal sustained serious injuries and remains in pain.

Based on a complaint filed by a resident, an FIR has been registered at KR Puram Police Station. Police have launched an investigation, are examining CCTV footage, and are working to trace and arrest the accuse.

The incident has drawn strong condemnation from residents and animal welfare groups, who have demanded strict action against those responsible.
