00:00Setting Nick straight here, quarterback does not matter, does not affect the left tackle,
00:07especially when it comes to where they're going to play.
00:10I would say advantage Browns as far as offensive line coach goes, as far as being able to walk
00:20in from day one and play, not having to really prove yourself.
00:25Joe Thomas made the Pro Football Hall of Fame, blocking for nearly two dozen different quarterbacks.
00:32He made All-Pro almost every single year, again, blocking for nearly two dozen quarterbacks.
00:38I'm right, you're wrong. You have to come over to my side right now, Nick.
00:42Just give me this one, and we'll move on.
00:45Not doing it. Not doing it.
00:47Because you're comparing two different, completely different.
00:50No, I'm not.
00:51The situation is pretty much the same.
00:55It's not the same.
00:57There was never once a time where Joe Thomas would have had to put Penn and Faber on a proven
01:02deal.
01:02The Browns quarterback situation today is the exact same as it was for Joe Thomas' 11-year career.
01:09And Joe Thomas made the playoffs how many times in that 11-year career?
01:12None.
01:13Right.
01:14And he still made the Hall of Fame.
01:18I'm right. I know I'm right.
01:20You're not.
01:21You're literally fighting a losing battle is the textbook definition of what's going on here.
01:26And it's just, it's a little amusing to me.
01:28Carolina, yeah, I mean, they just made the playoffs.
01:30They were a below 500 team.
01:32Congratulations to them.
01:33Their stay in the playoffs was as long as the Pittsburgh Steelers.
01:37And I think offensively.
01:39Who's their quarterback in Carolina that's just, who's the big attraction?
01:43Who's the big attraction for them Panthers?
01:46The fact that they know who the starter is going to be.
01:49No, that's not the correct answer.
01:51And it's Bryce Young.
01:53He's the big attraction.
01:54Bryce Young, big attraction.
01:56Big free agency attractor.
01:57How about this?
01:58How about this?
01:59Known starter, Bryce Young.
02:02Not big attraction.
02:03Known starter, Bryce Young.
02:05Again.
02:06Versus Cleveland, where you have no known starter.
02:09And you could have a Ted coach that might be David Cully if this year doesn't go well.
02:13Listen.
02:16Tyson Howard.
02:18Now, he really didn't have a say in the matter because he was traded.
02:20Titus Howard.
02:22Titus Howard, rather.
02:24Zion Johnson.
02:26You think Zion Johnson was all that worried about who the Browns quarterback's going to be?
02:31No.
02:32Zion Johnson got a four-year deal, not a one-year deal.
02:34Right.
02:35Well, he actually got a three-year deal, but, you know.
02:37If he was looking at a one-year deal, he probably wouldn't have come here.
02:42Elton Jenkins.
02:42Do you think he was concerned who the quarterback here was?
02:45Two-year deal.
02:48Quincy Williams.
02:49I know I don't play offense, but do you think he cares who the quarterback is?
02:52Two-year deal.
02:53And I love Mike Rutenberg.
02:55Corey Bohorquez.
02:56Do you think he cares who the quarterback is?
02:58Actually, he does because he, I guess, wants more opportunities to punt.
03:01And he very well may get them this year.
03:03All right.
03:05I'm not convinced Corey's going to be the punter.
03:07How about this?
03:08Do you think Jack Stoll cared who the quarterback is?
03:10You want to get in a debate?
03:11The great Jack Stoll?
03:13I'm not convinced Corey's going to be the punter this year.
03:16Wait, what?
03:17That dollar amount on the contract came in lower than what I thought.
03:20I think it's like only $2 million.
03:21Yeah, so?
03:22Average going market for punters are like three.
03:25Okay.
03:25So you took a million dollars less if they decide to bring in.
03:29That's all the more reason.
03:29It's job security.
03:30You took a big cut.
03:31If they decide to bring in a UDFA, they hit magic.
03:35And Lance is going to love this.
03:36I hope Lance is up and listening.
03:37He's not.
03:38The Syracuse well of kickers and punters paid dividends for Andre Schmidt.
03:44Could they get somebody like a Jack Stonehouse, undrafted free agent punter out of Syracuse, reunite Schmidt-Stonehouse together?
03:54Save a couple bucks?
03:56Andrew Barry, laser eyes.
03:57Your quarterback might be getting paid $50 million to hold a clipboard.
04:02Michael, he really should have let me buy him breakfast this morning.
04:06I can't believe we're having punter discussion at 846 on Sunday.
04:10Daryl wants to debate if Rasheed Walker's even in the same conversation as Joe Thomas.
04:16That's not what he's talking about.
04:17If we're in the market for silly debates and silly conversations, I'll sit here and debate punters.
04:21For the next three hours.
04:23It's 100%.
04:24It's not what I'm talking about.
04:27Hey, Cam, do you think Corey Borges is going to be the punter this year?
04:30I'm willing to go there.
04:33I just...
04:35Someone had too much NyQuil.
04:38Probably should have taken the NyQuil.
