A recent complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau by a client of Experity, accuses the healthcare services company of incorrectly handling their electronic health record system. The unnamed complainant
writes it took over a year for the Experity revenue cycle management and billing team to acknowledge they were submitting claims to insurance payers. 700 outstanding invoices over 12-months which hadn't been followed up on accumulated. According to the unknown medical provider, Experity claims a software malfunction was the cause that they did not discover for 12 months.

"The billing team submitted claims to the insurance company with zero charges which is completely unheard of. Their revenue cycle management and billing team is a complete nightmare and after 12-months, we have suffered a significant loss of revenue because of all the billing errors and gross negligence of the revenue cycle management and billing team. I will never recommend any practice to use them for billing services."

My Own Troubles With Experity:
I was a misdiagnosed patient who had an x-ray misread by Dr. Ana Maria Echenique M.D., who worked for Experity. My injury was a broken basilar skull / head trauma. I called Experity in early April, 2022 to have it possibly reread. "Marjorie" (Experity) had me give her access to my old medical images from the urgent care clinic AFC (American Family Care), with the understanding by me that it was going to be reread for me. I gave permission to get the records. I was told I would be called repeatedly. My calls were never returned. When I called back a week later I was told Experity mangaement made a decision that reread request could not be honored. Possibly a HIPAA concern.

Following being told on April 5th that my misdiagnosed X-Ray records were going to be made available to Experity, HIPAA issues have now emerged as I am told Experity management have decided they will not honor my request to have the scan re-examined because I paid $175 in 2019, later learned I had a very serious broken skull head trauma / infection-based injury and I was told in the original scan (by doctors and nurses) that no injury appear. In the disputed X-Rays themselves, evidence of this injury can be seen. The understanding was the results of the 2022 reread were going to be shared with me. I did not give Experity permission to access my health records for any other reason.

I am then told management will call me back shortly after my 1pm CDT call was placed. This call never came, I was told many times dealing with Experity over the last week they would call me and even given a commitment as to the time / date and this was not fulfilled.

Here I give an introduction of my situation and excerpts from my 4/5/22 call with "Marjorie" (possibly Nurse Marjorie Freisthler APRN-CNP who is listed as working with Experity). She tells me the situation has changed due to "management stepping in".

