Koraput, Odisha – In a tragic accident, 22-year-old YouTuber Sagar Tudu (aka Sagar Kundu) from Berhampur was swept away by strong currents at Duduma Waterfall on August 23 while shooting drone footage for his channel.

Sagar, who had around 500 subscribers and focused on local culture, was filming with a friend when authorities at the nearby Machakunda dam released nearly 2,000 cusecs of water due to heavy rainfall. The sudden surge caught him off guard as he stood on a rock. Despite efforts by tourists and friends to pull him to safety with ropes, he was dragged away by the torrent.

Police, fire services and ODRAF teams immediately began search operations, but rescue efforts have been hampered by rough terrain and powerful waters. As of the latest updates, his body is yet to be traced.

The incident has reignited debate on the risks of “reel culture” and unsafe stunts at tourist sites. Locals are demanding stricter safety measures and barricades at Duduma, especially during monsoon releases. This is the second such tragedy at the falls in recent months.