04:40I think he's still salty that the Flash has lost the other night.
04:43He's really grumpy this morning.
04:45He really is.
04:46I'm not grumpy.
04:47I offered to buy him breakfast this morning.
04:50I bought you breakfast this morning.
04:52Like, he's just grumpy as can be.
04:54It's Sunday morning.
04:55I'm not grumpy.
04:56People are waking up from their Saturday night.
04:59I am not grumpy.
05:00Listen, judging by how loud downtown was last night, there are a lot of folks that are, you know,
05:07they're probably coming off a little bit of a, you know, hangover.
05:12And you're over here just being, you know, Mr. Grumpy Pants.
05:17I can't even think of one thing I've been grumpy.
05:19The only thing that I'll give you that I was grumpy about...
05:21I don't know, should we go back and play the first five minutes of the show?
05:23The Deshaun Watson thing.
05:25I was grumpy about Deshaun.
05:26I don't want him to be the quarterback.
05:27Okay, let's play the first 15 minutes of the show back.
05:29All right, we're two for two.
05:29That's the only thing I'll give you.
05:31You're saying I'm grumpy about the...
05:33You're grumpy over the left tackle situation?
05:35You're grumpy over the...
05:36You want to talk about whether or not Corey Bohorkas is going to be the punter this year?
05:40Like, man...
05:41You're just having silly debate.
05:42You're debating Rasheed Walker versus Joe Thomas.
05:45You woke up on the wrong side of the bad.
05:47I don't think he ever was debating Rasheed Walker versus Joe Thomas.
05:50No!
05:51He was saying it was a similar situation.
05:53No, and it's not.
05:54The quarterback does not matter for the left tackle.
05:59All the left tackle cares about is blocking the dude in front of him
06:02and being able to be on the field for every play.
06:05Have that opportunity to play.
06:07He would have gotten that here.
06:08Or maybe he wouldn't because maybe Walker knew...
06:11Oh, yeah, the Browns have the No. 6 and the No. 24 pick.
06:14Yeah, they're probably going to use one of those picks on a left tackle
06:18and they're going to use the other pick on a wide receiver.
06:22Like, it's the worst kept secret in football
06:24that that's what the Browns' plan is in late April.
06:28Unless Ty Simpson's there.
06:31They're not taking time.
06:32Okay, all right, fine.
06:34You want silly debate?
06:35Here we go.
06:36Ty Simpson is worth taking yourself out of the 2027 NFL Draft quarterback derby.
06:48I personally don't think so.
06:50Okay, then why do you keep bringing up Ty Simpson?
06:52Well, I only think that he's worth taking yourself out of the 2027...
06:56Just because you're trying to poke the bear?
06:56You're trying to get me worked all up?
06:58No, because I don't view Deshaun Watson as a serious name in this quarterback mix.
07:03I personally don't.
07:06But yet you keep bringing him up like he's a tangible possibility.
07:11Which is what makes me think that Ty Simpson is a tangible possibility because they...
07:16Why?
07:16It felt like they barely pursued Malik Willis.
07:19It felt like they barely pursued Kyler Murray, who they could have traded for.
07:24They could have traded for him.
07:25You could have stopped him from going to Minnesota Vikings if you would have traded for Kyler.
07:29But they just decided we've got Shador.
07:31We've got Deshaun.
07:33Okay, let me explain how the NFL works, okay?
07:38First of all, they were not trading for Kyler Murray's contract, all right?
07:42Understand.
07:43The Minnesota Vikings are giving him the veteran minimum because the Arizona Cardinals are paying...
07:48...38 and something million.
07:49Okay?
07:49Got that.
07:50So here's how this works, all right?
07:53I'm Andrew Barry.
07:55You're going...
07:56Michael is going to be the player.
07:58And you're going to be the agent.
08:00Okay.
08:01Okay?
08:02I'm not talking to Michael.
08:04Michael, love you.
08:05Nothing against you.
08:06Right, you're talking to the agent.
08:09Nick, Kyler, Andrew Barry, Cleveland Browns, would Kyler be interested in coming to Cleveland
08:16playing for us this year?
08:18Probably not.
08:18We don't have a left tackle.
08:19Okay, now you're the agent for Malik Willis.
08:23Hey, Nick, Andrew Barry, Cleveland Browns here.
08:26No, Malik is a free agent here.
08:29We love everything about him.
08:31No, he doesn't have a lot of experience, but we love what we've seen on tape.
08:34Going to be our week one starter.
08:36Would Malik Willis like to come to Cleveland and play for the Cleveland Browns?
08:38Let me think about that.
08:39Well, considering the fact that I'm already taking your money for another one of my clients
08:44and Deshaun Watson, I'm going to have to say no.
08:46Because I'd rather just Deshaun Watson have your money.
08:48That's the end of the conversation.
08:49So you can't sit there and say, well, the Browns didn't pursue guys.
08:53No, they did.
08:54Instead, it takes two to tango.
08:56They have to be interested.
