00:00The Rifleman
00:05Starring Chuck Connors
00:30Hey, hey, Marty, where?
00:49Some pilgrim thinks he found a home.
00:51Well, now, don't you think it was time we showed him the error of his way?
01:00Well, how does it look now that we've bought it, son?
01:11Looks fine.
01:13Well, let's go to work.
01:18Looks like he's got a rifle.
01:22I don't think I'd have it for long.
01:30Hey, Paul.
01:47Morning.
01:49Looks like you folks plan to stay.
01:51Sure do.
01:52We bought the place.
01:53My name is McCain.
01:54This is my boy, Mark.
01:55I'm Sam Montgomery, Mr. McCain.
01:57Mine's Billy Lehigh.
01:59Howdy, Mark.
02:00Howdy.
02:00Surprised old man Dunlap finally sold this place.
02:03Well, they passed away back east.
02:05Judge Hannavin certainly matters for the heirs.
02:06Seems they were anxious to sell.
02:08You have the deed yet?
02:11Get in the next month.
02:12Why?
02:13Well, we work for the San Savo Cattle Corporation.
02:15That's old Jackford's outfit.
02:17Have you heard of him?
02:18As a matter of fact, I have.
02:19I thought your grasp was an Arizona territory.
02:22It is.
02:23Arizona, New Mexico, and a good section of Nevada, too.
02:26You see, Mr. Jackford had sort of a working arrangement with old man Dunlap.
02:29And when Mr. Jackford has an arrangement, it don't change until he says so.
02:34And I don't think he's going to say so.
02:36See, we've been using this place for winter grazing ground for our new Hereford stock.
02:40I think you all just better pack up and hightail it on back to North Fork or wherever you came from and send Mr. Jackford a letter.
02:46Well, I appreciate your interest, boys, but I own this land, legal and proper.
02:51Talking legal or keeping legal?
02:54There's a difference.
02:55Possession is what we call a law around here, Mr. McCain.
02:57All ten points of it.
02:59Now, why don't you just hop in your wagon and move along?
03:01Until Mr. Jackford decides different, I'm afraid you're a trespasser.
03:05You don't seem to realize it, boys, but I am in possession.
03:09No, Mr. McCain.
03:12We are in possession.
03:16Now, do I make myself clear?
03:18You're beginning to, Mr. Lehigh.
03:23Where do I find Mr. Jackford?
03:24Looks like he and I had better have a talk.
03:26Well, right now he's camped at Grizzly Meta.
03:28But I don't think it's how it'll take kindly to your visit, sir.
03:31He don't usually give up nothing unless he has to.
03:34And so far he ain't had to.
03:36You don't mind if I give it a try.
03:42Stand easy, Mr. McCain.
03:48It's like your daddy learns the hard way, Mark.
03:57Let it be.
03:59Walk around it.
04:02Come on, boy.
04:03Come on, snap it up.
04:11Ricky, don't you go worry about your dad.
04:13He'll be all right.
04:15Calm down, little.
04:18You can get up now, Mr. McCain.
04:36Sorry, I had to fuss with you.
04:38Say, Mr. McCain, what do you get this loop here for?
04:41It's to make it easier to...
04:42Marty, this thing goes off all by its lonesome.
04:47I didn't pull the trigger or nothing.
04:48It looks like that weapon has your best interest at heart, Mr. McCain.
04:51Well, this thing has a little old fandango here
04:53that trips the trigger when you slam the lever home.
04:56This is mighty cute, Mr. McCain.
05:04Cute, but not practical.
05:06You see what I mean?
05:14Mr., I think it's time for you to get in that wagon and pull out.
05:17You're going to keep the rifle?
05:18Yeah, I think we will.
05:19I like it.
05:20Are you leaving, Mr. McCain?
05:22Or do we have to drag you out?
05:28This is our home.
05:29We're staying.
05:30Billy, I figured there's a lamp full of coal oil on that house.
05:34Yeah, I think maybe there is.
05:46Now, I want to tell you something about Mr. Jackford.
05:48That'll save you considerable trouble.
05:50Mr. Jackford isn't a bad man.
05:51He's just a little narrow-minded when it comes to giving up what he's got.
05:54Mr. Jackford figures he's his brother's keeper.
06:06Sure keeps well.
06:13You'll buy the place for me, I'm sure.
06:14Right, Billy?
06:15Right.
06:16And if you're polite, Mr. McCain,
06:17you'll end up losing nothing but a little of your time.
06:21All right.
06:21I understand.
06:24We're just a big outfit that don't intend to get smaller.
06:27It's the way it is.
06:29So long, Mark.

06:59No es verdad que no es verdad.
07:04Estamos en el mundo del país buscando el lugar correcto,
07:07y cuando nos encontramos, mira lo que pasa.
