00:00C'est parti pour cette 2.50 East division main event
00:03dans l'Université de Nashville, Tennessee.
00:12Le délai est terminé.
00:14Le wait est terminé.
00:16Let's get ready to go.
00:28on a side-by-side,
00:30top 2 in the championship.
00:32You can see a little bit in Cole Davies' rut.
00:35He has a little bit of a deeper rut,
00:37but it's a very straight rut,
00:38which you kind of always look at,
00:40see if it has a hole,
00:43if how vicious the upcoming is on it as well.
00:45So it looks pretty flat.
00:47There's Hunter,
00:48probably drinking a smoothie or a tea.
00:51Or coffee.
00:51He loves coffee at this time as well.
00:53So he's probably drinking coffee,
00:55trying to stay awake.
00:56It's such a long day.
00:57By his own words,
00:59Cole Davies only has one thing on his mind.
01:01He wasn't worried about those East-West showdowns.
01:03He was interested in winning this East Division championship.
01:06And if he gets another victory here this afternoon in Tennessee,
01:09he's going to go a long way to achieving that.
01:12For Seth Hamaker,
01:13it's now.
01:14It has to be now.
01:15He's got to beat Davies.
01:17250 East here in Tennessee.
01:19Let's go!
01:20And Hamaker does get a good start.
01:23They tuck it in there.
01:24Nice Thrasher.
01:26Here comes Daxton Benick.
01:27Benick with the hole shot.
01:29And that's the great thing about being able to sneak up the inside like that.
01:33Oh, and Thrasher comes up.
01:35Power move.
01:36Gets into the lead quick.
01:38Cole Davies sending it through the whoops right now with Hamaker right behind him.
01:42Yeah, Seth had a little scary one there.
01:44He got some spin drive on the whoops and kind of front got a little heavy.
01:49But we got Drew Adams in 30s from our farm as well.
01:51So great to see him back up there with his first race back since his injury.
01:55Yeah, that was a great save by Seth right there.
01:58He wanted to get in there.
01:59But nonetheless, he ends up getting passed by Cole Davies.
02:01But I love what I see from these guys.
02:03We saw a good Drew Adams was riding earlier in that heat race.
02:07Nate Thrasher as well.
02:08See what these guys can do with an open track lead.
02:10How about the Rockstar Energy Factory Husqvarna of Daxton Bennett, the 58 right there.
02:15Last week in St. Louis in the East-West Showdown, he had to go via the last chance qualifier.
02:20He won that, then finished sixth and elevated himself to third in the championship.
02:25This guy's having a stellar season and he's keeping a watchful eye on Drew Adams.
02:29Well, you see him looking over his shoulder.
02:32And the reason that he's looking over his shoulder is he's protecting the inside, riding a little defensive to make
02:37sure the 35 of Drew Adams doesn't come up and try to make a pass.
02:40Up the inside, great pass by Cole Davies.
02:45Look at Seth Hammacher trying to do the same thing.
02:47You just have to assume, Jet, that he does not want the 37 to get away and he's got to
02:53make every move that Cole does.
02:55Yeah, I think what you're going to see here is the typical thing of Cole's going to make a move,
03:00Seth's going to make a move.
03:01Cole's going to make another move, Seth's going to make another move.
03:04And it's just going to be, they're going to be going through the pack right now until they get to
03:07the front.
03:07And once you get to the front, I think that it's going to be trying to go as hard as
03:11they can to get around each other.
03:13So I think we've got a great race on our hands right now and I'm excited for it.
03:18Boy, in this spot, if you have somebody a little bit faster than you, which normally doesn't happen in your
03:22situation,
03:23if you're Seth, do you try to get around Cole and slow him down or you just try to follow
03:27him up?
03:28To me, I almost feel like I would want to stop his momentum.
03:32But if you're in this spot, what do you do?
03:33See if, I mean, in this kind of situation, what I'm trying to do is while he's focused on the
03:40guy in front,
03:41I'm going to be trying to break his rhythm like you said.
03:44I'm going to try and surprise him, get a front wheel in there.
03:46Take his mind off of going forward, you know, and, oh, I've got to defend.
03:52So I think that's what I'd be focusing on.
03:54Cole Davies' mate, quick worker Daxton Benick, his teammate Landon Gordon's in the mechanics area,
03:59and he works on his other teammate, Nate Trasher.
