00:01From Dallas, Texas, number 55, Brian Brothers.
00:04Thank you very much, Lucis.
00:06Always appreciate you playing that.
00:07And thank you to Greystone for being a part of this as well.
00:11Thank you guys also, too, out there for listening to our Love of the Star podcast
00:15and stuff like that.
00:16With the draft just being around the corner in a couple weeks here,
00:22it's only going to get better, I think, with the players we're talking about,
00:25some of the information.
00:26Our shows are going to get better, too, here on 105.3.
00:29The fan, I know with the information, the closer we get to the draft,
00:31the more I start to hear things, the more I think Zach starts to hear things.
00:36You guys definitely want to be tuned in.
00:38We've got you covered for all things NFL Draft coming up here real, real soon.
00:44No doubt about that.
00:45Might even tell you about some stuff we're not supposed to here and there.
00:47We might occasionally do that.
00:49Don't do that on accident.
00:50Eric, I've got to go out and see you tomorrow.
00:52Where are I going to see you?
00:53Yeah, Alliance Hyundai in Fort Worth, I-35 and Golden Triangle,
00:56one-year anniversary celebration.
00:58That'll be a party for you.
00:59If you like barbecue and a bunch of free stuff.
01:01Yeah.
01:02And maybe a fist bump with Fred Davis and Will Chambers.
01:04Eric's a nice guy, too.
01:06Eric will, like I say, Eric will-
01:07Love you, man.
01:08He'll go, yeah, Eric will get you.
01:09Hey, buddy.
01:10He'll make you feel like you're the greatest person.
01:12I love fellowshipping with the Tolos, what can I say?
01:14Yeah.
01:15It's a party out there, dude.
01:16Get your butt out there tomorrow, 10 a.m.
01:17Absolute party, for sure.
01:19All right.
01:20Had a chance to do a little Kenny Moore work,
01:23the slot corner from the-
01:25So what we're doing is we're talking about a trade here, right?
01:27So what we're talking about, boys?
01:29Talking trades, baby.
01:30Talking trade.
01:31He's got trades.
01:32He's got trades.
01:33This guy does play a slot.
01:35That's what he does.
01:36He's a slot player.
01:37Don't see him play in any other position other than the slot.
01:41So if you're thinking about slot or like, oh, could this be slot safety, dude?
01:46Could it be hybrid, dude?
01:48I didn't see him play any safety, but I did see him play in a lot of slot.
01:53And I think what's interesting about him is he's kind of like one of those,
01:56the old school, if we remember, and it's funny,
01:59we were talking about Rondé Barber and Tiki Barber and that kind of stuff.
02:03This guy blitzes.
02:05He's a blitzer from the slot.
02:07So there'll be that occasional.
02:09You line him up, and the next thing you know, he comes running in there.
02:12And actually, he's pretty good at it.
02:14He's got kind of a feel for doing those things.
02:16Is it blitzing and making plays versus the run
02:19or mostly trying to get after the quarterback?
02:21Doing both.
02:22Yeah?
02:22Actually, you could see him teams.
02:24He will line up in the slot, and then all of a sudden,
02:27he'll be the team.
02:29The ball will come.
02:30You can see him kind of cheating down inside, kind of walk, walk, walk, walk,
02:34and then boom, go.
02:35And so, you know, they'll cover the back end with safety over the top,
02:39and then he'll come running in there.
02:41So this guy's willing to do that.
02:43He's willing to do the physical side of the things.
02:46Chargers tried to throw a screen to his side.
02:48He was able to kind of blow that up a little bit, get into the ball.
02:52He did miss a couple of tackles in the Tennessee game
02:56where he got in space, and the ball was on the outside there,
03:00and he was trying to kind of get in there to make a play.
03:04It was a one-on-one situation, and the receiver was able to get around him,
03:09and it happened a couple of different times.
03:11But then there was another time where they threw the ball in the flat,
03:13and then he came up and was able to make the play in space.
03:16So this is one of those things, you see him miss one, you see him make one.
03:20But I like the physicality he played with.
