For the first time in the history of the country, three women will be seen in key positions such as Prime Minister, Opposition Leader and President.
Transcript
00:00Three women are now in top positions in Trinidad and Tobago following the 2025 general elections.
00:06We decided to get the views of the people on such a historic moment for the country
00:10and, surprisingly, both men and women were in full support of having female leaders.
00:16We first ventured to the heart of Chagornas.
00:19What's your thoughts on your views on Penelope Pactos being the opposition leader?
00:25Well, really and surely I don't have a problem with that.
00:27She's part of the PNM, so if they choose, she will be the opposition leader.
00:31I find that it's okay.
00:33It's a good chance for a lady to run the country now,
00:36because all over the world, ladies are in power.
00:39And I'm proud if she gets that position.
00:42And how you feel about it having three women?
00:46The president, Kamala is a prime minister, and it's good, it's great.
00:52Trinidad need a change. Let me see what a woman in power can do.
00:54It's a great thing. And then, again, plenty of women are single parents,
00:59so they are in charge, you know.
01:00Our next stop, Karenie Roundabout.
01:03Well, the civil, plenty of civil ladies know how to do the thing,
01:07like to run the household and the kitchen.
01:10Well, you can see how she run the country.
01:13I believe she could do a good job, man.
01:15We eventually made our way to the West, where we met up with this gentleman,
01:34who congratulated Ms. Penelope Beckles on her new appointment.
01:37I honestly believe it's supposed to be a move that was supposed to be made
01:41before the previous one, you know, because the voice of the people is the voice of God,
01:45and people have been saying for the longest why we need a change in power.
01:51And people waited until the election results then to make this move,
01:56when this move would have had a bigger effect prior to what went on Monday.
02:02Apart from it having three people, three females now in leadership,
02:08that's a good sign, because now, you know, we could finally see women in charge.
02:14And I think most women would like to hear that,
02:16because they always believe that they should always be in charge at every given time.
