00:00Hello there, good morning. Welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office.
00:04We've seen a largely settled weekend so far. It's changing across the north of the UK and bigger changes as
00:11we head through the week ahead.
00:13We've generally have warm air across the UK at the moment, but by Tuesday and into Wednesday, something a little
00:19more autumnal on the way of temperatures receding back to near average for the time of year.
00:26But back to this morning, a chilly start, in fact, across much of England and Wales. Some dense mist and
00:32fog patches around. They should slowly clear.
00:34And then for many central southern parts of England, a lovely day to come. Plenty of sunshine. Sunshine perhaps turning
00:41hazy at times across parts of Wales, the Midlands, as the clouds slowly thickens.
00:45A different story further north. Northern Ireland, the far north of England, into much of Scotland, generally cloudy, with some
00:51showery outbreaks of rain.
00:53Rain most persistent across northern and western parts of Scotland, where it will turn increasingly heavy as we move through
00:59into this afternoon, particularly over the higher ground, accompanied by some strong and blustery winds, perhaps some gales around the
01:06coast as well.
01:07A bit of a north-south divide in temperatures as we move through into this afternoon.
01:11Generally, the high teens across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England, but into the sunshine across England and Wales,
01:18getting into the low 20s.
01:2023, maybe even 24 Celsius, in the best of the sunshine across south-east England.
01:26A fine end to the day here, but elsewhere, generally cloudier and the clouds slipping further south into parts of
01:32Wales as well, seeing some outbreaks of rain through the evening time.
01:35And overnight, further steady rain moving into north-west Scotland.
01:40And the rainfall totals building here over the course of 48 hours or so, we could see 50 locally 80
01:47to 100 millimetres of rain, which may lead to some disruption.
01:50Elsewhere, the rain a little more showery, still staying on the breezy side.
01:54So here, temperatures holding up generally in double figures, but under any clearer skies, further south and east, particularly southern
02:01counties of England, will dip into single figures with some mist and fog patches once more.
02:06So a bit of a grey start in places Monday morning across the south, and further grey skies further north
02:12and west as well, with showery outbreaks of rain.
02:14This weather front, though, is slowly pushing a little further southwards across Scotland through the day, with sunshine and showers
02:20following in across the far north, remaining fairly breezy here.
02:24For most, a rather cloudy day, but there'll be some bright or sunny spells that develop at times.
02:29The best of these, again, towards southeastern parts of England, and with the winds coming in from the south and
02:35warm air generally being drawn in, temperatures still well above average.
02:39The low 20s possible around 24 degrees there as a maximum temperature for London, generally across Norman Island, Scotland, the
02:47cloud and breezy conditions, outbreaks of rain, the high teens, still a little above average for the time of year.
02:55And then as the week goes on, it generally remains mixed.
02:58We'll see further spells of rain at times, but those temperatures will trend slowly downwards by Wednesday, much nearer to
03:05average for the time of year.
03:06So it's starting to feel more autumnal for all of us.
03:09And more details on this can be found on our website and our social media channels.
03:14See you again soon.
