01:05You've heard the writers talk about the conditions.
01:08Now we're going to get to see it for real.
01:10Race 2 here in Cleveland.
01:112.50 East is away.
01:13Thrasher another good start.
01:14Gordon a terrific start.
01:16As they slip and slide their way through turn 1.
01:20Oh, Cole Davies goes down.
01:22Him and Nate, like a couple of them.
01:24He's actually back up.
01:25Oh, Drew Adams.
01:27Drew Adams.
01:28He goes down.
01:29And it's a Devin Simonson.
01:31Oh, man.
01:32Fresh from his first podium, career podium last weekend, to hitting the deck here in Cleveland.
01:37I tell you who this is a blessing for is Nate Thrasher right there, our leader, number 25.
01:43And then Seth Hammacher.
01:46Hammacher in the fourth position right now.
01:48This is huge.
01:50Yeah, this is huge.
01:51And that stuff, I was watching it in that first corner.
01:53Him and Cole Davies got tangled.
01:55And Cole got the end of the stick.
01:56Nate did it.
01:57I mean, Seth did a great job of staying up.
01:59But, oh, this is going to be horrible for Drew Adams.
02:04He's just coming back from an injury.
02:08Hopefully he will be okay.
02:09And it's nothing too serious.
02:13Let's have a look at what happened to Devin Simonson and Drew Adams.
02:18Oh, watch bike 35.
02:20Right in the middle there.
02:21He goes down.
02:22Oh, what you see is Cole Davies actually landing on him right there.
02:26And I think he did that because Seth was on the inside of him.
02:29Cole went for it and Drew got the worst end of that.
02:32Nick Romano did a good job to pull his bike up in time.
02:35Meanwhile, Cody Shock on board the 22 is out after race leader Nate Thrasher.
02:40You may remember earlier, Thrasher led the majority of the early laps in race one.
02:49Yeah, perfect scenario where Nate, he's out front.
02:51You can look at these guys' number plates and just see anyone outside the leader
02:55with a lot of mud on there.
02:56So Nate's in a good spot.
02:58So is Seth.
03:00Remember third position right now.
03:03This is going.
03:05Oh, we've got a red flag.
03:06There's a red flag.
03:07Clearly indicating that somebody needs more medical attention
03:13and they need access to the track as well.
03:19So there were multiple riders down on the opening lap in these very challenging conditions.
03:25And Nate Thrasher is going to be like, oh, no.
03:29Yeah, tough break for these guys.
03:31But when you see that red flag, I mean, all these riders know they something.
03:35One of our fellow riders are down.
03:37So safety first.
03:39We'll re-rack them.
03:40You've got to feel for the 18-year-old Drew Adams.
03:44Big time, man.
03:45As Ricky said, just coming back from injury earlier this season.
03:50This is a blessing for Cole Davies because he was buried in the pack.
03:55He's going to get a fresh chance at a reset on this restart.
04:03But the Alpinestart medical team with and taking care of Drew Adams.
04:13All right, fellas.
04:14What were your initial assessments of the track?
04:17We only got to see a couple of laps, but what did you make of it?
04:20Yeah, a lot different than what it was earlier.
04:22I mean, right now, these guys just got to refocus and try to, you know,
04:26get back in the mental side and get off this gate.
04:28That's going to be the most important thing at this moment.
04:30They need their respective gate spots, and we get ready for a restart.
04:41Yeah, it's not necessarily a favor, but an education piece probably for Cole there.
04:44Once you leave the floor of the stadium, you cannot return to the racetrack.
04:48So that actually would have been a disqualification if he would have left the stadium floor.
04:51Yeah, after the race started there.
04:54James, he should buy her dinner.
04:57Multiple.
04:58I mean, can you imagine a championship standpoint?
05:01But, yeah, so, Mike, where are we at on the weather and kind of this whole situation with the restart?
05:06Yeah, we're doing a full restart.
05:07The leaders had only completed two laps.
05:09So every rider has returned to the original gate.
05:11So we're going to start this for a full, complete restart.
05:14Yeah, the weather is subsiding a little bit.
05:16We're keeping on the radar here.
05:18The track is taking it, but we're keeping on the best we can as we get this one going again.
05:22And, Mike, for the red flag, what was the specific reason for the red flag because you couldn't get Drew
05:29off safely?
05:30It was from the assessment from medical as well as the location he was in.
05:34It was best to go to a red to tend to Drew.
05:36Tremendous.
05:37Thanks always, Mike, as always, for your time.
05:39We know how busy you are, especially with so many moving targets today.
05:45Pretty crazy with this weather.