04:01Well, this is going to really test the spirit of Seth Hamaker right now
04:06because Cole Davies has made some clutch moves to get by,
04:09and you're going to keep your eye on the top of your screen right here.
04:12This is where Cole Davies is so explosive and so fast.
04:16Watch the time he'll make up in the whoops.
04:19Oh, all over him.
04:21Here we go, inside move.
04:22Check this out.
04:24Almost had a shot there at his teammate.
04:26Goes the inside line.
04:27And this is where he got Daxton Benick not quite close enough.
04:31Yeah, you're kind of surprised that Nate's running him so hard, you know,
04:35considering where Cole is in the championship.
04:37But good for him.
04:38I feel like at this point this is only helping Seth out.
04:41He has to try to get around Daxton Benick because I believe if Cole gets around his teammate,
04:46he might just ride off into the sunset.
04:48Nate Thrasher's coming off his best result of the year.
04:51Hasn't been on the podium yet, but a fourth last weekend in St. Louis was crucial for him
04:56to get things back on track.
04:57Right here, going back to the last lap.
05:00Cole needs to be right on the rear tire of Thrasher if he wants to absolutely execute this pass
05:06going through the whoops.
05:08Meanwhile, watch in the background.
05:10Watch Hamaker.
05:10Here comes the Kawasaki rider.
05:12Here comes Davies.
05:13Almost out of shape.
05:15Again, Buck, Wild, and then Woops right now.
05:17Both of Cole and Seth in the background.
05:20Yes, Seth went forward as well in the background.
05:23But, you know, I noticed Cole went a little bit farther inside in that last lap than he did.
05:27And Daxton makes a nice pass up the inside of Nate Thrasher.
05:33That was a beautiful move from Daxton Benick.
05:38Meanwhile, let's talk more about Seth Hamaker, his wage.
05:41Yeah, well, this is fun as you watch him go through.
05:43That is his mom, Sally.
05:44She is not watching the race.
05:46She never does.
05:47She sets a clock on her phone for 13 minutes.
05:50Paces nervously because she doesn't want to watch her son race.
05:53And then two minutes to go, she'll check to see if he's heading to the podium or not.
05:56This action is going on right now.
05:58One person doesn't know his mom.
06:01I think that helps with the stress a lot.
06:04I would do the same, but I can't.
06:05I have to watch.
06:06Oh, sorry about that.
06:10His weight got forward in the whoops and the back end got light.
06:13That was a nice adjustment that Seth made.
06:15Oh, maybe here.
06:16If he nails his inside, go across.
06:19Yeah, good move.
06:20There you go, Seth.
06:21And Daxson was nice to him right there.
06:23He could have pushed him up a little bit and made no contact.
06:26But I feel like Dax, he knows what's on the line right now.
06:28Now, these are very, very key laps for Seth right now.
06:31Because while Cole doesn't know he's in second right now, he's got to make up as much time
06:37as he possibly can before Cole looks back and goes, OK, Seth's right there.
06:41So I think he's really got to execute these laps nicely to try and gain as much time
06:46while maybe Cole's still relaxed.
06:52JT.
06:53Right.
06:54Oh!
06:55Hammock is down!
06:58Seth Hammock has said a week ago he has to push it more.
07:01He has to go for it more.
07:02Did he push it too much at the wrong time?
07:05Trying to catch Cole Davies.
07:08That was such a simple little mistake right there.
07:12And I thought he had his save.
07:14That wasn't major.
07:16Here's a replay right here.
07:17So he comes out triple.
07:18Everything is good.
07:20Just gets off balance.
07:21And his momentum was going to the left.
07:24Oh, man.
07:26Then the bike pumbles him right there.
07:28So he was off balance.
07:29Right, Jett?
07:30See, the tough block grabbed his foot just a little bit to create that extra bit of momentum
07:35for his bike to keep going sideways.
07:37Bummer.
07:38Got all pretty lucky.
07:40I mean, to be able to get back up.
07:41But what started that, he overjumped that triple and got his way too far forward.
07:45That's what pushed him off that balance.
07:46But, man, tough break.
07:49He said he was going to hang out.
07:50He's still in fourth place.
07:51So he didn't lose too much.
