00:00C'est une dynamique graphique avec les 3 en la championnatisation et le rise et fall
00:05de leur respective positions en la championnatisation
00:08en cours de la scopie de la season thus far.
00:12Look at that, sharing la top spot,
00:14going à la top et le match-to-back wins
00:16a Ken Roxen, juste 5 points back
00:19de la tie à la top de la championnatisation
00:22entre Eli Tomac et Lawrence.
00:24C'est comme si l'honneur d'une histoire de ce sport
00:28après 12 rounds.
00:30We couldn't ask for it to be any better.
00:31Yeah, we could, and all these guys want to win
00:34for different reasons.
00:35You know, they're going out there the same goal,
00:37but, you know, I think it's very important for all of them.
00:39This guy on the screen, he's got the red plate,
00:42but he needs to get back to where he believes,
00:45and, you know, so far he's been looking great all day long.
00:48He's going to have his hands full today.
00:50Well, defending Monster Energy Supercross champ Cooper Webb.
00:54I mean, listen, I go back.
00:56He was in Ken Roxen's spot two weeks ago, like right now,
01:00so you think if he could get two in a row,
01:02the guy is capable of it.
01:04His championship hopes could look a lot different.
01:06Still mathematically in this game,
01:09and, man, what a way it would be for him
01:11to come out here and possibly get a win.
01:12Got to get back on the podium.
01:14He hasn't been on the podium the last three races,
01:17Cooper Webb, so he needs two.
01:19Chase Sexton had that really hard impact last weekend
01:23in St. Louis and could not finish the race.
01:26Had a little fall earlier today as well.
01:29He was able to bounce back up,
01:30but he was frustrated and mad at himself.
01:33It was an unforced error,
01:34so we'll see if he can get the day off to the right start here.
01:384.50, heat one in Nashville.
01:40Let's go.
01:43Great start.
01:43Justin Cooper, look at that.
01:45The 32 out in front.
01:47We've got two riders down at the back.
01:49Hunter Lawrence slots in the second.
01:51Yeah, Justin Cooper's always been a great starter,
01:53so has Hunter Lawrence,
01:54but as today goes on,
01:56you're going to watch these guys,
01:58that first corner, get really slippery.
02:00Wow.
02:01Did you see Justin Cooper jumping through the whoops?
02:03Haven't seen many people do that all day long,
02:05and he just comes out,
02:07firing the first lap of the heat race.
02:09That is going to be a really good line later on in event time
02:14as those whoops become more challenging,
02:17cupped out, dry, and slick.
02:19I feel like Justin's been brought really good all year,
02:21but ever since that,
02:22he got that win over Eli and that triple crown.
02:25I believe it was at Indy.
02:26It's been a different rider so far.
02:29It really feels like he can win these things.
02:31And you think about it.
02:32You talk about the SMX playoffs, okay?
02:34Justin Cooper, he came into the playoffs last year
02:38as the number one seed
02:39and throughout his career,
02:40he continues to get better
02:42as the series goes on,
02:44so no surprise.
02:45Bottom box,
02:47the fourth,
02:48Monster Energy Kawasaki of Chase Sexton.
02:50He didn't fall.
02:51He just got a shocker of a start
02:53and is having to work his way through this field.
02:56Yeah, it's been a struggle so far this year
02:59for number four Kawasaki,
03:01Monster Energy Kawasaki Chase Sexton.
03:02We know how fast he's always been his whole career,
03:04but I think he's really fighting
03:06the inner demons right now.
03:08You know, just the mental battles.
03:10It's a different spot
03:11that he's been in in his career
03:12and it's going to take a lot to get out of it.
03:14This bad start today is not a good one either.
03:17I want to give a shout out to his teammate
03:18who just got overtaken by Cooper Webb.
03:20That was a terrific start by Garrett Marchbanks.
03:23And he was running third
03:24until Webb snatched that away from him.
03:26Now he's going to try and hang on to fourth spot here
03:28ahead of Joey Savace.
03:34First full-time year on a 450 for Marchbanks.
03:37And with each and every round that goes by,
03:40RC, he's looking more and more comfortable.
03:42Well, he is.
03:42And he's been able to put repetitive laps in
03:45throughout the year,
03:45working closely with that race team
03:48at the Monster Energy Kawasaki Factory Racing Team.
03:51And it's great to see his progression.
03:53and you can see the confidence building
03:55each and every week.
03:59This is the fight for getting into ninth place.
04:02Shane McElrath on the 12 on the inside line.
04:05Vince Friese ahead of the four of Chase Sexton.
04:09So they're scrapping it out.
04:10And Chase has got to get by at least one of these guys
04:12to transfer straight through to the main event.
04:14And James, when I watch the number four
04:16of Chase Sexton right here,
04:17it just seems like that urgency
04:20isn't there at the moment.
04:21I know it's congested right now.
04:24It's early in this heat,
04:25but definitely doesn't look like he's taking chances.
04:28No, you're 100% right.
04:29And yeah, I was going to say that as well.
04:31You can tell by he's just standing up in the corners.
04:33And like you said,
04:34there's a lot of traffic in front of him,
04:36but Chase could make some of these passes
04:38if he wanted to.
04:39You can just tell he's not.
04:40Something's going on.
04:41I don't think we'll have a problem with getting qualified,
04:43but the number four doesn't look normal to me.