05:47Well, I can tell you these metal grates, James, they are going to be slick.
05:52It's going to be interesting to see which riders are going to be able to have that throttle control.
05:57Yeah.
05:58No, I agree.
05:59And just on the Cole Davies point really quick, I wonder, was he trying to go up to get his
06:03second bike?
06:04Maybe there's something bent on his motorcycle that's maybe why he wanted to do it.
06:07So keep an eye on that.
06:08You are allowed to go to a backup bike.
06:11He's not allowed to leave the venue once the race starts.
06:14Once the race has started.
06:15The race had already started, even though it was a red-black situation.
06:20He wouldn't have been allowed to grab his other bike in this circumstance because the race had already started.
06:26Yeah, right.
06:26Once the 32nd board is displayed.
06:28That's right.
06:29That's right.
06:29So, yeah.
06:31All right.
06:31Well, at least these riders have some indication of what the conditions are like.
06:37James, I think it's, like, really slick.
06:39The dirt isn't very heavy.
06:41So it's going to be hard for these guys to get stopped, I believe.
06:44All right.
06:44Ready to go.
06:46Let's take two.
06:47Race two.
06:49250 East Division in very sloppy conditions here in Cleveland.
06:54On the inside is Landon Gordon.
06:57Nate Thrasher.
06:58Cody Schopper.
06:59Was that Simonson?
07:00All Yamahas up front getting away to a really great start.
07:04Oh, what a start, James, for the rookie.
07:06Landon Gordon, again, coming off that fourth-place finish.
07:11Yeah, I mean, he knew.
07:13Nate's in a great spot as well.
07:15Obviously, Cole Davies got a lot better start.
07:17I'm interested to see what Seth does in his early laps as we're watching Nate makes the pass on his,
07:21or try to make a pass on his teammate.
07:23And does.
07:24Goes that high line.
07:25Nate Thrasher in front again.
07:26Landon Gordon, valuable experience in just his second weekend as a pro.
07:32Well, these guys practice together during the week, so it's like a day at the goat farm.
07:39This, I think, if I was a rookie, this would make me comfortable, and I would probably be able to
07:44ride to my full potential riding with a guy that I practice with during the week.
07:48A lot of similarities there.
07:50Yeah, he should feel really comfortable, because in the third spot, you got his teammate, Cole Davies, made two passes
07:56to put a little bit of distance between him and Seth Handmaker.
07:58So, great move by him.
08:00Seth has got to pick up the pace.
08:02Well, the fortunes have swung, haven't they, because Handmaker was ahead of Davies, his championship rival, in the first iteration
08:10of this.
08:11Davies was buried in 12th position.
08:13Now, Cole runs in third.
08:15Watch you guys to take a look at the different lines.
08:17And there you go.
08:19Cole Davies trying to get by his teammate, but slips up in the whoops.
08:22He'll be on the inside.
08:24Way to defend the position by Landon Gordon.
08:27But watch on these 90-degree corners, some of those riders are going all the way to the outside, because
08:32those insides are getting pretty greasy and slick.
08:35Yeah, absolutely.
08:35They're trying to do that, as you said, to find that traction.
08:38Otherwise, you'll be doing, sliding into the guy up front of you.
08:41So, it'll be interesting to watch how this race plays out.
08:44It should get better, but right now, these guys are going to be very careful.
08:47Oh, did Devin Simonson go down there?
08:48That front end was tucking.
08:50No, he's managed to hang on to it.
08:52He held on to it.
08:53So, and also, talking about the favors swinging the right way, like, Devin Simonson was way back in the first
09:02generation.
09:02That's what I was going to say.
09:03So, he was down with Drew Adams, and so was Cole, right?
09:07Cole went down, and they're up front.
09:09They're in front of Hammacher now.
09:11Behind Simonson, Hammacher, then Derek Kelly, Daxton Benick, Nick Romano, Cody Schock, and Isaiah Clark, who had to go via
09:18the last chance qualifier.
09:20Isaiah's doing well in the top ten.
09:21And, like, he almost missed his break right there.
09:24He kind of stalled up in that corner.
09:25Right.
09:26Man, look at Hammacher starting to close some ground right here, and they're making up time on Cole Davies.
09:32Now, if you're Cole, though, you can also, you know, you have a decent points lead in the championship.
09:38Ooh, almost pushes the front end right there.
09:40So, he's got some points to give here.
09:42Yeah, no, he does.
09:43But, to me, something looks a little off on him as he makes it.
09:46Whoa, whoa, whoa.
09:46Well, you said maybe his bike was messed up.
09:49You made that point.
09:50Here comes Hammacher.
