00:00We've nearly made it to the weekend and what a weekend it's set to be.
00:04Definitely time to dig out those thicker jumpers because there's going to be a bit of a chilly feel to
00:09things.
00:09We have high pressure building in from the west.
00:12That's going to help clear away the showers that are around at the moment.
00:15It's also going to lead to cold air coming down from the north and the northeast through the weekend,
00:20which is why temperatures, if anything, are going to be a little bit below average for the time of year.
00:25That's quite a change to what we've seen through much of this month so far.
00:28But looking at the details, yes, plenty of showers around currently,
00:32but most of them will die out as that high pressure builds in from the west.
00:36That is, across eastern areas, I'm expecting the showers to continue through the night,
00:41but most places turning dry, lots of clear skies around,
00:44and as a result, with the clear skies and the fresher air, well, it is going to be a bit
00:48of a chilly night indeed.
00:49Across parts of Scotland, the rural areas' prone spots could drop a couple of degrees below freezing,
00:56a touch of air frost in some places in the north,
00:59a bit of grass frost quite widely in rural areas for northern parts.
01:04Slightly less chilly further south, especially in the east-southeast,
01:08with the brisk winds coming through.
01:10Those winds should stop temperatures from dropping especially low,
01:13but nonetheless, for many, it will be a crisp start to the day,
01:17and a few pockets of mist and fog here and there.
01:19But plenty of sunshine, plenty of sunshine through the morning,
01:22especially across central and western areas.
01:25Parts of England and Wales perhaps turning a bit cloudier as we go into the afternoon,
01:29and always in the east, more cloud here and further outbreaks of showery rain,
01:32especially across east Anglia, but some feeding into maybe London and Kent as well.
01:37More sunshine through the day across much of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:41Just need to bear in mind a few outbreaks of rain across the very far north-northwest of Scotland as
01:45well.
01:46Despite the fact that there will be some sunshine around,
01:49as I mentioned, there is a chilly feel to things.
01:51Temperatures a bit of below average for the time of year.
01:54Most places getting into double digits, but we're looking at low teens,
01:59possibly mid-teens, 15 Celsius.
02:01Seems like our highest temperature on Saturday.
02:04That's quite a drop compared to what we had earlier on in the week.
02:08The showery rain across eastern parts or southeastern parts of England.
02:12That will continue for a little while as we go through Saturday evening,
02:15and in fact overnight we're going to see more showery bursts of rain feeding into eastern areas of England in
02:20particular.
02:21Meanwhile, further west, we have another dry, clear night.
02:24And so if anything, temperatures through Saturday night are set to drop a little bit lower for these areas
02:30than they will do through Friday night.
02:32So perhaps a more widespread frost, more grass frost,
02:36particularly in rural areas for Scotland and Northern Ireland,
02:38and western parts of England and Wales could have a touch of frost in some places too.
02:42Eastern areas again, a bit more of a breeze, those showery bursts of rain with some cloud,
02:47keeping temperatures from dropping as low here.
02:49Then through Sunday itself, a bit of a wetter day across those eastern areas.
02:53More likely to see showery outbreaks of rain for parts towards Lincolnshire, Yorkshire,
02:58and other areas of northeast England,
03:00and more showers to come around East Anglia and feeding more into the Midlands as well.
03:04Further west for Wales, the west country, northwest England largely dry,
03:09but cloud developing through the day.
03:11But another largely sunny picture for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
03:14Just need to watch out for a front in the far northwest.
03:16That might bring a bit of cloud, a bit of rain,
03:18to the far northwest of Scotland later on in the day.
03:22Still a chilly feel for sure.
03:23Temperatures similar to Saturday, where you get the sunshine.
03:26I mean, that will help with the chilly feel.
03:28Might make it feel a bit, well, will make it feel a little bit warmer.
03:31But nonetheless, yes, those temperatures still a touch below average for this stage in October.
03:37Looking ahead to next week, and this wet weather across the eastern areas
03:41is likely to spread a bit further westwards through Sunday night and into Monday.
03:45So I think many parts of England, Wales, will see a bit of rain on Monday.
03:48There will also be quite a bit of cloud around,
03:50but Scotland and Northern Ireland actually a bit dry for the time being.
03:54And then whilst Tuesday should be mostly dry,
03:57there are signs of some more unsettled weather to come during the middle part of the week.