03:24I don't think this guy's got very much of a burst when it comes to, you know me,
03:30one of the big criterias I have is if you get carried inside, you've got to be able to run,
03:34you've got to be able to stay, you can see some separation with him inside,
03:39and you can see some separation up the field.
03:42They got into a game against Jacksonville where all of a sudden,
03:47was it Jacksonville?
03:48Oh, it was the Dolphins, excuse me, where the ball, there was a double move,
03:54and then he got caught in the double move,
03:57and all of a sudden then he went into catch-up mode, and he never caught up.
04:02Yeah.
04:02I mean, you never, like, you're waiting for him to run the balls in the air,
04:07and he's never getting close to the receiver.
04:10I mean, it's just like, and the receiver's actually slowing up waiting for the ball.
04:15So maybe there's not a big catch-up speed with this guy.
04:20Maybe there's not much of a burst.
04:22Makes sense.
04:23He's had some injuries.
04:23He's 31 years old.
04:24Like, the athleticism probably isn't quite there.
04:27Maybe that's why they're moving on from the guy.
04:29Yeah.
04:29Maybe they're absolutely, this is why they're moving on from the guy.
04:32I mean, they brought in Lou Anaromo to play, you know, to be their defensive coordinator.
04:35I think he played, like, 20% less snaps in this new defense.
04:39So maybe kind of falling out of favor a little bit there.
04:42I will say this guy's super aware, though, when it comes to what's going on around him,
04:48that, you know, there are things he's not getting fooled.
04:51Well, now, the double move stuff was he just got baited inside.
04:55They just ran it on him, and they're like, they kind of went the out and up on him,
05:00and he got caught.
05:02But they threw the ball his direction.
05:04He just didn't have the catch-up speed that you like.
05:08I thought, like I said, I thought he'd be able to run that thing down,
05:10but he wasn't able to do that.
05:12He missed about 10% of his tackles this year, missed quite a few more last year.
05:19You know, the contract around $9 million.
05:22The Colts have a cap number on him this year for $13 million,
05:25but just $7 million if they let him go.
05:27So they're going to have to eat $6 million to let him go.
05:30And the way you've been kind of talking about him kind of makes me seem like
05:32maybe this isn't a player that could help the Cowboys right now.
05:35I don't think he particularly can.
05:37If you're, if, to me, Zach, I know you've done a lot of great work.
05:40Like, if we're going to, if you're going to just go corner slot,
05:47not hybrid slot.
05:49Like legitimate corner slot.
05:50Legitimate corner slot.
05:51You've got a lot of good options.
05:51We've got a lot of options here.
05:53Yeah, I mean, I think Chris Johnson could do that.
05:55Yeah.
05:55Maybe out of San Diego State.
05:56Chris Johnson, I'm going to tip the cap to you, by the way.
06:00Talking to guys around the league,
06:02there's a lot of folks that love Chris Johnson like you do.
06:05You know, and so I could see there are people,
06:08if all of a sudden there's not as much love for McCoy
06:13and we start to find that out because of the injury,
06:16I think you're starting to hear a lot more about Hood, his teammate.
06:20The question you have to ask yourself about Hood is,
06:23can Hood play slot?
06:25Today on the stack, Zach and Aisha and I got into it a little bit about,
06:30Hood is a boundary corner.
06:33Boundary corners play towards the sidelines.
06:36You know, usually if you're playing slot,
06:39what is the one thing you need to be able to do?
06:41You need to cover the whole field.
06:43You need to be able to go wherever that route takes you.
06:45You've got to go.
06:46So if you're a boundary corner, and he might be playing boundary corner
06:49because, you know, McCoy didn't play last year,
06:52but they've always played him.
06:54They felt like that maybe McCoy could handle more of that
06:57and that maybe Hood couldn't.
07:01So there's some guys, like I say, there's our Indiana guy with Ponds, Rivers,
07:08our guy from Arizona State.
07:11Keith Abney.
07:11Abney.
07:12I mean, Kennedy from Oregon kind of sounds a lot like Kenny Moore.
