00:00Welcome to your afternoon weather update from the Met Office. If you're watching on YouTube,
00:04please do hit subscribe. More sunshine to come for most of us over the next few days. Why? Well,
00:10here's the reason why. Chunky area of high pressure sitting across us through high pressure,
00:14the air is generally sinking. Notice though there is this weather front and that is providing
00:19some thicker cloud over parts of southern Scotland and northern England, the far north
00:23of England in particular. So it's not gloriously sunny everywhere in this zone. It is likely
00:28to stay a little drab. We've seen a few showers earlier today over Shetland. They're fading away,
00:33so some sunny spells here. A brighter day compared to yesterday for Northern Ireland and, of course,
00:37much of the south. Lots of sunshine. Still a bit of a breeze blowing across the southwest,
00:42but not quite as gusty as yesterday. Now, it's not quite as warm as yesterday either,
00:47but still pretty warm for the time of year. Feels very pleasant in the afternoon sunshine across
00:52the south. Where we've got that thicker cloud, the grayer skies, it is on the coolish side,
00:5810 or 11 Celsius for southeast Scotland and the far northeast of England. But elsewhere,
01:03temperatures easily getting into the mid-teens. One or two places could get up to 18 or 19,
01:07particularly West Wales or northwest England. Now, as you go through the night, not a great deal
01:11will happen. Obviously, those temperatures will take a bit of a dip. The clouds will kind of linger
01:16through the first half of the night, and particularly across northeast England, may still be there first
01:21thing in the morning. But it is tending to break up. Well, we've got clear skies and light winds.
01:25Well, the nights are still long enough for those temperatures to tumble down close to freezing.
01:31Certainly some pockets of frost likely in rural spots. Most towns and cities just getting into
01:35low single digits. A fresh start to Friday, but another largely sunny day to come. There will be this
01:42cloud over parts of eastern England. It should break up as we go through the day,
01:46but it may take a while. A brighter day, though, for southeast Scotland. More sunshine here.
01:51Some cloud just threatening at times to push into the northern and the western isles. But most places,
01:57as I say, dry and sunny. And again, it will feel pretty warm in that sunshine. The winds are fairly
02:03light, just subtly switching direction. And once we've lost the cloud, temperatures really jumping up
02:08over northeast England and eastern Scotland. Quite a bit warmer here on Friday compared to today.
02:15Further south, still very pleasant, but temperatures a degree or so down on today's at 14 or 15. So this
02:21map is showing the temperatures for Friday when compared to Thursday. So notice that big jump up.
02:26It will feel quite a bit warmer across the far northeast of England and eastern Scotland compared
02:32to today. But still elsewhere, plenty of warm sunshine to be had too. Now about thickening clouds may just
02:39bring a few spots of rain towards the westerners and increasing breeze later on on Friday. Is that
02:44going to spoil the weekend? Well, not really. Eventually, we may see things changing into next
02:50week. But much of the weekend set fair, dry and fine. For more on that, you'll want to watch our
02:53full
02:54weekend forecast. Another reason to hit subscribe. That'll be available by Thursday afternoon.
