00:00How can you not be romantic about a burger bomb or two?
00:04What'd you call it, a double patty?
00:06Double patty earlier today?
00:08Wasn't proud of it, but yeah, I did.
00:09Hey, listen, be proud.
00:11Be proud of that, man.
00:12It was a four burger.
00:13He had four runs batted in.
00:14Yeah, when it sticks, when it sticks two hours later in that brain,
00:18this brain doesn't work very well.
00:20When it sticks in it, it means something.
00:22Rangers get the 8-1 victory over the swinging A's who had won five straight.
00:29Yeah.
00:29They had a nice little run.
00:31They were in first for a second.
00:32Yep.
00:32The entire American League, I don't know if you've taken a real hard look
00:37at the American League standings, but nobody is more than three games over 500.
00:42We're almost 20 games in.
00:44We're 17 games in.
00:45Wow.
00:46And Minnesota and Cleveland are 10-7, and the Yankees and Orioles are 9-7,
00:52and the Rangers are 9-7, and then nobody else.
00:55That's it.
00:57That's the only teams that are more than one game over 500 in the entire American League.
01:04Meanwhile, you've got the Dodgers at 12-4, and Pittsburgh and San Diego at 10-6.
01:09I mean, it's so early to even look at the standings,
01:12but the Rangers get an 8-1 victory, and with that seven-run victory, Bobby,
01:17their run differential goes up to plus 11.
01:20Hey.
01:21Worst.
01:21Not bad.
01:22Lowest run differential for any division leader.
01:25We could leave that part out.
01:26Yeah, we don't have to talk about that.
01:27All right.
01:28But a really nice start from Nate Ivaldi.
01:31Really, really nice start, and they needed it.
01:33They needed it from him.
01:34They needed him to go deep into the game.
01:36He did.
01:37So they go seven innings with Nate, seven strikeouts, two walks, three hits,
01:43no earned runs.
01:44And I haven't really looked at how that park plays in terms of whether it's a pitcher's
01:52park or a hitter's park.
01:53If it's a hitter's park, hell yeah for Nate.
01:56But either way, you know, he had a really nice outing.
01:59And one thing that is evident about the Rangers is that offense plays so much better
02:04away from home.
02:05Can we sign up?
02:06And would you sign up for the rest of the games we played on the road?
02:09I think I would at this point.
02:10I think I would sign up to just play the home games at the old ballpark.
02:14Get that jet stream going just for a couple games.
02:17How much did they move that to football only?
02:19Can you play a baseball game in there at all?
02:22I mean, you know, the Raiders and stuff used to play with a baseball field right in the
02:26middle of their stuff.
02:27So no matter, you can make it work if you needed to.
02:29I think they should have an option once a year to just go play games over there to get them
02:34out of a hitting slump.
02:35It'll be nice.
02:36So a four-game set, they get game one.
02:39It'll be Gore and Jeffrey Springs today.
02:42We've got to ask Boone about that tomorrow.
02:44He can tell us now that he's not working for them.
02:47Like, I know you've said it gets in guys' heads before, but like, what does it do?
02:52Like, how different is it and how much worse is it to hit in Arlington versus other stadiums?
02:58Yeah.
02:59I mean, it has to play somewhat with their heads because that's just the reality of it.
03:06And, you know, we'll discuss this a little bit more in True False.
03:09Because they're not facing bums on the road right now.
03:13The Dodgers, the Athletics, we're playing well.
03:16You know, they face good pitching with the Dodgers.
03:17You know, Glass now and, you know, Rokey.
03:21Having lived with both, the, like, one of the best hitter's parks in baseball for a stretch
03:27and then one of the worst hitter's parks, I think I do prefer the hitter's park.
03:32As tough as it's going to be and you're going to end up giving up some runs, I just, I
03:36do
03:36think that, especially with this team and this staff that they have and the way that
03:40they are able to pitch, I think I'd prefer being able to just get a little extra juice
03:43for the lineup.
03:43It was maddening in its own right.
03:46You know, in its own way, it was maddening to watch.
03:49I mean, no lead was safe.
03:51The ball gets up in the right field, just hits that jet stream.
03:55Seager would hit 50 home runs in that ballpark.
03:57Oh, absolutely.
04:00Not even a question about it.
04:03And by the way, the fans, there are still, there are still a handful of Ranger fans holding
04:08on to the, there's nothing wrong with the park.
04:11This is totally fake.
04:13Oh, if it's totally fake, then why does the team not hit there?
04:15And why are no runs scored there?
04:17Like, none.
04:18They sound like the NFL talking about turf.
04:20Right.
04:21What was it?
04:22What'd you say in the last series, they scored eight total runs or last homestand?
04:27Yeah.
04:27Homestand they scored eight runs.
04:28It was six games.
04:30And here they score in eight runs a night.
04:31Yeah, I think it's 55 runs in 10 games on the road versus 12 runs in six games at home.
04:37Hello.
04:38That to me is a, is a bit of a, that's a red flag right there.
04:42So Gore Springs today, 840 coverage, eight o'clock right here on the fan.