07:15Right.
07:16You know, a guy that is a little smaller.
07:18He'll tackle, but he's a guy that might give up some tackles
07:22because you can run through him a little bit,
07:23but he's a good scrappy cover guy.
07:25I mean, you could probably get Kennedy.
07:27I've got him in the fourth round.
07:28Could he be there at 112?
07:28Could you take him at 92?
07:30That might be just a cheaper, younger option,
07:32and you're getting a similar type of player.
07:33I think so.
07:34If you're talking $13 million for a player,
07:37I think I could find you one.
07:39I think I'd find you one in that day three group
07:44that could probably make a difference for you,
07:46more so than spending $13 million on this guy
07:50or making a trade for a guy like this is just what I would think.
07:54Sounds like maybe the Colts are looking at it like,
07:56let's try to trade him, and if nobody does, then we'll release him.
07:59We'll just, yeah.
08:00It's one of those deals.
08:01Yeah, we'll do that.
08:01All right, my last few minutes,
08:02I like to always play games on Fridays with the Masters going on right now.
08:06Can I just play like a two, three-minute game?
08:08Please do.
08:08Yeah, absolutely.
08:09I'd like to ask you guys this question.
08:11Thank you for allowing me to do the scouting report there.
08:13I appreciate that, too.
08:14By the way, we're tied at the top right now,
08:17McIlroy and Reed both on the back nine.
08:20Rory came out on fire.
08:21He was.
08:22He was three under through four, got to eight under for the tourney,
08:25but he's given two back since then.
08:27Yeah, that's what you always have to kind of worry about a little bit with him.
08:29He'll have those moments where, man, he's playing really well,
08:32and then he'll have that hiccup along the way.
08:34All right, I'd like for you, I'm going to give you a name of a golfer,
08:38and I want you to tell me, was this guy actually a Masters champ?
08:43Oh.
08:43It's a very selective group.
08:45I think we're right now with the 90th Masters, I think is what we're dealing with right now.
08:53So I think I've got that right.
08:55Look that up for me if you would.
08:57Fact check me on that.
08:58Masters and what Masters this is.
09:00Am I way over?
09:01This is the 90th.
09:02This is number 90.
09:03Number 90?
09:04You're crushing that.
09:04Okay, the 90th Masters.
09:08All right, I'm going to give you a name.
09:10Okay.
09:10In the next two or three minutes here, I'm going to give you a name.
09:12Jack Nicklaus.
09:13Tell me if this guy was a Masters champ or not.
09:18Oh, crap.
09:18You ready?
09:19Yep.
09:20Art Wall.
09:23Art Wall.
09:25I can see an art being a golfer for sure.
09:28But does that sound like a Masters champion?
09:30I think that he just looked up at his wall and said,
09:33look at this art wall.
09:35I figured I'd make this up.
09:37I think that's a total made-up name, dude.
09:40Named her boyfriend back in the day in the whole Brady Pond.
09:42I can't wait to hear you say that you're ball-sacking us with this one.
09:44How about you, Chief?
09:46Is this Art Wall you think was a Masters champ?
09:48Yeah.
09:50Yeah, give it to me, man.
09:51I think Art had it in him.
09:53I'm going to say butt crack, ball-sack.
09:56I don't think Art Wall even played golf a day in his life.
10:00What's up, ball-sack sack?
10:01Lucius, you with me today?
10:03GP, are you with me?
10:04Are you with me today, Lucius?
10:05Lucius, we're talking about is this guy a Masters champ?
10:09Absolutely not.
10:10Absolutely not, says the great Lucius Alexander.
10:13Zach Wolchuk.
10:14I'm going to go with no.
10:16Wow, I'm on an island over here.
10:17I hate to be the only one that's right.
10:20Are you saying that he is the Masters champ?
10:22Yeah, I am.
10:23I'm the one guy.
10:24Lone Wolf.
10:24Eric?
10:26You are not the father.
10:28You're absolutely right.
10:281959.
10:28There you go, bro.
