00:00You'll have no doubt noticed the slightly fresher feel to things that we have at the moment compared to what
00:05we've had recently through much of this month, really.
00:08And that chillier theme is going to continue as we go into the weekend.
00:12Looking at the earliest satellite and radar imagery, we can see a big swathe of cloud that's due to a
00:17cold front that's made its way southeastwards across the country.
00:20But I wanted to highlight the high pressure that's building in from the west.
00:24It's this high that's going to quieten our weather down as we head into the weekend, but also bringing our
00:29air from the north, which is why it's a colder theme than it has been of late.
00:35Rain in the southeast at the moment, that's going to clear away.
00:37And so it's going to be drier here as we go through the afternoon, then through the morning.
00:42Elsewhere, we do have some showers coming in from the northwest.
00:44So initially northwestern parts will see frequent showers, but they will feed further south and eastwards as we go through
00:49the day.
00:50Perhaps some heavy ones, maybe the odd rumble of thunder, a little bit of small hail, especially towards the northwest
00:55of the country.
00:56It is going to be dry in between the showers with some sunny breaks.
01:00But as I mentioned, we have that fresher, colder air across us.
01:03So temperatures down markedly compared to recent days.
01:07They're still around or ever so slightly below average for the time of year.
01:10But yes, some places could be around 10 degrees colder than on Thursday.
01:16A few more showers to come through the evening, but with that high pressure building in from the west, most
01:21of the showers are going to die out.
01:23Just perhaps some lingering around western coast, more likely towards the east.
01:27That's where we're more likely to see some showers continuing overnight.
01:30Generally, though, a dry night, lots of clear skies around.
01:33And as a result, with the clear skies, the fresher air across us, well, yes, temperatures are going to drop.
01:39Most towns and cities holding up a few degrees above freezing.
01:42But rural areas, particularly across Scotland, maybe Northern Ireland, dropping close to, if not a few degrees below freezing.
01:49A fairly widespread rural grass frost across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, perhaps the north of England as well, first
01:56thing on Saturday morning.
01:56And there will also be some patches of mist and fog here and there.
02:00But yes, it will be a chilly, perhaps crisp start to the day tomorrow, but also quite a bright one
02:06for many places.
02:07In the east, some showers continuing overnight and perhaps becoming a bit more widespread across eastern areas through the day.
02:14Especially for East Anglia, perhaps some showers feeding towards London and Kent as well.
02:18They don't look particularly heavy, but perhaps some heavier ones at times.
02:22Elsewhere, generally dry.
02:24Lots of sunshine, especially for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland and western parts of England and Wales.
02:29A bit more cloud towards the east.
02:31We do have relatively strong winds across parts of the southeast.
02:34Elsewhere, the wind's not particularly strong.
02:36But if anything, temperatures on Saturday are going to be down a degree or so compared to Friday.
02:41So that chilly feel that I talked about, well, there's more of that to come, despite the fact that there
02:46will be plenty of sunshine.
02:49As we head into Sunday, another crisp night to come.
02:52Perhaps more frost across northern and western parts in particular.
02:55A bit wetter across eastern areas on Sunday compared to Saturday.
02:59More outbreaks of rain, especially for northeast in England.
03:02And some of that feeding into more central parts as well.
03:05Some of that rain across the southeast turning a little bit more persistent at times.
03:10Meanwhile, further west, well, it's another dry at times.
03:13Bright day, really.
03:14Lots of sunshine for much of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
03:16Just worth highlighting the potential for a bit of cloud, maybe some rain to push into the far northwest of
03:22Scotland, more likely later on.
03:24Temperatures are, again, around or a little bit below average for the time of year.
03:28Where you get the sunshine, that will help with the chilly feel.
03:32But in the southeast, where you're stuck under the cloud, the rain, some blustery winds here as well.
03:37Yes, it is going to feel much more like autumn, really, than it has done so far this season.
03:42We will, of course, be keeping you up to date with the forecast as we go through this weekend.