04:48Thank God they're not starting at 915 like they used to in Oakland.
04:51They're doing an 840 start or Sacramento, where they're playing now.
04:54How about a little...
04:55Fan text is all the same, by the way, this is thought of as a hitter's park.
04:58Oakland or Sacramento?
04:59Yep.
05:00Yeah, I mean, maybe they've got some elevation there.
05:03It's close to Tahoe.
05:04I don't know.
05:05A little MLB true or false, shall we?
05:08Let's just continue with the stadium here.
05:11The Rangers' home park, not the hitters, is the biggest problem with the offense.
05:16Overreaction.
05:17I'm not going to give them the excuse right now until I get Bassick and Sandler and Boone hammering it
05:23into my head that that is the main reason.
05:25I'm not going to give them that pass.
05:28So, yeah, it's an overreaction because they're still not scoring as much as the other teams, even with their pitching
05:35staff.
05:35So there's clearly something wrong with the lineup at home.
05:39The lineup in general.
05:40They're just not consistent right now.
05:42But, yeah, so far when they've been on the road, it's looked really, really good.
05:46It's just I think that's more a consistency issue with their lineup than anything.
05:49But, yeah, they're not – even when they're on, they're probably going to average more runs on the road because
05:53it is a pitcher's park.
05:56Yeah, I think it's in their head.
05:58I think it's in their head a little bit, which probably could play into a –
06:02But you don't think it's an overreaction?
06:04I don't think so.
06:05Give me the pie breakdown of talent, stadium, problem at home.
06:10What is it?
06:11I want to hear it from you.
06:14You think it's 50-50?
06:16No, I think it's 55-45.
06:2055 stadium?
06:2160-40 stadium.
06:23Wow.
06:23Wow.
06:24Wow.
06:25Okay.
06:26But the other teams have to hit in it, too.
06:28And they don't –
06:29But, I mean, they're scoring more than your offense.
06:32Yeah, they are.
06:33But it's a hit it and quit it, right?
06:34They come in for three days.
06:35They don't –
06:35Can you look up in the past two years now, pitching is going to be a big component of this.
06:42Stadium, runs scored in stadiums.
06:45Over the past two years.
06:46I'd like to know where the globe ends up.
06:48Oh, yeah.
06:48We can find that.
06:49Because if they're top five, if they're top ten, then it's not the stadium.
06:56It's more so the talent.
06:57Then, for sure.
06:58Runs given up per ballpark.
07:00That's that.
07:01Over the past two years or since the globe has been in existence.
07:04And opening it creates more or less offense of the roof.
07:07We've always heard more.
07:09Okay.
07:09But, again, I mean, like, something changed.
07:13Something changed a couple years ago because that ball used to travel much better than it did now, than it
07:17does now.
07:18I've never seen this, like, a shift in the way the ball carries out of a ballpark that's closed.
07:23It's so bizarre.
07:24It really is.
07:25The bullpen is better than you thought it was going to be.
07:29Not an overreaction.
07:30They're really good.
07:31Yeah.
07:31Although, it was, like, the top three in the ERA last year.
07:35Pei-Pei, real quick, has the stat on the stadiums.
07:37Give it to us.
07:38So, this is per StatMuse.
07:40It's the Rangers ranked 18th in Major League Baseball with 683 runs total in their own ballpark in 2024.
07:47And then 2025, I believe they were 22nd here with 684 runs in their ballpark.
07:55It's almost identical amount of runs.
07:57So, that's...
07:58Bottom half of the league in both years.
08:00Yeah.
08:00So, that's less runs scored.
08:02So, like, that would play into the stadium being a problem.
08:07A problem.
08:07An offensive hurdle.
08:08Yeah.
08:09And we'd have to see how many runs they scored on the road, you know, in those years.
08:12Yeah.
08:14But that's runs scored in the ballpark, Peyton?
08:16Not just the Rangers runs, right?
08:17I believe it said it because I put in which will be stadiums have scored the most runs in their
08:21own ballpark.
08:23Do you have the very top?
08:24Like, which one has given up the most runs?
08:27Yeah, that has to be combined because there's no way the Rangers scored 683 runs at home.
08:31That means they scored over 1,200 runs for the year.
08:34Gotcha.
08:35The StatCast has park factor, which is basically, like, how much does it contribute?
08:40The Rangers' ballpark is second to last in Major League Baseball in terms of being a benefit for the pitcher.
08:46Wow.
08:46All right.
08:47There you go.
08:48Back to the bullpen.
08:48All right.
08:49So, yeah.
08:50Because, like, last year's bullpen was good, too.
08:52We didn't think of it as good, but their ERA, their bullpen ERA, I should say, was pretty good.
08:56Oh, yeah.
08:57It's – this is way better than I expected it to be.
09:00Yeah.
09:01I mean, we're – especially after the opener.
09:04You know, after the first couple of games where you got guys blowing saves,
09:07it seems like we found a back end of the bullpen.
09:10Yeah, because I'm trying to see here.