10:29There you go.
10:31Nailed it.
10:32He shuffled on us, bro.
10:33What year?
10:34Well done.
10:351959.
10:36Yeah.
10:37This is one of the first ever winners.
10:40Yes.
10:41That's awesome.
10:41Way to go, bro.
10:42Show the ball before you score.
10:43Good job, buddy.
10:44Taunt us.
10:45Lucius, how about this one?
10:46Yeah.
10:47Lucius, how about this one?
10:49For you, George Archer.
10:53Archer.
10:54George Archer.
10:55George Archer.
10:56Well, you just got...
10:57No.
10:59Lucius says no.
11:00Shoot.
11:01How about you there, Roy Chuck?
11:03Archer sounds like he's pinpoint, dude.
11:05This is Todd's great-great-grandfather.
11:07We know how much of a golfing background the Archers have.
11:10I'm going to go opposite to my gut in this game,
11:13because I think my gut, when it comes to golf, is wrong.
11:16So I'm going to say...
11:17Yes.
11:18Yes.
11:18It could just be yes.
11:19You're saying yes?
11:20I'm going to say he...
11:21I'm going to say no now.
11:22No.
11:23No.
11:23I'm going to say no.
11:23No or yes?
11:24I like what you're doing, man.
11:25Yes.
11:25I like the way you're going here.
11:26You're saying yes.
11:27Okay.
11:27How about you there, Chief?
11:28Playing with confidence.
11:29No, this is definitely not a Masters champion.
11:33Hell of a golfer, though.
11:35Yeah.
11:35Like, scratch golfer?
11:36This guy had it.
11:37Not a Masters champion.
11:38I've never heard of him, Brian.
11:40Never heard of him?
11:40Never heard of him.
11:43So, yes.
11:44Gentlemen?
11:45So you're saying yes or no?
11:47I'm saying no.
11:48You're saying no?
11:48I don't want to get my-assed.
11:52He'll block you.
11:53Watch out.
11:54Gentlemen?
11:54Come on.
11:56In the year...
11:57Oh, come on, bro.
11:591969.
12:00Golly.
12:01Now you're doing bits.
12:02George Archer did win the Masters.
12:04Oh, my God.
12:061969.
12:06Go way back.
12:081969.
12:09Way back, music.
12:10And the last one.
12:10Did you get that one right, Eric?
12:11What?
12:12You got that one right?
12:13No, I was wrong on that one.
12:14And here's the last one.
12:16Here's the last one.
12:17Oh, shoot.
12:18Let's go with Dawson.
12:20Yeah.
12:21Craig Wood.
12:23By the way, speaking of going way back, Eric Nadell is going to join us coming up at 440 today.
12:27Craig Wood.
12:28Never heard of him.
12:29Craig Wood.
12:29That's a butt crack.
12:31How about you there, Chieftain?
12:33If anybody could win the championship, I think Craig Wood.
12:38I like what you're there.
12:40I'm more of a Craig Way guy myself.
12:42Yeah, I do love Craig.
12:43Yeah, I think you're trying to do the thing where it's like, oh, no, we've had two Masters
12:46champions in a row.
12:47There couldn't be a third one.
12:48Sure.
12:49But here we are.
12:50Yeah.
12:50Yeah, he's a champ.
12:52The great Lucius Alexander.
12:53The Craig Wood.
12:54That sounds like a Toyota dealership name.
12:56Come on, the Craig Wood Toyota.
13:00No for the third time.
13:02No for the third time.
13:03Oh, no.
13:03Come on, no.
13:04I'm going to go with, yes, he's got a club named after him.
13:08Oh.
13:09Oh, no.
13:10Let's see what you're doing.
13:11Oh, Craig 3 Wood.
13:13Craig Wood.
13:15In the year.
13:16No.
13:16Wow.
13:181941.
13:19Don't do that, Bladis.
13:21Craig Wood did win the Masters Championship.
13:24Winner!
13:25Thank you, Brian.
13:25Thank you, guys.
13:26Christy's Corner.
