00:03Todd Archer says add two more corners to the Cowboys top 30 list.
00:08Jermod McCoy, who Brian brought us absolutely loves.
00:12Bobby and Nick Harris seem to think he will not be drafted by the Dallas Cowboys.
00:17Why is he on that visit list then?
00:19D'Angelo Pons also scheduled to be at the star this week.
00:24So that would bring the total known corners on the list to seven.
00:28A lot to make certain of with McCoy's knee.
00:30Why is he visiting?
00:32Because there's a lot to make certain of with McCoy's knee.
00:35It's it's this is the sort of thing where it's a for instance, we don't know why they brought in
00:42Omar Cooper.
00:43It's the only offensive player they've brought in.
00:46And he seems to be sort of a purgatory player where they don't have a pick.
00:51And if they were to if they were to pick him in the first round, it's like, OK, well, that
00:55doesn't seem like it happened.
00:56And he's not going to be there by your third.
00:57So what's the point?
00:58So we don't know why they brought him in for it.
01:00But nobody looks at that and think down, baby.
01:02Nobody.
01:03But nobody looks at it and thinks like, oh, they're clearly now interested in him at 12 or 20.
01:07There's we're trying to figure out other reasons for it.
01:09Similarly with McCoy.
01:10I think they're just trying to figure out where would we be comfortable or at what spot?
01:15Like, could we justify?
01:16All right, fine.
01:17We'll take him here.
01:17I think it's about underlining what exactly they feel about him and getting all the firm answers on it,
01:24especially if you've got the visits to use.
01:25Can they do medicals on him during these visits?
01:28They can.
01:28Not with local players, but with national visits.
01:30They can.
01:31Ollie Connolly.
01:32Special surprise call in right now, by the way, from Brian Broadus here on 105 through the fan to talk
01:38about this and more.
01:39Ollie Connolly of the read optional says Ruben Bain was driving on I-95 in Miami in March of 2024.
01:46His car crashed into another vehicle before slamming into concrete barriers.
01:51One of the passengers in the car, 22-year-old Destiny Betts, suffered serious injury.
01:57She never emerged from a coma.
01:59She died three months later.
02:01The police report said that Bain was careless or negligent.
02:05He was cited for careless driving.
02:07The charge was later dismissed.
02:09Most teams, and Broadus, have known about this for a long, long time.
02:15A civil lawsuit was actually settled.
02:18The family released a statement saying, all good.
02:20We're moving forward.
02:21We wish Ruben Bain the absolute best as well.
02:25How could this impact things?
02:26One of Ruben Bain's biggest fans, Brian Broadus, with the nice surprise call in right now on the home of
02:31the Cowboys.
02:32Good morning, brother.
02:32How are you?
02:33Doing well, boys.
02:34How about yourself?
02:35Doing well.
02:36You've known about this.
02:39What are teams saying about it?
02:41Some teams are saying, we don't like the way he necessarily answered it.
02:44Maybe a little bit dismissive.
02:46How do you think this affects Bain, and what else do you know about it?
02:50Yeah, that's kind of where we're at right now on it.
02:52Teams really weren't too happy with the way that he was, you know, when the question was posed,
02:58that he was giving them answers to, you know, why and how and all those things.
03:03They were also worried about some potential backlash of maybe this thing reopening and a lawsuit once again being, you
03:12know,
03:12something that once he signed this contract, this was clearly a black cloud that was hanging over this kid's head
03:18throughout the whole process here.
03:20So, you know, it's something that, like I say, I know myself, Bobby, Zach Wolchuk, others, we were kind of
03:26starting to hear some things, you know,
03:28from scouts and stuff that we were talking to that this thing was going to potentially something that he was
03:34going to have to answer to.
03:36To be honest with you, I'm surprised it's held this long.
03:39I know we're only, you know, a few days away from the actual draft itself, but this is something that
03:46teams have known about for quite a bit,
03:48and they really weren't too happy with the way that he was handling the question part of it.
03:52Does this affect anything for you if he's sitting there at 12?
03:56Well, the, you know, the effect is that, to me, now listen, this is, you know, my board's my board.
04:04They really don't give a rat's ass what I say.
04:06I mean, they, you know, last time they cared what I said was in 2005.
04:10So, but, you know, that's, yeah, I mean, it's one of those things that, you know, I've known about it
04:15for the last few weeks,
04:17and I'm, you know, I was like, okay, well, if teams are, if teams are not taking him off the
04:22board,
04:23it sounds like to me that teams are more adamant about his, the body type, you know, the short arms
04:29and stuff than they are this thing.
