00:00It's not often we see political opponents join hands or see eye to eye.
00:05But during the opening of the finals of the National School Panorama competition at Skinner Park today,
00:11the audience witnessed exactly that.
00:14A PNM mayor committing to work with a UNC minister.
00:17The man of the hour, I told him this morning,
00:21in November, Mr. Minister Paul B with the idea of moving Schools Panorama to Skinner Park.
00:32We both being Southerners, it just makes sense.
00:37Because Skinner Park is a new experience for everyone.
00:44As you know that we are in a brand new facility.
00:47And certainly, Minister, I vow to always work with you when it comes to the children of Trinidad and Tobago.
00:58Meanwhile, the education minister detailed why the PNM is an instrument to cherish.
01:05And this is part of the culture of Trinidad and the people.
01:12It brings us a light.
01:13It's the only instrument that invented in the country of Trinidad, right here in Trinidad and Tobago.
01:19And so, as our young people play with the president,
01:25it's a powerful reminder to gain that the culture is best in culture.
01:31And we must have to be in best in our community.
01:34This year's National School Panorama is historic.
01:38First time, the national final event is in South Trinidad.
01:45And this matters.
01:47It matters because talent is not content for anyone here again.
01:53He said the ministry is committed to expanding arts and education.
01:56As a ministry of education, we understand that music is not an extracurricular lesson.
02:04It's a powerful educational tool.
02:08Music strengthens your ability to put in everything.
02:13Your cognitive abilities.
02:15It improves literacy and numeracy.
02:18It builds discipline and teamwork.
02:21And so, whether it's in backyard or in classroom,
02:26students' education, they learn collaboration, they learn leadership and resilience.
02:31Minister Dr. Michael Dowlath called on students to play with passion and pride.
02:37And so they did.
02:39Here's a look at some of the performances taking place today.
02:42And of course, we will bring you the winner's row in a subsequent newscast.
02:46Or for Shita Wari, Rabnarain, TV6 News.