00:00All right, as always, you can go to YouTube channel My Medical Nightmare and see 40 plus
00:07hours video on everything that happened to me.
00:10All right, update on the extremely shady business practices of the medical services provider
00:17Xperity.
00:19According to their press release, Xperity was formed through the combination of Practice
00:24Velocity and DocuTap.
00:26It provides technology solutions to more than 5,700 urgent care practices across the United
00:34States.
00:35What's interesting is that figure has been changed in their newer press releases after
00:422022.
00:44They now don't name the number of practices that they're involved with, but simply state
00:50over 50% of the U.S. urgent care market runs on Xperity solutions.
00:56So they do EMR and Practice Management, SAAS solutions, patient engagement technology,
01:03e-registration, overread services, employee portal for occupational medicine, referral
01:10management, revenue cycle management services, and analytics.
01:15Owned by GTCR since 2022, March.
01:20I found out about Xperity when I had an x-ray done at an American Family Care AFC urgent care
01:29clinic in Birmingham, Alabama in 2019.
01:33That's Anna Maria Agni, M-D-D-A-B-R.
01:37She wrote, no injuries appeared in the images.
01:41I got the images, and I'll put them in this video again, and you can see that I have a
01:47translucent anomaly beneath my skull in the area of the first, second vertebrae, about
01:53three or four inches in diameter here.
01:55I later found out I had broken the underside of my skull, and I almost died from this injury.
02:01Again, I was told no injury appeared.
02:04I called the number that appeared below this doctor's name in the urgent care medical records
02:11I obtained, and it led to this company, Xperity.
02:15I had a lot of problems dealing with Xperity.
02:18They are not responsible or accountable professionally, or they're not professional either.
02:25That's my experience.
02:26Their employees engage in social engineering tactics, as was in my case.
02:32They have a public relations department that regularly tries to float Xperity employees
02:41in various awards to boost their profile and give them social status and social proofing.
02:48Yeah, the profile of this company, extremely suspicious.
02:52You'll see here, they advertise, meet us in Vegas, as in the gambling capital of the United
02:59States, Las Vegas, Nevada.
03:01Let's meet at the UCA annual convention, April 30 through May 4 at Caesars Palace booth, 301.
03:09Place your bets on Xperity.
03:10So here they associate themselves with luck or being winners at games of chance.
03:16It's not something that you can afford if you're a patient looking for health care.
03:22You don't want these type of games being played with your well-being.
03:26All right, so I'll mention here a Better Business Bureau complaint against Xperity.
03:32This was made in October 2023, and it was never responded to by Xperity.
03:40You can go to the Better Business Bureau website and search this for yourself.
03:45Look up the name of the company.
03:47So if you're out there and you're interested in possibly doing business with Xperity or you're
03:53a medical patient seeking possible treatment, I would advise you not to do business with
03:59Xperity.
04:00If you had dealings with this company, you might want to pull out your records and documents
04:05and double-check them.
04:07It looks like the corruption that operates within Xperity is endemic, and it's not going
04:14away.
04:14So according to the complainant, they say they moved from a previous electronic health record
04:21system to Xperity, and this was the worst decision that they ever made, quote unquote.
04:28It has been 12 months, and the revenue cycle management and billing team has been extremely
04:34negligent.
04:36They were submitting claims to insurance payers and didn't even realize that the claims weren't
04:41going through until the complainant and client of Xperity raised a concern and asked why they
04:49weren't receiving payments from the insurance payers.
04:52The complainant mentions they had over 700, that's 7-0-0, outstanding invoices for the
05:0212 months that they had not been following up on.
05:06And by the time they, that's Xperity, began to investigate what was going on, the complainant
05:13realized there were so many billing errors that their team had made.
05:18And Xperity is accused with giving an excuse that there was a software malfunction in submitting
05:26these claims.
05:27The complainant doesn't buy Xperity's reasoning.
05:31I have to say, in my own experience as a patient, Xperity would not review and correct
05:38the errors that the doctor had made looking at my injuries.
05:42So you got two examples here.
05:45Again, if you do business with Xperity, or you're thinking about doing business with Xperity,
05:51think again and just go somewhere else.
05:55Because no company that operates in this fashion should be allowed to do business anywhere and
06:01make money, especially in the United States.
06:04This Better Business Bureau complainant says it took 12 months to get this issue recognized.
06:11It says the billing team overlooked so many services that this company provided that they
06:18just billed as a zero charge when these are services that cost the client thousands of dollars.
06:24They didn't care to bill the services correctly.
06:26They just put a zero charge next to them.
06:30So it looks like there's some incorrect information involving insurance companies going on.
06:36The client says they have suffered a significant loss of revenue because of all the billing errors
06:41and gross negligence of the revenue cycle management and billing team.
06:45And they say here, quote, I will never recommend any practice to use them for billing services, unquote.
06:53All right.
06:53So in my own case, April 2024, and my own issues were never resolved.
07:01I contacted the CEO of Xperity.
07:05You can go hear those phone calls at the video channel.
07:07Dr. David Stern, MD.
07:10That call was never returned.
07:12The AFC, American Family Care Urgent Care Clinic, where I had the x-ray done,
07:18I tried to contact them with getting Xperity to make their errors right, and they reneged on that.
07:27They would not correct these issues.
07:29But interestingly, they know what happened to me, and I believe they still have a partnership with Xperity.
07:37So if you go to AFC Urgent Care and had a feeling you got a wrong diagnosis,
07:45you might want to go back and look at your records also.
07:47I took my issues to the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners and filed complaints regarding these issues.
07:56They would not help me get this matter corrected.
07:59My complaints were thrown out.
08:01They're lazy.
08:02I found out a state of Alabama licensed medical doctor, Christopher Blake Thomas, MD,
08:08who is supposed to be supervising this x-ray in my examination by Nurse Kimberly Kelly.
08:16This doctor was answering the telephone at an AFC, American Family Care Urgent Care,
08:24using a false name, claiming he was an office manager,
08:28and not revealing the fact that he was, in fact, a doctor.
08:32Thereof.
08:32Thereof.
