00:00President of the National Association of Athletics and Administrations of Trinidad and Tobago is beaming with confidence following the conclusion
00:07of the Karifta trials on the weekend.
00:09Based on the performances, he says he is expecting more medals at Karifta in Grenada.
00:15At the last Karifta held in TNT, the home team grabbed the 25 medals.
00:19I think I was very happy, pleased with the event, efficiently managed, and we saw some great performances.
00:27And I think moving on to the rest of the year for other meets, I think even after the selection
00:34of the team for Karifta, I think we should be seeing a lot more medals, hopefully, at the games.
00:41He is expecting close to 70 athletes with a large number coming from the relays.
00:46But so far we have quite a few over to the 40 athletes.
00:50And then when we look at whether we are competitive with the relays, so like 4x1 and 4x4, both under
00:5717 and under 20, there is also a mix 4x4.
01:01So that could take the team size probably up to about 65-70 athletes.
01:06There were quite a few stellar performances with several athletes meeting the standard, but Saret had his picks for the
01:12top athletes of the competition.
01:14Any performance in particular that you were impressed with?
01:17Aidan Chihua, 400 and 200, what a talent.
01:22I mean, I expect big things from her moving on.
01:25She's actually 14 years old and performing and doing better performances than the under 20 athletes.
01:31The young guy, the young man who won the under 17, 200, Treveni, I think from Burnley, I think, you
01:39know, very, very outstanding performances over the weekend.
01:41Sergio Dufo, TV's Export.