04:48Cole Thompson's doing a nice job just behind
04:51Dylan Ferrandes,
04:52and they're ahead of these guys here.
04:53That's Vince Friese on the 719.
04:56As he goes through the sand,
04:57there's Cole Thompson on the 66.
05:00He's in an immediate transfer position.
05:02Always a bonus for these guys
05:04when you don't have to go through
05:05to the last chance qualifier.
05:07This would be huge.
05:11One mistake out there.
05:13Should have McElrath.
05:15There we go.
05:17So Chase Sexton gets Shane McElrath,
05:19so now finally moves up into the top nine.
05:24Oh, wow!
05:25Big jump there from Thompson,
05:26and he goes over the back of the berm.
05:28Yeah, yeah.
05:30Saw a couple guys do that earlier.
05:32They try to get on that rhythm.
05:34If they get it off,
05:36that 90-degree corner comes out so quickly,
05:39and being slippery with these rocks,
05:41just have a hard time getting it stopped.
05:43Meanwhile, let's go back up front,
05:45and something has clicked
05:46late in this Supercross season
05:48for Justin Cooper.
05:50Because last week, JT, on the podium,
05:55he's just kind of found a new rhythm,
05:57and he's headed towards his fourth career heat win,
06:02if he can keep it here.
06:05Yeah, he looks pretty good.
06:07JT.
06:08Yeah, just watching, J. Cooper,
06:09you're so right there, Lee,
06:11and I'll tell you what's really important
06:12about this particular heat race.
06:14Justin Cooper wants to jump the boots.
06:16That is his preferred method through them,
06:18but typically, he needs to wait
06:19until later in the program,
06:21and that main event for it to be effective,
06:23for it to be this dynamic,
06:25this early, bodes really well
06:27because typically,
06:28the boots are going to deteriorate,
06:30and blitzing will become slower
06:32to be effective here.
06:34If he gets a start in the main event, guys,
06:36this may be the chance for him to get that win.
06:47Guys, Hunter Lawrence in second right now
06:50in this situation.
06:50We saw that awesome graphic,
06:52the bike graphic that we showed,
06:53that kind of dip that we saw out of Hunter,
06:55that was at the Detroit ground up
06:56after a huge crash at the end of the whoops
06:58that lost him a lot of points.
07:00Well, leading into the next round,
07:02that was last weekend in St. Louis,
07:04we did find out after the fact
07:06that he had a sore wrist from that.
07:08He told me that he was kind of trying to ride through it
07:10the week leading up to it,
07:12but he did finish third on the podium
07:14and said afterwards, no, it was a problem.
07:15So I checked in today, see how that was.
07:17He didn't ride barely at all this week.
07:19He said it's time to rest.
07:20He was getting therapy from Doc G,
07:21his physiotherapist there and said this week,
07:24honestly, he's barely even noticing it.
07:26I did see it taped up,
07:27but a big improvement for Hunter Lawrence.
07:28Oh, you can see some urgency right there
07:30with Hunter Lawrence,
07:31but I want to point out,
07:32this is a type of track,
07:34and James was talking about it a few laps ago.
07:37He talked about how slick those 90-degree corners is.
07:39This is a track that's going to be difficult
07:41to make up time.
07:42Why?
07:43Because of those slick conditions.
07:44It's very marble-y and slick,
07:47and when you apply that pressure,
07:48you're going to break that back end loose.
07:50You're going to start to spin,
07:51and you're not going to get the forward motion
07:54that you need to possibly make up time.
07:56So when you make a pass,
07:58it's going to have to be planned out
08:00and it's going to have to be done with precision.
08:05In the closing laps of this first 450 heat,
08:10does Justin Cooper get back-to-back heat wins
08:13in successive weeks?
08:14We'll see.
08:15Big launch into the sand section.
08:17Oh, right it down.
08:20They'll see the white flag next time,
08:22signifying one lap to go.
08:24Watching this track here, James.
08:26It's looking like it's going to be fairly difficult
08:29to pass on with these 90s,
08:31and like we talked about,
08:32like how you mentioned,
08:33how slick it is as well.
08:34Yeah, no, I agree,
08:35and I think what you're going to have to do,
08:36you just have to be patient,
08:38get up on that guy,
08:39and when you get close to him,
08:40kind of make an aggressive pass
08:42like what we saw with Seth.
08:43Fair but aggressive,
08:44and try to hold these guys off
08:46because even with the whoop section,
08:47I don't think Blixen is really going to help these guys enough to deny.
08:51And again, like you talked about,
08:54be right on that rider in front of you,
08:55and when it's time,
08:57you make the move.
08:58What you can't do is make a failed attempt.
09:00Correct.
09:01Because when you do that,
09:02you lose so much more time.
09:04this has been a terrific ride
09:07to start this Nashville weekend
09:10for Justin Cooper
09:12aboard the Monster Energy Star Yamaha.
09:14There's been a rapid increase
09:17in the confidence level,
09:19the comfort level,
09:19and look at this for conviction.
09:22Heat win,
09:23second in a row in two weeks
09:24for Justin Cooper.
09:26That first career main event win
09:29may be getting closer than we think.
09:31I was just thinking
09:32while you said that,
09:33we might see something special here tonight
09:34in the main event today.
09:38Hunter Lawrence
09:39continues his amazing consistency.
09:41Seat.