07:53But, man, that's going to be costly as far as going after the win.
07:57Hopefully we can make it back and salvage a podium.
08:00That's what we've got to try and go for.
08:01And hopefully either he's just trying to kind of hope.
08:05And if maybe Cole makes a mistake in the upcoming rounds or something else.
08:09This is Devin Simonson up against Henry Miller.
08:12Simonson on the inside.
08:14Miller makes the inside switch there and through the sand section.
08:18This is a good scrap for fifth place.
08:21Yeah, I like that inside because we saw what Seth did.
08:25It seems like you can maybe hop out of that berm and just close the guys off
08:29even if they have the more momentum on the outside.
08:35Here comes Devin Simonson around the outside.
08:37And at the moment, as we race,
08:39Simonson has the upper hand on his Club MX teammate Cody Schock.
08:43These two have been having an awesome season this year,
08:45going back and forth.
08:46Yeah, they've been going back and forth.
08:48Like you said, trade positions each weekend, Diff.
08:50But what a ride by Henry Miller right here.
08:54He was working on Simonson, was able to make the pass.
08:58Looking comfortable out there.
09:02Ooh.
09:04Meanwhile, we're over the halfway mark.
09:06A quick reminder to stock up on Monster Energy drinks at Kroger.
09:11Sand sections right here, Jet.
09:13You like sand sections?
09:15I don't mind them.
09:16When they're in tight sections like that, they're not as fun, for sure.
09:19Right?
09:19When they're in nice swimming turns, I find them a lot more fun,
09:23especially when they have some nice rollers that you can jump and time together.
09:26So, I like the sand, especially in outdoors.
09:30Henry Miller in this fifth place aboard his MX6 Kawasaki.
09:33That's exactly where he got.
09:36Season best in Detroit a couple of races ago.
09:38So, nice work, Henry.
09:41Sits behind Seth Hammacher, ahead of Devin Simonson.
09:44Meanwhile, race leader Cole Davies has blown out to almost a six-second advantage.
09:49Yeah, dude is just rolling right here.
09:51And I feel like when you get into this position for a rider the caliber of Cole,
09:56this is this, I feel like he's just in maintenance or maintaining mode, Will.
10:02Ricky, for all of you guys, just chatting with Cole Davies yesterday,
10:06asking about sort of how far he's come from round one for him to this point.
10:11Now, he was just describing how much of a kind of calmer rider he is, more controlled.
10:16We specifically talked about when he doesn't get the start.
10:20And it was a decent start, but we didn't see him out there with a hole shot.
10:22And what he does, and he said he's just learned to go about being calm in those moments,
10:27working his way forward, not panicking, not kind of going,
10:30I've got to get to the front and over-pushing.
10:32And what we're seeing is a work from him.
10:33That's just exactly what we saw today.
10:35And he seems to be learning it very quickly.
10:38He said nobody told him that, and he just figured it out.
10:40I just feel that we're seeing this rider really develop right in front of our eyes through the season.
10:44A lot of box there.
10:45You saw Hunter Lawrence riding towards the gate area to get ready for his main event.
10:49Look, New Zealand, for a small population, produces incredible sports men and women
10:56and sporting accomplishments.
10:58I can't remember if I said this last week or not, but you may have seen the news story
11:02where this young man, this teenage sensation Cole Davies,
11:06has captured the attention of fellow New Zealand sports people in the motorsports sphere.
11:10Six-time IndyCar champ Scott Dixon, NASCAR sensation Shane Van Gisbergen,
11:16Liam Lawson, Formula One driver.
11:17They've all reached out to this young man via social media to congratulate him
11:22and to spur him on and encourage him.
11:24That's pretty cool stuff.
11:25No, it really is.
11:26I mean, can you imagine seeing that through social media,
11:29getting the stars of other sports knowing that they're watching you?
11:32But everybody in the motorsports industry, whether you're on two or four wheels,
11:36we all appreciate it.
11:37Like, I'm sure Cole watches those guys.
11:38I know I do.
11:39So, man, really cool for those guys to reach out to him.
11:43But just luck.
11:45This is going to be a very generous pickup and points for Cole Davies
11:49towards his quest for this 250 East Division Championship.
11:54Just four minutes and one, four and a half minutes and one lap remaining here
11:59and picking his way through these lappers, doing a fantastic job doing that, JT.
