00:00Hello there, good afternoon.
00:02Well, we've got something in the forecast that we haven't seen for a long while and
00:05that's actually some rain.
00:07There's not going to be a lot of it and not everywhere is going to see it.
00:10Across much of the south and southeast, for example, it's going to be another very dry
00:14day with some intense sunshine, feeling very warm in that sunshine too.
00:18But across much of the north, a cloudier picture, some spells of rain, certainly across Northern
00:22Ireland and northwest England, a few showers around coastal areas of Scotland.
00:27And after quite a windy start, there's still going to be a bit of a breeze around, especially
00:31around coasts and hills, but much lighter than what we saw this morning.
00:35Notice the split in temperatures as well.
00:37Much of the south and southeast, a very warm day, highs reaching around 28 to 29 degrees
00:42Celsius here.
00:43But much of the north, a little bit cooler, a little bit fresher behind the rain, highs
00:47around 18 to 19 degrees Celsius here.
00:51Now to finish off the day, there'll be some late evening sunshine across parts of the south,
00:56eventually clouding over from the northwest as the night goes on.
00:59Still some spells of rain, another band of rain actually pushing into the northwest.
01:03This could turn quite heavy across hills of Scotland.
01:06Once again, the breeze starting to pick up as the heavy band of rain moves through as well.
01:11Even across Wales and southwest England, they'll see some spells of rain through the early hours
01:15of Sunday.
01:16But with the cloudier skies, that means temperatures aren't going to drop too low.
01:20Many areas of the south and southeast still holding on to around 17 to 18 degrees Celsius,
01:25a little bit cooler across parts of Scotland.
01:28Now into Sunday, it's certainly going to be a change for many areas.
01:31A very wet start across parts of the north.
01:34That main band of rain clearing away and then plenty of scattered showers following on behind.
01:39Even central areas of England, parts of Wales will see some showers.
01:43First thing, some of the south will see a few isolated showers.
01:47But by the afternoon, most of them will have cleared away.
01:49So another dry afternoon ahead across much of southern England.
01:54Feeling much fresher compared to what we'll see this afternoon though.
01:58Highs only reaching around 24 to 25 degrees Celsius here.
02:01So still warm, pleasant, but not quite as hot as this afternoon.
02:05And still that fresher feel across much of the north.
02:07Highs here between 17 to 19 degrees Celsius.
02:12So there is some rain in the forecast.
02:14This comes after a very dry summer.
02:16But notice if we take a look at the rainfall totals behind me.
02:19Much of that rain is across Scotland, Northern Ireland,
02:22northern parts of England and also some spots of Wales.
02:25Actually, by the time we reach the afternoon,
02:27still much of the south remains very dry.
02:30So not creating much of a dent in the very dry summer that we've had so far.
02:34And there's still not much sign of any significant rainfall to move through
02:39as we progress into next week.
02:41We have a slight westerly flow, which allows low pressure to move into the northwest,
02:45which may bring some cloud, some further outbreaks of rain here.
02:48But much of the south still holds onto high pressure.
02:51And as it continues to build across the near continent,
02:53we follow that wind direction around in a clockwise direction,
02:57picking up a bit of a southerly.
02:58So we're going to be picking up some more heat from nearby Europe.
03:02And that means temperatures are also going to be increasing day by day.
03:05And there's the potential to see the fourth heat wave of the summer.