09:12So, Colwyn, Junis, who else?
09:17Chris Martin.
09:20Beaks, Junis, and Wynn have combined for, like, it's 23 innings and they haven't allowed a run.
09:27Woo!
09:27Wow.
09:28All right.
09:29True or false?
09:31Brandon Nimmo, not Wyatt, not Seager, will be the best player on this team this year.
09:38Mmm.
09:40If we're doing it in the typical style of, is it an overreaction?
09:43It's not.
09:45Right.
09:45Will he be – I would – I can't – no.
09:50I'll say no.
09:50But it's not an overreaction.
09:52It's a discussion.
09:52I still think Seager's a stud.
09:55I agree.
09:55I think the way you're saying it is absolutely right.
09:58Like, yeah, it'll be a discussion, but at the end of the day, I would still say Seager would have
10:03a better year.
10:04It'll depend on games played, too.
10:06Absolutely.
10:06I mean, Wyatt's hurt.
10:08Nimmo plays 150, and there's no reason to think that Seager will.
10:13Nimmo's a perfect leadoff hitter.
10:14He's a catalyst.
10:15I mean, he is involved with every rally, it seems.
10:18Yeah.
10:18Every rally.
10:19But I'll say it will end up being false.
10:21Which his career – right now his OPS is 957.
10:23His career high was in 2020 in those 55 games, and it was 888.
10:29Woo!
10:30All right.
10:30Evan Carter is starting to remind you of the guy we had in October of 2023.
10:35Yes.
10:35Not an overreaction.
10:37More so.
10:38Yeah.
10:38It's not back to the magic yet of where he was –
10:42When he was full count Carter.
10:44Still the worst nickname in the history of sports.
10:47Just the dumbest nickname.
10:50But it's something where he looks like he's more on the right track,
10:55and that's just as much as the injury I was starting to worry about between the years.
11:00And it looks like he's settled down.
11:02Feels like, to me, he's hitting better than 213.
11:06It does.
11:07It does.
11:07He's hitting the ball in the nose.
11:09I mean, he's gotten a little bit – some unlucky –
11:12Yeah, because he has no multi-hit games this month, which I'm shocked by.
11:17Yeah.
11:18I'm very surprised.
11:18It's one hit.
11:19It's also – I think it's also the approach of just, like, he's not –
11:24his eye looks like it's back to where it was,
11:26because last year it looked like he kind of got out of sorts with his approach at the plate.
11:30He looks better this year with that,
11:32and I think it's just you don't feel like he's having as many bad at-bats.
11:36I'd like to take a look at his BABIP, batting average on balls and play,
11:41see if that kind of checks with what a 213 hitter –
11:46It's his batting average on balls and plays, 300.
11:50That seems low.
11:52That seems very low.
11:54And that would – that would kind of –
11:56Because he's 10 – yeah, he's 10 for 33.
11:58Because it's, what, the 47 at-bats minus the 14 strikeouts.
12:01Right, that would equate to, you know, why he has a low batting average.
12:04All right, a little bit of true-false overreaction or not.
12:07Average batting average on balls and plays around 300, according to Google.
12:10That's the average one?
12:11According to Google.
12:12Okay, so the next one here.
12:14The ABS system is great for the game.
12:19Not an overreaction.
12:20It is.
12:21Have you enjoyed it?
12:22Yep.
12:23There's a little drama to it?
12:25Yeah.
12:25It's the tennis replay challenge.
12:28Yeah.
12:28The VAR for soccer.
12:29Fantastic.
12:30It gives me even more confidence in batters.
12:33Like, they absolutely know the zone.
12:36Yeah.
12:36Because more often than not, when I've been watching, I'm like, the hitter's been proven
12:40correct.
12:40I'll tell you this.
12:41You know, I was watching –
12:42Right on the outside strike zone.
12:44That's the games I've watched.
12:45They had some – they had some video footage of this yesterday on MLB Network.
12:51And the amount of catchers that have been able to get a correct strike or ball based on three-tenths
13:00of an inch.
13:02It's like, God – first of all, for the umpire to be that close.
13:05And second of all, for you to be able to tell a ball's three-tenths of an inch – not
13:09an inch
13:10and three – a three-tenths of an inch off the plate or high?
13:15It's good for the game.
13:17I don't know if it's like one of these, like – to me, it's not as significant an addition
13:21as, like, the pitch clock.
13:22But it is really, really good.
13:24I think it's good.
13:24It's just a tier below what the pitch clock did for baseball.
13:27And final one, piggybacking on this, they should not go to full-on robot umps.
13:33They should not.
13:34No.
13:35Why?
13:36Because just like we use review in other areas where we have officials making judgment
13:40calls, I think that should be – it just feels like such a leap, especially for a sport
13:45that got so accused of playing the game on a calculator after Moneyball.
13:50If you were to, like, go to automated balls and strikes, I think that would do damage.
13:53I agree.
13:53I'm fine with keeping human element.
13:55Same.
13:55Diamond Cavs with RJ Choppy with some Rangers true or false.