12:05He looks incredible, Ricky.
12:06And what I really enjoy about his racing is just the maturity that he shows
12:11because, yes, riders take risks because we've heard and seen Seth Handmaker
12:16kind of have the negative side of that.
12:19But also, Cole took some risks when he made that pass in the whoops.
12:22He was a little bit out of shape to make the pass on Thrasher,
12:24but he knew when and where to apply that risk.
12:28And the rest of the race, he's been so tremendously patient.
12:30And such a big part of this is knowing when to push.
12:33And if I have to say it, a lot of this reminds me of a young Jett Lawrence,
12:37the patience and then an intensity when needed.
12:40Yeah, it does.
12:41And another thing that I was really impressed with last year with Cole Davies
12:45in his rookie season is when he was getting heat in these races,
12:48he was really good at just riding his race.
12:51He didn't get caught in the moment.
12:53Override the motorcycle if he was being pressured.
12:56And to have that amount of self-discipline is very tough, as you know, Jett and James.
13:02Hard to do that at a young age.
13:03No, it's, I think, one of the hardest things.
13:06As a young kid, you have all the energy in the world,
13:08and all you want to do is win.
13:10And I know when I was young, and I still am,
13:13you're so competitive and all you want to do is win.
13:15So I think it's a great thing to have knowing when you need to step it up
13:19and when you need to, you know, back it down, like you said.
13:22In this one, he had that little burst of energy in the whoops to make a pass.
13:26And now, honestly, you just see him flowing.
13:28You don't see any extra energy that he's putting in.
13:31You don't see any extra thing he's trying to pull out,
13:33just hitting his marks and doing it.
13:35And now you see here, we're just talking about that.
13:37See if Seth could maybe catch up to make a salvage of podium.
13:41And he's doing that right now.
13:42Even second place is right there, Dax.
13:44So it's going to get some fun racing really soon.
13:47Yeah, Seth has done a great job at catching these guys.
13:50He was about seven seconds behind him.
13:51So he's doing everything.
13:53He understands if he can't beat Cole, he needs to finish behind him.
13:56So great recovery from here.
13:58Right now, I think it's a great opportunity.
14:00Maybe some of these guys get caught up in these lappers,
14:02but Seth's got to try to make that second place.
14:05Daxton Benick isn't that far off the track either.
14:07So Thrasher is the first one on Seth Hamaker's list.
14:10Then Daxton Benick, who is having the best season of his career.
14:14If he can finish second, here we go.
14:16Hamaker gets Thrasher.
14:17So he's up to third.
14:19Yeah, I was just about to call that out.
14:21It felt like Seth needed to make that pass.
14:23While Nate was more concentrated on that lapper,
14:26he might be able to sneak up the inside.
14:28Great move by him in third place.
14:30Let's see if we can get another one.
14:31Yeah, he used Jeremy Hand there as a pick to get by.
14:34I don't think that Nate was anticipating that.
14:39I think right now these combinations in the whoops is the worst time.
14:45You have absolutely cupped out beat whoops with dry sling.
14:50And these edges, if people were down there seeing,
14:53they are like concrete curves.
14:55So as soon as that thing gets kicked sideways,
14:57it is so hard to try and get that back tamed.
14:59Like as you've seen then before with Seth's run through there.
15:03So it's hairy.
15:05You're kind of deciding like, oh, do I jump?
15:07But they're not broken down as much as like an East Coast
15:09with like last weekend.
15:11They broke down massively.
15:12You can kind of jump them.
15:13So he's in a hairy kind of situation
15:16of either jumping or skimming.
15:18But he's still going with skimming
15:19because he's trying to make up passes right now.
15:21You're listening to the voice of three-time
15:23and reigning SMX 450 world champion Jet Lawrence
15:27as we watch the 10% Hamaker close in on Daxton Benek.
15:31This is for second with less than a minute
15:33plus a lap to go in this 250 East Division main event
15:36here in Nashville.
15:37Be interesting to see how much of a fight
15:39Daxton Benek puts up right here
15:41because the 10 of Seth Hamaker
15:43has made up an immense amount of time.
15:47And he is all over him.
15:49The one thing Seth Hamaker has shown us time and again, James,
15:52as he works on Benek here,
15:53is he can have an incident.