07:13Me parece que el Señor está sentado contra nosotros en nuestro propio lugar.
07:20Help me saddle up, chico.
07:22Quiero contar una historia.
07:26Vamos.
07:29A long time ago, in a country so far west,
07:34it's almost due east of here,
07:37I lived a big stock man,
07:39with a beard so long it reached down to his belly button.
07:42His name was Job.
07:46Our Job had seven sons and seven daughters,
07:49and over 7,000 head of fine cattle and sheep,
07:51not to mention a considerable amount of camels.
07:54Our Job was top dog with the Lord
07:55because he was so hard-working and righteous.
07:58And the Lord, who never lost a chance to brag on him,
08:01made a point of telling the devil about the old man.
08:04About how he hated evil,
08:06fought temptation,
08:07and most important,
08:09how he never lost his faith in God.
08:11Well, the devil switched his tail and laughed.
08:15And he allowed that Job was such a good man
08:17because everything was going his way.
08:20Just give him some trouble and he'd switch sides in a hurry.
08:23Well, the Lord thought this over.
08:26And then he said he'd give the devil a hog dollar
08:28against a penny worth of brimstone,
08:30that Job would keep faith with his maker,
08:32no matter what trials were put upon him.
08:34Well, the devil has set some rustlers onto the old man's stock.
08:37Then he called up a big wind
08:39that knocked down his house and killed all his children.
08:42The old man's beard turned white with grief,
08:45but he held steadfast.
08:47So the devil reared back
08:49and saddled him all over with festering boils.
08:54But Job was as miserable as a man could be.
08:58He got himself a piece of broken jug,
09:01sat out in a corral,
09:03doctoring his boils
09:04and shaking ashes over his head
09:06and the wailing his fate,
09:09wondering why the Lord had forsaken him
09:12until finally three of his friends came up.
09:15And they told Job that wailing about the situation
09:17only made it worse.
09:19And it looked to them like he'd sinned
09:21somewhere along the line.
09:23And why didn't he repent?
09:24Oh, Job jumped right back at them.
09:27He said he'd repent
09:28when he had something to repent about.
09:29He knew he'd been good and righteous.
09:33And while he might complain about his lot,
09:35he'd not lost faith with the Lord.
09:38Oh, that my words were now written and printed in a book,
09:42graven with chisel and granite rock forever.
09:45For I know that my Redeemer liveth
09:47and that he shall stand beside me later on.
09:50That's how the old man put it.
09:54Well, Mark, the devil was plumb wore out,
09:56so he just tossed in his chips
09:58and quit the game.
10:00And the Lord was so proud of Job
10:01that he restored all the old man's children
10:04and his house and his camels and sheep,
10:06and he gave them over twice as many cattle
10:09as he had before.
10:10And Job lived 140 years,
10:13happy as a bird dog,
10:14and finally died,
10:17being old and full of days.
10:24It makes our troubles look kind of piddling, don't it?
10:28But I guess if we were to come down with boils,
10:30we'd know where to put the blame.
10:32Well, I don't think Jackford
10:33can go quite that far, son.
10:36I guess we're gonna keep this ranch.
10:38Well, I guess we're gonna try.
10:40Now, you take the wagon back to town.
10:42Tell Judge Havid I'll be there in two or three days.
10:43I'd like to stay, Pa.
10:45I can bed down over by the spring.
10:48You think you can handle a team,
10:49make camp?
10:50Might get lonesome.
10:51Pa, I'm 10 years old.
10:55All right.
10:55But you keep your eyes open after dark.
10:58Rattlesnakes like to move when the sun's down
11:00and the ground's still warm.
11:05Pa, are you going against Jackford
11:08without your rifle?
11:09I don't plan on it.
11:11So long, son.
11:13...
11:26I don't plan on it.
11:32I don't, son.
11:35I don't plan on it.

21:18Ahora, ¡vámonos!
21:21Mr. Jackford, no necesito este arma.
21:26Ahora voy a poner este arma en un árbol.
21:46All right.
22:03All right.
22:11That's far enough, mister.
22:12Well, tell him to shoot.
22:16If you've got guts enough.
22:19You'd better do it, Jackford.
22:21Or I'll be waiting out in the brush every time you step out the door.
22:26I'll kill your stock and I'll burn your bonds.
22:29I'm going to pay you back, Mr. Jackford.
22:32Now, what's it going to be?
22:37All right.
22:39We'll build you a new house.
22:42All right, Clyde.
22:49Help the boys on their feet.
23:03You've got yourself a ranch, mister.
23:05Whether you keep it or something else.
23:07You step out of line.
23:10Or you make one mistake and you're finished.
23:13I'll be watching and waiting.
23:16Waiting for a reason to come after you with a gun.
23:18And when I do, I won't be alone.
23:21Remember that, Mr. McCain.