09:52Hammacher's by Simonson.
09:53And he's got his eyes and sights set on championship rival Cole Davies, who just had a hiccup.
09:58Now, Seth understands Cole's probably not a Cole Davies 100%, so you wonder if he's going to try to make
10:05that aggressive pass,
10:06at least try to get in there and start him a little bit.
10:08He's made that time.
10:09Normally, Cole would be getting away, but great opportunity for this, Seth, to maybe make some points of this.
10:15Cole looked like he was off the corner as well.
10:17He was.
10:18He was all the way at the top in the berm.
10:20Top of the berm started to give way.
10:22Looked like he was in full lock, steering lock.
10:25If you were to compare the two, Hammacher looks like he feels these conditions a little bit better.
10:30Yeah, Cole, there's definitely something wrong with him, because this interspeed going into the corners isn't almost like he doesn't
10:36have a front brake.
10:37Seth slides up the inside.
10:39You saw that door was wide open.
10:42Well, he has to make those kind of moves.
10:45It's for a championship, and this is going to be a pivotal round in the whole scheme of this 2026
10:53-250 East Division title race.
10:56Yeah, and even just for the overall here this afternoon alone, this is important.
11:01I mean, you definitely don't want to let Simonson get by.
11:03Now, if Simonson does get by, he'll have some space to work with.
11:08There's been X a ways back.
11:10You can see right there.
11:14Wow, this track is really, really slick.
11:16But the good thing about it, James, I believe, at least it's raceable, and the mud isn't super heavy.
11:22So they're able to move around a fair bit.
11:25Yeah, I mean, the most difficult part right now is just vision.
11:28And when you get around these other guys trying to make passes, as you can see, they're kind of following
11:32in one line right here.
11:33So I don't think the track itself is too difficult.
11:36It's just when you get close and you're just keeping that vision clean.
11:40Div, I think we'll see some car.
11:43We're going to use some car racing service slide jobs from some of these riders making passes,
11:48coming up the 90-degree corners, sliding into the riders on the outside.
11:58Devin Simonson runs fifth at the moment, two positions behind this man we're looking at here.
12:02I want to remind you what happened last weekend in Nashville, Tennessee.
12:07Pardon me, just one position behind Cole Davies.
12:09This is Devin, after the fact, after the podium, after everything was done, receiving the guitar,
12:16which was the trophy for the Nashville round.
12:18And then when he got back to Club MX, his teammates, and including Chad Reed,
12:24they got some champagne out for the young man for his first ever career podium.
12:29That was really good stuff.
12:30Now, look, it came through a kind of a quirky way.
12:33It was through Hammocker getting penalized because not only did Seth cut the track,
12:37he gained an advantage and passed.
12:39He went ahead of Devin.
12:41And then, so he ended up losing not one but two positions,
12:44and that elevated Simonson to the podium.
12:47You've got to be in the right spot to be advantageous sometimes,
12:50so we congratulate him because podium or not, he has been riding.
12:54He's having a career year.
12:56Yeah, no, absolutely, Lee, and as a kid, I know how many times I used to do that,
13:00watching Jared McGrath, Ricky Carmichael on the TV, just popping a water bottle.
13:05So, sure, it was different for him, but at the same time, great feeling.
13:08Congratulations, Devin, on that one.
13:10Yeah, he keeps riding this way, James.
13:12I mean, he's going to earn it the way that he wants to earn it, for sure,
13:17and he's going to have many more opportunities to spray the champagne.
13:21100%.
13:21Very incredible season for this young man.
13:24It's been a lot of fun to watch, and I go back to the guy that I used to lose
13:29sleep over
13:29and with a tough competitor.
13:31You just have to think he's learned so much from Chad.
13:34So, I can tell you just by looking out of our booth that the rain is easing up.
13:41You're starting to see, actually, where they're penetrating through the surface.
13:44In parts, you're seeing some dryness on the track on certain lines.
13:49Meanwhile, Nate Thrasher leads the way.
13:52Gordon is second, and Cole Davies is turning up the heat on third place, Seth Hamaker.
13:59Now, what happened?
14:00Seth must have made a huge mistake because he was the fastest guy on the track.
14:04The previous lap had a 50, and now he ran a 55, which allowed Cole to get back up there.
14:09But starting to see, starting to look back, he's probably anticipating Cole's going to do what he did,
14:14make an aggressive pass.
14:15But I feel like Cole's in that spot now.
14:18Oh, Hamaker lost his rhythm.
14:19He did.
14:20He got wheels spin up the face of that jump, and that's what you're going to see a lot from
14:24these riders right now.
