A shocking case has emerged from Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh district, where a woman allegedly escaped nearly 24 hours of illegal confinement by smashing an iron lock with a stone and walking to a police station with the chain still around her neck.

Mangibai Tanwar alleged that her husband tied her to a pillar with an iron chain, branded her with a red-hot iron rod and brutally assaulted her after returning home drunk. She claimed she broke the lock when he stepped out, crossed fields and isolated roads despite bleeding feet, and reached the police station, where officers removed the chain and sent her for medical examination.

Police have arrested the accused husband and registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