08:57Yeah, but you could agree.
08:59Dude, we just played that audio from Juice Landry on the podcast with Leonard Furnette.
09:03You could always talk to guys.
09:05Trust me.
09:06They publicly were out of the Deshaun Watson thing, and they found a way to work their
09:10happy ways right back into the Deshaun.
09:12Yeah, but I'm just telling you.
09:14If they really wanted Kyler Murray, if they really wanted Malik Willis, they could have
09:19pushed a little bit harder than how I think they pushed.
09:22And I think they're seriously, I think Munkin is seriously open to Shador V. Deshaun.
09:29Of course he is.
09:30That's why he took the job.
09:32If it goes south, though, you're David Cully.
09:34I mean.
09:34That's the reality of the situation.
09:36If it goes south, Munkin's one and done.
09:38If it goes south, Barry's gone, because the owner already knows which 2027 quarterback
09:44that he wants.
09:45And I'm just telling you, you can't say that the Browns had no interest in Kyler Murray,
09:54had no interest in Malik Willis, because that's not true.
09:59The non-interest was them.
10:02So then could that non-interest, the fact that they never got.
10:06You just said it.
10:07Malik Willis is agent.
10:08The same agent as Deshaun Watson.
10:10Right, that was never happened.
10:11Wasn't going to bring him to Cleveland.
10:13And we said that to me.
10:13We've said that for weeks that that wasn't happening.
10:15So then why are you holding that against the Browns?
10:18You can't hold that.
10:19I'm not holding it against the Browns.
10:20Here's why.
10:21Everybody that I talked to in Indianapolis, whether they were a media member, whether
10:26they were a front office staffer of a different AFC team, anybody that I talked to said
10:32that the Browns probably will just let Deshaun and Shador compete against somebody else.
10:39Who's that somebody else?
10:40Nobody knew.
10:41Maybe it would be Tua.
10:42Maybe it would be Kyler.
10:44Maybe it would be Malik.
10:45It would be Deshaun v.
10:47Shador v.
10:48Somebody else.
10:49Dylan Gabriel.
10:50Well, as we sit here after the first wave of free agency, that somebody else isn't apparent
10:56to us.
10:57Hmm.
10:58Well, why isn't it apparent to us?
11:00Maybe because they had somebody on a top 30 draft visit that just so happens to be the
11:07one quarterback that they can get in the first round of this draft because they're not
11:11going to get Fernando Mendoza.
11:13We know he's going to be the number one overall pick to the Las Vegas Raiders, and ever since
11:18Indianapolis, it feels like Munkin and Simpson have just been singing each other's happy
11:24old praises.
11:24The fact that Todd recruited Simpson to try to go to Georgia, and that was unsuccessful.
11:30He picked Bama, but his dad's a Southern Miss alum, so they've got this great relationship.
11:34Now I've got him on Kay Adams saying that he would want to throw footballs to Carnell Tate
11:39with the Cleveland Browns.
11:40What am I supposed to make all of this when I've got everybody telling me that it would
11:44probably be Shador versus Deshaun versus somebody else?
11:48It felt like in the first wave of free agency, they couldn't seriously land, whether they
11:53didn't try to, whether they didn't push hard enough, whether the agents just flat out told
11:58them no.
11:58They couldn't get that somebody else.
12:01It leads me to believe, and I wouldn't be surprised.
12:04I'm not saying that there's no chance.
12:05I'm not saying that it's definitely happening, but if we're sitting there at 24 overall and
12:11the commissioner approaches the stage and says Ty Simpson's name, I'd say, yup, there's
12:16just somebody else.
12:18Guys, I'm going to play a game with you next, okay?
12:24We're going to go Ty Simpson v. unknown quarterback.
12:31We're going to hash this out.
12:34Doesn't that make sense?
12:36As we talk through that out loud, and the fact that there was supposed to be somebody else
12:41and there currently is not somebody else, it's not going to be, I am very confident
12:46that it's not going to be Ty Simpson.
12:48I personally hope you're right.
12:51I don't see a world where the Browns are going to take themselves out of the 2027 NFL quarterback
13:01draft class.
13:03There is no world in which I feel like that's reality.
13:07The reason you bring him in on a top 30 visit, multifaceted one, confirm what you already
13:14know about him, two, get the file a little deeper so that in a couple of years, should
13:21Ty Simpson become available in free agency or on the trade market, and you want to explore
13:26that down the line, you say, hey, yo, Slappy, give me the Ty Simpson folder from 2026.
13:34Or, uh, let's, let's see what we, uh, we said, similarly to that they liked, if they didn't
13:42get to Sean Watson, they liked Kenny Pickett in 2021 last year, there was a file on Kenny
13:46Pickett, they last year, I believe of their top 30 visits, the Browns drafted four players.
13:54I believe the year before they drafted two or three, just because there's a top 30 visit
14:01does not mean the Browns are going to pick him.
14:05Okay.
14:06The timing of it, I will give you this, was very curious.
14:10It was right before free agency.