15:55And he rebounds and recovers so well.
15:58They both go down.
15:59Benek and Hamaker are down.
16:02Oh, man.
16:03Trasher goes through to grab second place.
16:06Oh, my goodness.
16:09What a heartbreak for Benek.
16:12Oh, he was going to get 10.
16:14That's such a bummer.
16:15He was putting in such a great ride, too.
16:17That's such a bummer.
16:19Yeah.
16:19Just a race and incident.
16:21Daxton lost the rear end,
16:23and then Seth had that momentum.
16:24But because Seth almost jumped off the racetrack,
16:27it actually threw him wide.
16:28So he was able to square that corner up,
16:30and those two collided.
16:32One more lap to go for Cole Davies.
16:35He has no idea of the mayhem
16:37that has just unfolded behind him.
16:40Final lap.
16:41And this is going to be massive
16:44for a guy like Devin Simonson.
16:48Showing him still fifth right here.
16:51That'll be a career miss for Devin Simonson.
16:54Davies is en route to his fourth victory of the year.
16:58What a ride by this guy.
17:00This guy doesn't even know the carnage
17:02that's going on behind him.
17:03It's like, oh, that was a pretty nice, calmful race.
17:06Oh.
17:08And this is what he does best.
17:10Stays in control.
17:12Manages everything.
17:13Championship on his mind.
17:15Gives himself a little confirmation nod there.
17:21And in similar fashion
17:22to his teammate Hayden Deegan last weekend,
17:25it's going to be a 15-plus second win.
17:27Look at this.
17:27Notting his head.
17:28Cole Davies has done it again.
17:30and increases his championship lead
17:33in the 250 East division.
17:37Oh, here we go.
17:38Simonson getting by Benick.
17:40Benick looks over, sir.
17:42There's Miller, too.
17:43Henry Miller wants a shot.
17:44Now, these next few seconds, he might drop two positions.
17:47Daxton Benick's got to try and regroup and recover here.
17:51But he's still shell-shocked from that knock and that fall.
17:55Nate Thrasher's grabbed second.
17:58Oh.
17:58Oh, he could have had it.
18:00Hammocker gets on the podium.
18:02Simonson gets a career best.
18:04And Daxton Benick, a second or a third, turns into a fifth.
18:09Wow.
18:09That's a bummer.
18:10That's a bummer.
18:12There's the man at the moment.
18:13He says, let's go.
18:15Well, you did go all the way to another win, Cole Davies.
18:18Yeah, that was a great ride.
18:20I've got to give a shout-out to Seth.
18:22He was able to get back up twice after two big hits
18:25and still finish up on the podium.
18:27I think that's what it's hard to teach kids nowadays.
18:31And I don't think it's very hard to teach it just in general.
18:34The hard work and that never give up.
18:36Obviously, in that race, Seth got knocked down twice.
18:38And he still didn't quit and still kept going.
18:40Obviously, he got a third.
18:42But, I mean, the man at the hour right now, obviously, Cole Davies,
18:45after a pretty, probably, fairly calm for race for him.
18:48There's his dad in the background there,
18:50just giving a gentle congratulations.
18:54Mom there.
18:55Let's bring you the UFO Plus moment of the race.
18:58We couldn't believe it, just like you at home.
19:00This was crazy.
19:01Seth Hamaker trying to work on Daxton Benick.
19:04Daxton gets sideways.
19:05Seth clips him.
19:07And down they both go.
19:08Yeah, you couldn't time that any better.
19:12No.
19:12I mean, look at, like, Daxton gets sideways.
19:15The 10 of Hamaker gets an unreal drive out and then nowhere to go.
19:19That just, yeah.
19:21It's a bummer.
19:22I think Seth was going to go cut under,
19:24but then he was going, then Dax was going right.
19:27Then he tried going left.
19:28And, obviously, it started sliding.
19:30And that's what you never want to see, obviously,
19:32is it's a bit of a bummer that both are riding really, really well.
19:34And, obviously, it would have been great to see Dax get a podium as well.
19:37That's right.
19:38Teammates finish first and second from Monster Energy Star Yamaha.
19:41Cole Davies, Nate Thrasher.
19:43That's Nate's first podium on the year.
19:45Well done.
19:46And then, Seth Hamaker continues his podium streak as well.