04:30So, but does it change for me?
04:33No, Dallas needs a pass rusher.
04:35Do I think they'll take him?
04:37I don't think that they would.
04:39I just made, you know, teams get so locked in on measurables, and, you know, he's an outlier,
04:45and nobody's ever had these kinds of arms or arm length and been drafted, and, you know, that's kind of
04:51what teams do.
04:52They get locked in, and they don't want to change.
04:56They don't want to adapt.
04:57You know, you can watch the tape, you can watch him play in 17 weeks and playing against tackles who
05:03had much longer arms than him
05:04and the way he's able to avoid and keep hands off him, and so, yeah, it's, he's probably going to
05:10be a really good value for somebody.
05:11I know everybody in these mock drafts here recently, you know, the best one, you know, your last one hopefully
05:18is your best mock draft.
05:19I'll be interested to see where some of these national guys, the Daniel Jeremiahs and those guys put him in
05:26their final mock.
05:26Brian, every insider now is whispering about the Cowboys moving up.
05:32We got mock trades for Bailey, Bobby's guy out of tech.
05:36We got mock trades for Reese, Dane Brugler on Friday, which we'll play later, is talking about maybe moving up
05:42for Sonny Stiles.
05:43How are you weighing staying at 12 and 20 versus moving up possibly for Bailey, Reese, or Stiles, or anybody
05:51else?
05:52Yeah, I, I've, I've kind of, I hate myself for how I've approached this because the, I, I'm more interested
06:01in going up and getting one of those guys than I am weighing at 12.
06:06I, I do believe this though.
06:08This is once again, where teams are looking at it and they're saying, oh, well, positional value.
06:15And I know I hear your show talk about positional value when I'm driving around, but this, this is, you
06:21know, when you start to talk about downs, the safety from Ohio state, being one of the best players in
06:25the country.
06:26And the one thing you're trying to do in the top 10 is pick the best player that, you know,
06:31you know, that will not, you know, fail you, you know, I mean, you, you could go and reach, I
06:35mean, there's teams talking about this, you know, Monroe Freeling from Georgia in the top 10, and there's no way
06:42this guy's a top 10 player, but that's what they're talking about right now.
06:45So to me, I'm kind of in that mode of like, give me the opportunity to go get one of
06:51the best players.
06:52Now, if I'm really, really interested in downs and teams are thinking about the positional value stuff, I might be
06:59inclined just to sit there and see if he falls to me at 12 is what I'll do.
07:04So I've kind of gone back and forth on this to try and figure out, I initially was very, very
07:10mindful of like, let's go get one of those guys.
07:12I worry about walking the minefields ahead of you with the teams ahead of you.
07:17I especially worry about the Dolphins.
07:19And I say this about the Dolphins because John Eric Sullivan, their general manager, first-time general manager, he's got
07:26a team that's in cap trouble.
07:28He needs players.
07:29He needs picks.
07:31And I worry about somebody coming up ahead of you at the Dolphins.
07:35So I would do my best to try and get up.
07:37I know we've heard the Arizona thing.
07:39I've had somebody in the organization tell me that's news to us about trading to Arizona.
07:44I have not had anybody confirm anything to me about going to Cleveland.
07:49But that seems like a pretty legitimate spot if you could get there.
07:54You know, Kansas City at 9 might be a possibility with their late one doing some stuff.
07:58So there's at least some teams that you can maybe think about.
08:01The Saints even at 8 are teams that you could probably think about going up to if you really want
08:06to kind of get that guy that you covet.
08:09Brian brought us with us here on Sean and RJ.
08:12Okay, Brian, let's say highest of unlikely scenarios, just something wild happens.
08:18And you're there at 12 and Stiles, Delane, and Downs all fall down to them.
08:24Who do you think they're taking?
08:27Well, I think that they might take Stiles as who they would take.
08:31I think the linebacker situation is pretty dire for them right now.
08:36But me personally, I think the way I would do it is that I would take Downs, Delane, and Stiles
08:42the way I would do it.
08:44But they don't, again, care what I say.
08:46So, yeah, I think they would look at Stiles in that situation.
08:54I mean, like I said, I want to believe that they would take Downs.
08:58But I kind of also feel like, wow, they're really hurting at the linebacker spot.
09:04And so that's probably the direction that they would go.
09:07Would that be a need pick?
09:10Well, they're all need picks, it seems like.
