00:00Hello there, good morning. We say hello to meteorological spring today, the 1st of March.
00:07And a change in our weather as well. We're starting to see Atlantic weather systems move in through today,
00:13bringing some stronger winds, outbreaks of rain, but also some higher temperatures as well.
00:18But it's all changed later on in the week. It looks like high pressure starts to build in to try
00:23and settle the weather down a little.
00:24So a cloudy start this morning across the whole of the country. Outbreaks of rain pushing north and eastwards as
00:30we move through the day.
00:32Some of this rain could be heavy at times over western hills, but for most of us, the rain will
00:37come and go, but it will often stay fairly cloudy.
00:39We could see a few cloud breaks developing, so a few bright or sunny spells for parts of the Midlands
00:44into Lincolnshire, East Anglia.
00:46But for most of us, it will remain cloudy and quite blustery as well.
00:51We'll see wind gusts coming in from the south, so we could see 30, 35 miles an hour.
00:56And then later on this afternoon, into the evening time, wind gusts associated with this rain coming into Northern Ireland,
01:02western Scotland,
01:03we could see gusts of 50, 55 miles an hour or so.
01:07But with a southerly direction to our airflow, we'll see highs above average for the time of year, reaching 13
01:13or 14 degrees in the south,
01:15around 9 to 12 degrees in the north.
01:19Into this evening time, we'll see the rain continue across Northern Ireland and Scotland.
01:24This could be particularly heavy at times in the west.
01:27We could see some local surface water issues taking us into Monday morning.
01:32The rain band just slowly pushes a little further eastwards by the end of the night, affecting western parts of
01:38England and Wales.
01:39Also, some clear skies ahead of this, but winds coming in from the south across the UK.
01:44We'll see temperatures overnight falling no lower than 6 to 9 Celsius for most of us, where they should be
01:51for the daytime for the beginning of March.
01:54So, a mixed picture on Monday.
01:57We have a weather system that's stalling across central parts of the UK.
02:00So, South East Scotland, Northern England, down into Wales, perhaps the Midlands and the West Country.
02:06It will remain cloudy here through the day with some outbreaks of rain.
02:10Either side of this, we'll see some brighter weather.
02:12The best of the sunshine across South East England, but also some sunny spells for Northern Ireland and the rest
02:18of Scotland as well.
02:20But a band of showery rain moving into the far northwest.
02:23A switch in the wind directions here.
02:25Coming in from a northwesterly direction across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland.
02:29Temperatures 9 or 10 degrees, but still a southerly component to the wind across England and Wales.
02:34And in any sunshine, 14, 15 degrees possible across South East England.
02:39So, a pleasant feel out there.
02:42High pressure then starts to try to build in from the east as we move through the week ahead.
02:47So, there should be plenty of sunny spells.
02:49The risk of some cloud and rain at times coming and going across parts of England and Wales.
02:53In particular, later on, perhaps across the northwest of the UK.
02:57And temperatures overall look set to remain above average.
03:01Particularly in the south, 14 or 15 Celsius possible in the best of the sunny spells.
