00:04warns Environment Minister Arthur Joseph Kuroop.
00:07The minister said temperatures could reach up to 37.5 degrees Celsius,
00:12as the El Niño is expected to last from July through the first half of next year.
00:18Kuroop said current data shows rainfall could decrease by as much as 40% during this period,
00:24warning that this could disrupt agriculture, lower dam water levels and increase the risk of open burning and haze.
00:32Kuroop also said the effects of climate change were becoming increasingly evident,
00:38with many countries, including Malaysia, experiencing higher temperatures, erratic weather patterns and extreme rainfall.
00:46The minister added that the government is focusing on implementing its climate policies
00:51after completing the necessary planning framework.