14:25The wheel is going to start spinning.
14:27They're not going to get the drive that they were anticipating to get on the takeoffs of these jumps.
14:33High risk.
14:34Yeah, but all of that was caused.
14:36He was more worried about what Cole was doing and what Cole might do to him as he makes another
14:40mistake.
14:41Yeah, cross ruts right there.
14:42Started racing behind him instead of in front of him.
14:46Two minutes plus a lap remain in this second 250 East Division race on a Triple Crown afternoon.
14:54Nice recovery by Cole.
14:55To me, it looks like you, whatever was going on, he learned how to race him behind him instead of
15:01in front of him.
15:02Two minutes plus a lap remain in this second 250 East Division race on a Triple Crown afternoon.
15:10Nice recovery by Cole.
15:12To me, it looks like you, whatever was going on, he learned how to race him behind him instead of
15:25in front of him.
15:25What do you think, Ricky, at this time, you start kind of finding a rhythm.
15:30Yeah, like I think, I believe and agree with everything that you said as far as, you know,
15:35he probably learned if this bike is banged up from the first start before the red flag,
15:41he probably took him a couple laps to get used to it.
15:44Here's a great story.
15:46Here's Derek Kelly.
15:47He's in a tie for 10th coming into this round in points with Nick Romano.
15:52And this is the MX-6 team, originally born out of Poughkeepsie, New York, now based in California.
16:02Ollie Stone is the team manager, former Pro Circuit Kawasaki team member.
16:08And in their first year, coming into this round of the championship,
16:14they had two of their riders in the top 10 in points.
16:17That's outstanding.
16:18Well, and really, when you think about Ollie and his experience working for Mitch Payton for so long,
16:25the wealth of knowledge that he learned, then he moved,
16:27and he was Austin Borkner's mechanic for a long time.
16:31And then he moved over to the Gas Gas, Charlie Dice, Red Bull race team
16:37and had a big roll over there, and then he moved over to run this race team.
16:41So, really, no surprise when you think about it.
16:43They're doing a great job, like you said, Diff.
16:45All right, Stu, look out.
16:47Here comes Seth Hamaker.
16:48He is not afraid to take the fight to the championship leader.
16:52Whatever happened two laps ago, he's been able to reset, regroup, and take third place back.
16:58Yeah, I mean, again, I think a lot of that was just because he was looking back,
17:02and Cole didn't seem like he picked up the pace,
17:04but what happened was Seth probably got that pit board and knew he needed to make that pass,
17:09and he did.
17:10I don't think Cole, at this point, is going to really fight him too much.
17:13He understands that.
17:14It's a long game.
17:14He's got a nice point.
17:16Yeah, and he does.
17:17He's got...
17:17If the race stopped right now, he's still got a 14-point lead.
17:21So, you know, he doesn't need to panic at this stage.
17:25This is confidence-boosting stuff, though, for Seth Hamaker.
17:29It is.
17:29He's doing what he has to do.
17:32What he has to do.
17:32Finish ahead of Cole Davies, making solid passes on Davies.
17:36And I believe Cole knows, as we're watching now, Nate.
17:39Cole knows the only way he's probably going to lose is he's going to have to make an aggressive pass.
17:43Seth, that is.
17:44So, kind of anticipated that possibly happening.
17:47Yeah, you get to kind of desperation mode.
17:50Have we forgotten about the race leader?
17:52Here he is.
17:54Nate Thrasher, doing an awesome job.
17:56And, James, we've talked about it a lot.
17:59Like, you talk about the potential that a guy has in Nate Thrasher.
18:03Checkered flag.
18:05Yes, says Nate Thrasher.
18:08Oh.
18:09And how about this guy?
18:11Second weekend as a pro.
18:13Landon Gordon finishes second to his teammate.
18:16Phenomenal result.
18:17After last weekend crashing, damaging the front wheel,
18:22couldn't finish the main event in Nashville on his debut.
18:25Well, you're now going to stand on a podium.
18:28Well done.
18:29And Seth Hammacher was able to hold off the points leader, Cole Davies, for third.
18:34It's going to be a really good battle for that overall position in race number three
18:39between Thrasher and Hammacher.
18:41Only one point separates those.
18:44So, basically, whoever beats the person is going to win the overall, most likely.
18:50So, that's going to be a lot of fun to watch.
18:52And, Gordon, sitting third overall right now as it stands.
18:55And, man, that would be awesome for his, like, first race that he finishes.
19:00Going to get on a podium opportunity.
19:02That's cool.
19:05Nice to see that checkered flag first.
19:07We'll hear Nate Thrasher's thoughts on that in just a moment.
