00:00Hello, a very wet day for quite a few of us. Not just wets, but also pretty windy.
00:06The reason? Well, it's kind of twofold. The beautiful view from space.
00:10I showed this yesterday. A beautiful swirl of cloud, air of low pressure up to the northwest.
00:15The weather front that brought the rain yesterday, that's cleared through.
00:18But look at this. It drags back down. It's got what we call a little wave on it.
00:23These are notoriously tricky to pin down and can still give us a few headaches.
00:29But this one is now already bringing the rain into the southwest.
00:32This wave is bringing heavy rain over parts of southern England and south Wales.
00:36And that's likely to cause some further disruption.
00:38We have Met Office yellow warnings in place.
00:40But it doesn't stop there, spreading across the Midlands down into northern England.
00:44Much of eastern Scotland will be dry today.
00:46But western Scotland, northern Ireland see another line of rain moving in here that could be quite heavy.
00:52The winds will be picking up around western coast, already very gusty along the south coast of England.
00:57With lively winds continuing here well into the evening time.
01:01It is bringing milder air with it, so temperatures continue to be above average.
01:05Only single figures in northeast Scotland, but elsewhere in the south, 11, 12 degrees.
01:09But it doesn't feel all that mild because of the wind and of the rain.
01:12Which will, as I say, continue into the evening.
01:14Particularly gusty across the southeast.
01:17A lot of spray, a lot of surface water on the roads for the evening commute.
01:20Could be some flooding too.
01:22And then further west, this narrower band of rain starts to move back into Wales and southwest to England for a time through the evening as well.
01:29Should be turning a bit drier during the rush hour across northern Ireland.
01:33Then we'll have a brief gap before that band of rain swings its way from west to east.
01:37And then something drier for most of us as we go through the early hours.
01:41Some lengthy clear spells over the Midlands and eastern England in particular.
01:45Further west, well, it'll be clear at times.
01:48But there'll be showers zipping through on the fairly brisk wind.
01:51That wind will stop temperatures dropping too far.
01:54A bit cooler than recent nights, down to 4 or 5 degrees in some urban areas.
01:59Overall, Fridays are much drier and a much brighter day.
02:03Many of us will see some sunshine, certainly over eastern and southern England.
02:06By and large, a fine winter's day.
02:08Just a little breezy.
02:10Quite gusty still around western coast.
02:11And there will be a few showers zipping across Wales.
02:14Plenty of showers for the north of Northern Ireland.
02:16And lots of showers across Scotland from the central belt northwards.
02:19The showers will come and go all day.
02:21So still quite wet here.
02:22But elsewhere, I say many places much drier tomorrow.
02:26Much brighter day with some sunshine.
02:28And the breeze, although noticeable, will continue to ease down through the day.
02:32Temperatures similar to today's values.
02:33So again, touch above average for the time of year as it has been for most of December.
02:39And it's probably feeling, though, a little more pleasant than today because there will be more sunshine.
02:44And it won't be chucking it down with rain as it will be for most today.
02:47Through the evening time, many places stay dry and keep some clearer skies.
02:51Behind me, there is another weather front, another band of rain approaching.
02:55That is going to mix things up into the weekend.
02:58But it's also going to kind of grind to a halt.
03:00More on that in Aidan's full weekend update, available on our YouTube channel on Thursday afternoon.
03:07That is very, very much fun at all.