09:13You know, I mean, to me, the best player is Downs.
09:15The next best player is Delane.
09:17That's the way I could say it.
09:18I just told you the way I would take it.
09:21What if Bain was there, too?
09:23If Bain was there, I'd still take Downs over Bain is what I would do.
09:29Brian, where do you stand on Jermon McCoy now after Bobby, after Nick Harris have basically said,
09:36they don't think the Cowboys are taking him.
09:38The injury is not scaring you as much as others?
09:42Well, I have him as cornerback one.
09:44But the disadvantage we have is the injuries and stuff like that.
09:48Where's the medical?
09:49There's teams that clearly think the knee is not good enough or not healthy enough right now,
09:53even though he ran the 4-3-9.
09:56Bobby's been very adamant about that for the last month.
09:59He's got absolute grounds there that he's standing on that is right.
10:04You know, talking to people in the organization, they're saying the knee is a real concern there.
10:10So, yeah, I don't see them taking McCoy if he was there.
10:13I wrote this down from your G-Bag show late in the week, and I was like,
10:18oh, okay, we're all looking for surprising names.
10:20What could throw us off?
10:21And you were talking about Malachi Lawrence being underrated, and you said,
10:27quote, there are people who believe he's the best edge rusher in the draft,
10:31that he's better than Bailey, Bain, Mesidor, Mason Thomas, Howell.
10:37Is this a possible DN edge sleeper here in Lawrence?
10:40Well, I don't know if it's a sleeper.
10:42I mean, it's one of those things that, to me, when you talk to him this time of year,
10:47that's really what all I do is live on the phone talking to people.
10:50And, you know, there's teams that believe that Malachi Lawrence is one of the best.
10:55And the reason I said that is I had two different teams tell me that.
10:59So I don't think it was a smokescreen or, you know, anything like that.
11:04I just, you know, when you watch Lawrence play, you know, the length, the bend,
11:09the explosiveness, you know, ability to finish, you know,
11:12these are all things that, you know, the more you dig in and you really start to,
11:16and this is what we do this time of year, you know,
11:18really dig in on these edges or, you know, the other positions
11:21and surely kind of find out, you know, who's best suited to do what.
11:25And I know a couple of different teams I've talked to were saying,
11:29listen, if you guys aren't talking about Malachi Lawrence in the way with Bailey
11:34and those guys and Mesidor, you're not talking about the draft,
11:39especially the edges the right way.
11:40Brian, everyone's board is set, right?
11:42When we see these late risers and the name.
11:45Not yet, not yet.
11:46Yeah, we're, no, I mean, I've talked to a couple of teams.
11:49There are teams still in meetings right now.
11:51You're going to get this thing.
11:52This thing is going to carry through this week.
11:55And then next week, I think if we come to Monday,
11:59then you're going to start to see, like,
12:01maybe you'll hear a little whispers here and there.
12:03But, yeah, right now, I know they're trying to put these things together.
12:07Where are you on the way to right now?
12:09I'm sitting in my office at Crown Global Medium.
12:13Yeah, yeah.
12:15I've got a lot of money if you guys haven't.
12:19The great Brian brought us with a surprise Monday call-in.
12:22Great, great treat for the 6 a.m. club.
12:24Thank you so much, brother.
12:25We'll be following on GBag.
12:27Appreciate you, boys.
12:28Take care.
12:28There he is.
12:29The man, Brian, brought us here on DFW Sports Station.
12:32Bobby, we have not, if we're talking about Lawrence,
12:36is it possible for a Shriner?
12:36He's not a sleeper, but he's a sleeper to these discussions
12:39that we have at least been having amongst possibilities at 12 and 20.
12:43Where do you stand on Malachi out of UCF?
12:46Yeah, no, Malachi Lawrence is a really good player.
12:49I'm a little, I would be stunned.
12:51I think that sleeper would be right for first round
12:54because I have not talked to many people who thought
12:58he was going to go in the first during this process.
13:00And so that would be a late push to me if he were to come up.
13:05But no, he's a, there's a lot about him that when you watch,
13:08he's explosive.
13:10He's a natural instincts coming off the edge.
13:13He's somebody who can bend.
13:14There's a lot about him that when you watch, you're like,
13:16oh yeah, that's a pure, like clean pass rusher.
13:19It's just, he's not somebody that I think has been thought of
13:22as being the level of impact or the level of upside
13:25that even somebody like Keldrick Falk or TJ Parker
13:28or some of these other guys have been.
