As World Athletics president Sabastian Coe was a present figure at the recent Carifta Games in Grenada.

The Brit, a legend himself at middle-distance with back-to-back gold medals at the Olympic Games in the 1500 meters, said World Athletics will continue to support the Carifta Games,

While identifying growth and exposure as two of the objectives for the regional event.

00:00The role of World Athletics is an enabling organisation and we work closely with the area associations.
00:07We support and fund the area associations to meet with the strategies and alignments that sit together in our strategic
00:16plan and our world plan.
00:19And obviously developing and nurturing those pathways for young talent is really important.
00:26In fact for the first few years of my presidency we really upped the support for CARIFTA and that was
00:36important.
00:37And Mike touched upon something which actually is a really important innovative first here.
00:44This is the first time that these events have been live streamed outside of the rights holding broadcasters
00:50within maybe six or seven territories including the US and Canada.
00:57And that's important. So the more people that have access to this, you know, to absorbing this young talent, the
01:06better it will be.
01:07That will also help, I hope in turn, with creating a platform for greater sponsorship and more interest
01:15because eyeballs are important and the more people that watch the sport, the better.
