11 May - National morning forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk.
Transcript
00:00Good morning.
00:01It's a fresh start in the south and a cold start across Scotland but in between we do
00:06have a weather front bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain initially across Northern Ireland
00:10then pushing into Wales, into the Midlands and the far east of East Anglia.
00:15It sinks its way southwards turning patchy in nature so not amounting to too much and
00:20eventually reaching the south of England as we head and end Monday evening.
00:24To the north though, many places are seeing a good deal of sunshine through Monday, plenty
00:30of blue sky but it is still feeling cool out there.
00:34We have a brisk northerly wind as well so across eastern coast in particular that will take
00:39the edge off those temperatures actually feeling more like 5 or 6 degrees.
00:44So for all of us temperatures are below average for this time in May.
00:49As we head through the evening time, plenty of late evening sunshine, some showery outbreaks
00:54of rain clearing the south coast, a few showers across East Anglia but across much of southern
00:59England.
00:59That's where we hold on to the lengthiest clear skies tonight.
01:03To the north west we have another system approaching, so cloud thickening across much of Scotland
01:08and Northern Ireland to bring again just some showery outbreaks of rain and behind that clear
01:14spells and showers.
01:16But given the cloud and rain it will actually be a milder night as we start Tuesday morning
01:21rain across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:23But to the south of that, across East Anglia and much of the south east of England, that's
01:28where we could see a touch of frost.
01:30So a colder night to come, do take care if you are a gardener and protect those plants.
01:37As we start Tuesday morning then, plenty of sunshine though.
01:40First thing across the south east.
01:42That won't last too long, we will start to see this frontal system just sinking its way
01:47southwards.
01:48We'll introduce more in the way of cloud and a few spots of rain.
01:51Again, not amounting to too much just across the Midlands into the home counties and East
01:56Anglia.
01:56Behind that turning brighter, sunny spells developing and showers.
02:01These most frequent across western parts of Scotland.
02:03A few heavy ones developing inland and also with the risk of some snow over the mountains.
02:10Otherwise, ahead of that cold front, we will see temperatures climbing perhaps 16 or 17
02:15degrees but otherwise around 13 or 14 in the north.
02:20And then as we head into midweek, it is a case of blustery showers through Wednesday.
02:25Temperatures still struggling below average for the time of year and that theme continues
02:30as we head into Thursday too.
02:32But for more details on that, if you are watching this on YouTube, make sure to hit subscribe

02:38And I'll see you soon.
02:39Bye bye.
